We really enjoyed our stay at Meme's Cottage. The accomodations were very clean and inviting. The view from the cottage was spectacular especially at sunset. We felt very comfortable there as if we were at home only at the beach. The owners are very easy to work with and helpful. You can tell they really take pride in their vacation home! We will definitely will choose Meme's Cottage again!

I cannot express or really explain our experience, but only to say it really was triple outstanding..the house was more than what we expected, pictures do not really show what the house gives you..and also the convenience of what is all around and near-by, it was perfect for our pet and all the room needed, and it was just as perfect for the two familiys...I highly recommend...and cannot wait until we are able to get back down and take more time to spend in this outstanding house on the bay, to relax and enjoy the views more and see more of the area..from all of us..THANKS SO MUCH !!!!!

Loved the place

Review Submitted: August 17, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We were there from August 8th - August 15th. It was just my husband and I and our two little dogs. The back yard fenced in yard was great for letting the dogs out. We did not swim in the bay but we did play in the ocean which was only about a mile and a half away. Probably closer if you could walk through the woods and the other water.
The beach was like a private beach.

Loved the house. It came with extras that would help a young family such as a high chair, a crib, a stroller and the great washer and dryer. That was great in itself because we kept washing our clothes so when we got home, we did not have much to wash.

It is on a street of all different kinds of houses.

The house was well maintained. It came with magazines and books and DVd's (which was great because our internet and cable was out most of the time we were there - no fault of the owners).

Gulf Shores is only ten miles away. Seems far in the beginning but when you get that road down, it seems like nothing. There is a gas station a couple miles away that you can buy food and such from there. Wal Mart is eleven miles away (went there a lot).

Twenty miles (about) from the cottage is a outlet mall with 120 stores (Foley) along with a neat home store called Old Time Pottery. It was huge - everything you could want for home decorating. Of course you have the typical beach wear/souvenir shop in Gulf Shores.

Mobile has some attractions which is about a hour and a half away.
There is also a ferry to Dauphin Island which has a sea lab there.

I loved the privacy of the home. It isn't like the bumper to bumper condos on the beach.

We did see dolphins from our porch a couple times.

We would love to stay there again if we have the chance.

Charming!

Review Submitted: July 29, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a relaxing week at the cottage. The cottage was perfectly outfitted, clean and spacious. The bay was beautiful and the dolphins were fun to watch. The public beach nearby was perfect! A definite A+.

We just spent 7 glorious days at Meme's Bay Cottage and I have to tell you how blessed we were to find this place. My husband and I brought our son, daughter, my parents, our baby grandson, and our 11 year old weiner dog for vacation. We had an age range from 1 to 78 years old and everyone was impressed! The best description I can give this home is "WOW"! The bay is right outside the back door and the sugary sand beach is only 1-1/2 miles from the front door. We wanted relaxation, family fun time, and sunny weather -- we were not disappointed! Even though this home is a little 'out of the way' from the shops and dining, it is the perfect place for family. We stocked up on groceries and fresh seafood and were good to go! The place is immaculately clean, inside and out, with all the amenities of a 5-star motel. I loved the claw foot tub and color decor throughout the house. Martha is the perfect hostess and I will definently recommend this property to all my friends. In fact, if/when we return to Gulf Shores for vacation, I will stay here! We celebrated our grandson's 1st birthday out on the screened in back porch, saw many beautiful sunsets, and truly felt 'at home' here. Thanks so much for sharing Meme's Bay Cottage with us. I wanted to 'make some memories' and now I have more than I ever dreamed possible.

Most Wonderful Relaxing home!

Review Submitted: June 15, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This was our second year visiting Gulf shores. This home was so wonderful. The view is absolutely incredible. Every morning you wake up to the bay and can watch dolphins play. My children loved the fishing and really enjoyed the delicious cookies that were in the home when we arrived. This was a clean and beautiful home. We have found our new vacation home and look forward to another stay next year or even maybe again in the fall. If we had more vacation time we would have stayed a whole month. Would stringly encourage anyone to stay in this home and experience what we did.

My Wife and I stayed at MEME's Bay Cottage and the location was excellent as was the house layout. Access to the water, a small private boat launch in the back yard (perfect for launching a skiff or small bay boat), Screend-in porch, sitting room, picket fenced yard and pet friendly home (though we did not bring our pet this trip).
The Cottage was immaculate and the layout and atmosphere really made us feel at home.
Martha has this furnished cottage in immaculate condition with almost every condiment a family would need for a weeks stay (all we really had to do was buy food and drinks after arrival), which made fo a nice travel light experience.
There was both a charcol grill and a gas grill ready for use, as well as all the silverware and glassware necessary during the entire stay.
The Sunsets were outstanding and the back "screened in" porch is where we spent our evenings; absolutely beautiful!
The next time we return to Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan for vacation we will try and book Meme's again. It is perfect for a family of four and can easily accomodate six people.

Pleasant house, pleasant property, plesant owners

The setting of this property is beautiful especially one the bay side with the view, large trees and quiet. The house itself is clean, bright, airy, well and practically decorated with one of the most useful kitchens I have in terms of cooking utensils, etc. The nearby beach is remarkably beautiful. The neighbors are more than friendly.

Another thing I appreciated about this property is the excellent description on the internet and the fact that it is accurate. The owners are warm and friendly and would do anything, within reason, to make the stay pleasant.

The town and adjacent towns are also inviting and have many excellent restaurants to try. Wish we could have tried more and spread out our area more.

Do I have any negative comments? Not really. And it is great when you think about it and still can find nothing critical to say.

This was our first visit to the area, but my guess is that this is one of the more unique and pleasant properties you could find.

The cottage was perfect and Martha is a wonderful hostess. The area has amazingly friendly people, and tons of things to do. This would be a wise choice for a vacation any time of the year.
