This unit is just OK

The condo complex and this unit are dated and need some maintenance. Old kitchen cabinets and laminate countertops. Lanai screen door didn't slide properly. One toilet ran constantly and wasn't fixed after a maintenance call. Lock in door knob difficult to work, but dead bolt was fine. Interior wall colors are all white, adding to dated look. No dishwasher detergent or paper towls provided. Complex pool and beach are VERY small, but there is a beach park in easy walking distance. Wireless internet did not work and had to get a cable from maintenance. Lanai dining set was rusty. Complex is VERY quiet, which was nice. Absolutely need a car as you are miles from Kehei, Lahaina, or Kahului and there are no grocery stores nearby.
Owner's Response: Maalaea Bay offers smaller complexes away from the hustle and bustle of large resorts and crowds of tourists. The complexes reflect this, offering larger condos in smaller, more intimate buildings with direct views and access to sandy beaches. A convenient, neighborhood grocery store is one block from our condo. The phone in the condo allows free long distance and local calls—a call to owners or local manager addresses any maintenance or questions immediately. The kitchen appliances are new. The off-white walls offer a cheerful, bright ambience and a pleasing background for the original drawings on the walls of all rooms. The furniture on the Lanai was recently purchased at Pier One and has a patina on the wrought iron to give an intimate, old-world, antique feel (rust look is added to create the feel). The free wireless requires a password given in our instructions to renters (we will post a sticker on the modem now), but if a renter has difficulty, we can easily help over the phone. The photos with the listing clearly show the condo rooms and furnishings as well as the pool and beach. The problems mentioned in this review have been fixed, and we always do appreciate suggestions and recommendations for improvements.
