We loved staying in Villa Amanda! It was very close to El Yunque -- perfect for quick trips in to take different hikes. (Don't miss Roots and Fruits restaurant and juice bar in Parker on the way up to El Yunque -- great vegetarian fare!) You could hear coqui frogs and tropical birds from the open doors out to the beautiful patios. The beach and pool for the villa residents is about 20 minutes walk away. Kitchen and laundry facilities (not in the unit) were great to have.

Don't miss this lovely bit of paradise -- I can't wait to come back!

This was our third stay at Villa Amanda and again...we couldn't have had a more perfectly relaxing time. While the blizzards blew back home in New York we were enjoying 9 days of gorgeous weather at the uncrowded Villa Owner's beach and pool...Just amazing!! In addition to the beautiful golf courses there is also a good tennis facility at the resort -- with reasonable court fees ($25/hour). The Villa is always incredibly maintained and clean; has great wi-fi; 2 large flat screen TV's; beach towels; a well-stocked kitchen and plenty of room. The two terraces have fantastic views and are just perfect for relaxing at the end of the day with a pina colada or at the beginning of the day with a good cup of coffee. This year we invited a friend to join us for a few days. She couldn't believe what a paradise we have found. We are saving the best thing about Villa Amanda for last -- Jose, the owner. He is in a word "wonderful". Always attentive, prompt to respond to emails and always waiting for us with a smile and a glass of wine when we arrive. He truly makes us feel like family.

We loved this place. We don't feel the pictures do this place justice. The living room and bedroom are huge. Nice open feel with the patios. We just loved the view. This was a nice place to spend a relaxing week. Jose is an excellent host. We also love the Wyndham Rio Mar property and were eager to come back for a visit. This area of Puerto Rico is one of our favorite. Easy to get to the airport, you are out of the hustle and bustle, there are some gorgeous beaches so close, you can catch the Fajardo ferry for a nice change of pace for the day. I would highly recommend this place. Thanks Jose

We started our trip here and then travelled around the entire island. This location is fabulous and Jose could not have been nicer. Our plane was late, but he greeted us with cold beer and wine. Cluster is older, but clean with a fabulous view from the balcony, perfect for watching New Year's fireworks. WiFi works great. We took advantage of the golf and spa at the resort, which was particularly easy as Jose lets his clubs be used. if I were only rating Jose it would be 5 stars.

We stayed for 6 nights at Villa Amanda at the end of October. The place is great to enjoy the views and just relax with a nice cocktail or Puerto Rican beer. We ended up staying at the resort a lot more than we had expected. The pool area and beach were wonderfully relaxing. With El Yunque being nearby and Old San Juan just a 40min drive away, Rio Mar is the perfect location.
Looking forward to our next trip to Puerto Rico. We'll definitely stay at Villa Amanda again. Thanks Jose for being such a great host!

Our family of 4 stayed in Villa Amanda for 3 days. It was very comfortable, immaculate, and spacious. The bed was great - almost like home. Jose had everything we could possibly need, and we were greatful that we had the kitchen so we didn't have to go to restaurants for every meal. Jose is a fantastic host - following up before to give us recommendations on sites and restaurants and during our stay to make sure everything was right. We had an issue the first day connecting to the wireless, but he quickly resolved it.
Staying in the villa was such a great way to enjoy Rio Mar without the crowds of the main hotel. We used the resident's pool - plenty of chairs and just fine for my kids to splash around. The property is beautiful; I enjoyed a couple early morning runs. My husband had fun at the casino.
It is convenient to El Yunque, Luquillo food stands, and bio bay - our family enjoyed them all.
I highly recommend Villa Amanda.

My wife and I booked Villa Amanda for a week in March after having an enjoyable stay in a different villa the previous November. When JetBlue offered a sale on nonstops from Boston, we leaped at the chance to return. Jose responds quickly with many details to help plan your trip. Upon arrival, Jose greeted us at the gate, helped with our bags, and gave us a grand tour. There was no need to stop at Ralph’s Market since Jose provides essentials. During the tour the surprising thing was that the views were better than the web page photos, truly a water view. We left computers behind and were satisfied with the great signals our Sprint smart phones picked up from this location. The WiFi came in handy for downloading a book to the Nook. The Satellite TV channels in both the living room and master bedroom provide all the standard channels like at home, but save for one sporting event, we never needed to use the entertainment system. We enjoyed the sounds of nature and the fresh breezes. It was very peaceful. We had some bad luck with the weather one day when torrential rains kept us on the property and even knocked out power. A call to Jose resulted in a quick call back letting us know that the power would be back in a few hours. We appreciated that. The good thing is that the resort buildings all have generators so it was business as usual there. We had an excellent lunch at the Iguana’s Pub in the golf center followed by a shuttle to the main resort building and HAD to spend a little time in the casino. The only after effect of the storm was that the beach was covered with drift wood that had washed up but there was still enough open areas to sit on the chaise lounges on the weekend when the resort made them available. Old San Juan is a mere 45 minute drive and we visited on two separate days. The outlet mall by Route 66 was a nice surprise, very modern and decent prices. The close proximity to the rain forest was very convenient and we took one of the hikes to the La Mina waterfalls. Use the first trail on the drive up. There are a few places to rest along the way – it is very rewarding to see the falls. We visited the Loquillo shacks 3 or 4 times, mostly got a good meal. Love the $5 Pina Coladas at the El Jefe Burger Shack. To conclude, Villa Amanda has great balconies, bright eat-in kitchen, very comfortable bed, clean and spacious bathrooms. It is well maintained, well stocked, and well located for touring and just relaxing. Coqui!

Our two week vacation at villa Amanda was delightful. The villa may well be the most desirable location of the Rio Mar Resort--convenient to the golf club, restaurants and local attractions. We enjoyed the two balconies with the lovely view.
For a one bedroom, the villa is very spacious with high ceilings,and many windows. Jose the owner took good care of us. Great vacation.
