Girls Weekend Getaway October 16, 2009

Kruse Family Richfield, Ohio
Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We can't say enough good things about our weekend stay at Morgan Farms. Celebrating our 15th year of going on an annual weekend together, this was the perfect place to do it. Very relaxing, cozy and comfortable. We found plenty to do in the area with the brochures provided, but our favorite moments were just relaxing on the porch, watching the leaves fall and listening to the still country side. Thank you for a wonderful experience that was much enjoyed by all!
Owner's Response: The ladies seem to LOVE getting their friends together for a farm getaway at Morgan Farm Stay.

Farm Stay

We stayed at Morgan Farm in mid August. The weather was perfect. We met another family there and our children had a ball running around exploring the surroundings. The house fit our families perfectly. We were only there two nights so we weren't able to experience everything we wanted to, so next time we'll have to stay longer! The only thing we tried and were unsuccessful at was trying to purchase local produce and meats from area farmers. Maybe because it was a Saturday? We definitely would stay here again for a longer period of time!
Owner's Response: Thanks jdelpa1
It was intriguing that the other couple you met was from east of the farm, in PA. Glad you chose the Heartland of Ohio as a meeting spot in-between. The Amish families you visited may have been in the fields, or maybe you did not knock hard enough on the door, they often nap mid day, especially the long harvesting days, and of course no doorbells! (electricity) Sunday is the day to avoid the Amish, no business transactions. We look forward to your return!

Sad to be back home

We had a lovely weekend at Dan & Annette's perfect farmhouse. They met us there and gave us a tour of the barns, the house, the grounds. Everything was lovely, spotless, and obviously lovingly cared for. Our small kids ran and ran all over the place, in and out of the barn, up and down stairs, until they finally collapsed in comfortable, quilt-covered beds. Mommy & Daddy watched from the giant, old, shady front porch, our noses in books. The goats and the neighbors cows occasionally reminded us they were around. We ate like kings thanks to the local produce the owners left. It was a joy to cook in a well-equipped, bright, roomy kitchen then eat al fresco, kitties rubbing our ankles. We hardly wanted to leave the grounds, except to walk up the driveway to the street to watch buggies go by, but Dan and Annette left so many ideas for activities that we couldn't help ourselves. But just for a little while. Highly, highly recommend this place!
Owner's Response: Kids love our farm. They seem to find joy in every little detail, from playing with the cats and goats, to splashing in the puddles after a nice hard rain. We do feel obliged to supply a well equipped kitchen as well as area attraction maps and guides. We are very happy share the house with vacationers, partly because the feeling we get when we get terrific reviews like yours Vickie, Thank You!

Awesome Place to Stay!

Alaska Joe Anchorage, AK
Review Submitted: June 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
I rented the home for a week while attending my son's wedding and I couldn't be more pleased. The place was wonderfully decorated and well stocked with all the essentials. The grounds were so beautiful and the grandchildren loved the animals. Each evening I looked forward to relaxing on the porch with a nice glass of wine. Everyone who came to visit loved the place so much it ended up being where everyone wanted to come out and relax for the afternoon and early evening.

I highly recommend the place and can't wait to return.

Morgan Farm

Emfwestlake Westlake, OH
Review Submitted: February 5, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
We enjoyed this vacation very much. We gave our kids the choice of a stay at Morgan Farm or a few days at an amusement park. They chose the farm and they both say they would like to go back.
The property was as advertised, the home was quite clean, and the area was interesting. The helpful owners met us at the farm and gave us a tour and also provided maps to local attractions.
My children were 9 and 12 and they liked watching the animals, most especially the farm cats.
We went to Amish farms and purchased local produce, and to some local shops. We found an auction of farm equipement that was fun to see. My kids also enjoyed the city pool which was a nice way to relax after driving here and there during the day.
Owner's Response: Thanks Emfwestlake,

Glad you got around to explore Ashland County. The pool at the city park has one of the only high diving boards around, that I know of.

The weekly hay and produce auction, on Fridays, is a great way to mingle with local Amish, Mennonite and English farmers.

City dwelling divorce lawyer finds serenity

Carlos M. Cleveland, Ohio
Review Submitted: January 30, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
I could not have found a more perfect place to escape the noise and stress of the city. I traded traffic, cement, bus fumes and raised voices for a beautiful country road occupied by the occasional tractor or Amish buggy, fresh country air, and solitude. I rested, ate healthy food, read, relaxed and made some journal entries reminding me that there are far more important things in life than racing from one place to another and constantly trying to meet the often unrealistic expectations of others.
Owner's Response: Thanks Carlos,

We are happy that we could help you find a place to "get away from it all" The clippity clop of those buggies and the chirping of the morning birds are cherished sounds on the farm! Another nice sound is the crackling of a fire in our fire pit late at night, under the starry sky.

Morgan Farm, with so many places to explore right on the grounds, is the perfect, economical getaway, for solitude or family fun, or both!

Wonderful Stay

MomOfTwoBoys Northeast Ohio
Review Submitted: January 26, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
We (four adults and four children) stayed at the Morgan farm last summer. Our host was there when we arrived and she was extremely knowledgeable about the area and a delight to talk to.

The house is tucked away off of a quiet country road surrounded by Amish homes. It is a beautiful old house that has been lovingly brought to the current century. The kitchen was large and modern while the large side porch was sturdy and beautifully rustic and quaint. Our children enjoyed watching the fire flies from the porch at night and exploring and petting the on-site horses and watching the goats during the day. We all had a great time picking strawberries a few miles up the road.

We went in to the tourist areas one day, but preferred the peaceful serenity of the house and driving or bike riding around the surrounding area. We cooked out each night and enjoyed a large bonfire the one night. It was a wonderful and relaxing stay. Highly recommend.
Owner's Response: Hi Barb,

We loved having you!

Our porch is one of our favorite places to relax and watch the sun set. The fire flies are a real treat in June and July.

There will be more animals to pet in the 2009 season!

Best to you,

Dan and Annette

My family really enjoyed our stay at the farm. We had three families staying for the weekend. My daughters and their husbands and kids enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The horses, turkeys, and goats were a joy to watch. My granddaughter enjoyed exploring the barn, playing in the yard, and riding a bicyle. We had lazy, relaxing days with wonderful meals prepared by all. The local restaurants and country stores were interesting and had delicious food. We hope to revisit soon. Thanks for a wonderful weekend getaway.
Owner's Response: Thanks Mary,

For 2009, we are adding some more animals with even better access for petting and playing with.

Families enjoy healthy locally grown food, cooking together, and sharing meals inside or outside. This is one of the best aspects of this Farm Stay. People connecting their food with where it comes from! Ohio has a great agricultural history, and our farm has Amish, Mennonite and English farming surrounding the grounds. The gravel road the farm sits on makes for ideal hiking and biking (we also provide the bikes)

We hope to see you again!

Morgan Farm Stay

Mary Kay and Kathy Walton Hills, OH and Ft. Wayne, IN
Review Submitted: October 29, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
A few weeks ago my friend and I decided to take a few days off from our hectic work schedules, so we booked Morgan Farm Stay for some serious R&R. As soon as we walked into the kitchen, we felt at home--but relaxed. Those heritage turkeys ran to greet us at the fence and gobbled every time we came and went from the house. We found plenty to do--horseback riding, shopping, a mansion and arboretum in Mansfield, and some local restaurants with terrific food. Both nights we fell asleep to the sounds of the Belgian horses nickering in the pasture. We're looking forward to our next visit!
Owner's Response: Thanks Mary Kay in Walton Hills, OH and Kathy in Indiana,

You and your friend probably had some real quality time together. We have been happy to host several guests who are getting together with old high school or college friends. A lot of Ohio folks have friends or family out of state, and what better way to welcome home out of state people, than to enjoy a whole house and grounds, conveniently located in the heart of Ohio's agriculture, a true getaway for all, so close to home.

Perfect Farmhouse Getaway

PinkyPIE Cleveland, Ohio
Review Submitted: October 28, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
My husband and I spent a blissfully relaxing weekend at Morgan Farm in Ashland. Our 1 1/2 year old daughter and my parents were with us as well. The property was fun to explore and the natural beauty of the surroundings put us all at ease. We spent our days hanging out with the horses, turkeys and goats and cooked meals in the kitchen at night. We love to cook and the kitchen was very well appointed. We really didn't need to bring anything.

We went to a local farm market on Saturday and there were many fresh goods to be had.

The decor and design of the house was fun, eclectic and comfortable.

We would stay at the farm again and again!

One warning for fellow city slickers...Amish "stores" are inside peoples houses! We didn't know this and it kind of took us by surprise. I guess we were expecting a country store out of Little House on the Prairie...That's city slickers for you.

Jessica from Cleveland
Owner's Response: Thanks Jessica from Cleveland.

Kids of all ages enjoy the farmhouse and the grounds. One of the most interesting aspects of staying at our farm house is observing the mix of Amish, Mennonite and modern farmers in the immediate area. We are preparing a more detailed guide for our visitors about what to expect and how to interact with this friendly mix. The prices at the Amish stores certainly are a pleasant surprise!
