Great vacation house!

We stayed at this house first week in October, and it was a fantastic vacation! The house is in excellent condition, beautifully decorated - and the golf course just adds serenity to the view.

Jeep was a great bonus - we didn't have to worry about car rental, and it is nice to drive around the island in a convertible.

The owner was very responsive, offered us a lot of great advice and was very easy to deal with.

We would definitely consider staying there again on our next trip to Hawaii.

A Tranquil Experience

We stayed from 10/10/09-10/16/09 and the experience was unforgettable. The rooms were stylish and modern yet homey and comfortable. And of course, the serene view of the golf course from the lanai provided for a perfect setting for some wonderfully romantic and relaxing evenings for my husband and I. Our stay was like a delightful dream which i cannot wait to revisit. Not to mention, we were provided with a courtesy car for our day time outings and luckily we did not have to venture far since everything is so conveniently close. Our visit was priceless and the villa extremely beautiful. We would recommend this trip to all of those who are seeking a rejuvenating retreat from the everyday hustle and bustle.

Relaxing location - Deceptive Advertising

We overall did have a good experience at this property, but there were 2 incidents that detracted from my enjoyment of the property.

Before we arrived, I noticed on the 4th page of the 5 page rental agreement that we were limited to 60 miles per day in car rental usage. There are shops in walking distance, but to get to any decent beach, or into the town of Kona, it is at least 25 miles one way. You really can't drive much on a daily basis. It isn't like a rental car where you just use and fill up at the end of the trip. I spoke to the owner about this before our trip, and she seemed personally offended that I wanted to drive the car to the other side of the island to see the volcanoes. We actually ended up renting a 2nd car to see what we wanted on the island and not be charged extra by the property owner.

2nd problem was they will recommend a limo service that will pick you up at the airport and take you to the condo upon arrival. They charge what I though was an average price for a limo, or at least would be normal on the mainland. In fact, since this was our honeymoon, I cancelled our limo after the wedding since we would be starting our honeymoon with a limo ride. I was very disappointed to end up being picked up in a Mini Van with the name of the limo service written on the side window. Was a big let down.

The rest of the week was great. The condo is spacious and beautifully decorranted. We BBQ'ed a couple times, and made breakfast and lunch at home in the fully stocked kitchen. We went to the pool several times and enjoyed the area very much.

It is certainly a good deal for this property, I just don't want anyone surprised and disappointed as I was in those 2 factors.
Owner's Response: We offer the use of our personal vehicle as a COURTESY to our guests and do not charge extra for it. As a matter of fact, our prices are lower than some of the other homes without a car, a Jeep no less! We ask our guests upfront, in a contract that must be signed way in advance to be considerate with the mileage because of wear and tear on the car. Those guests that plan on long exploration trips are better off renting an inexpensive vehicle for the day. Some of our guests rent our home because it is nicer than most and don't even use our car. As another COURTESY we recommend a car service for our guests, the driver will meet you at the gate and is very helpful with the luggage. It is reasonably priced for Hawaii. The limo service must be specified and costs a bit more than the minivan. We provide the information and our guests deal directly with the car service. We get a lot of good responses about them. We can not be responsible for misunderstandings that happen between folk that do not involve us.

Nice but be prepared

Granted the condo is beautifully decorated but not all good things come in nicely decorated packages.

Be prepared to get your own car rental if the Jeep isnt available due to previous renter wrecking it and do not think to ask for a refund or credit cause it wont be given. The Jeep is a extra bonus and not part of the condo rental. Well you could have fooled us (and did) based on the way the condo's description is written. And you will need a rent a car unless you plan on only staying in the Waikoloa area (27 miles to Kona and nothing in between) and a limo or taxi ride is $60 for 2 people.

If you cant take the heat and humidity, dont rely on the air conditioning too much too cool you off. We couldnt get it to regulate past 77 or 78 degrees. We had to purchase a fan to keep us cool.

Better also check the grills propane tank before you plan on firing it up to cook. It seems we were not the only group that stayed their and had no propane. And the suggestion for using the Foreman grill in its place isnt even a consideration to cook a $20 steak on.

We suggest you pick up any groceries and supplies in Kona since the market across from the condos is expensive and very limited.

Needless to say this was our first and possibly our last time we will rent a condo for a vacation since the experience was not what we expected.
Owner's Response: This is the first negative review we have ever received in the 2 years we have had our home listed. Unfortunately, our preceding guests had a small accident and the Jeep needed to be repaired. For that reason we clearly state in our contract that the Jeep is a courtesy we extend to our guests, we do not charge for it and cannot guarantee its availability. It is however the first time that the Jeep was not available in 2 years.
There is a wonderful full service supermarket a few miles away in Waikoloa Village with very reasonable prices, I wish they would have asked...
Our concierge is very helpful and responsive to our guests needs and he is ready to take care of what ever they need. Occasionally the propane tank needs to be replaced due to usage. Again, it would have been taken care of immediately if only they asked. Our home is quite new and is fitted with the latest energy efficient technology, one of the features is, when the patio doors are left open the A/C turns off automatically, we tried explaining it to these guests, but I guess they didn't believe us...
Though we believe that most of the complaints in this review could have been addressed and corrected if they gave us an opportunity, nevertheless, we are profoundly saddened by the negative experience these guests have had. We love Waikoloa and we know that everyone who visits falls in love with it as well! We genuinely hope that you will give us a chance and experience it for your selves!

This was our 4th trip to the island and I have to say this condo was absolutely the greatest. Loved the interior and view from the lanai. Close enough to both the Queens and Kigs shops to walk. We'll definitely try to reserve it next time we travel to the Big Island. The Jeep was a nice bonus.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful vacation home with our family! The condo was beautifully decorated and in fantastic condition! For a family of 5, this unit couldn't have served the needs of our family any better. The guest room has the two single beds plus the trundle, which accomodated our three kids great... the lawn out the back door was perfect for the kids to run around - kick the soccer ball and rounding up coconuts... the pool is directly across the drive... and A-bay and Hapuna Beach are just around the corner. It was the best family vacation we have ever taken and we are absolutely coming back! Thanks again. The Nelsons

Our stay was over the middle of April and the best thing we can say is 'WOW!!!' The suite is beautiful and the complex is fantastic. This is not just a place to rest your head at the end of a day of vacationing. It truly is an oasis. Both high end and basic shopping are within a 3 minute walk. Not that that matters with the new Jeep included. We plan on going back......the sooner the better.

My wife and I stayed in the "Zen Spa" in February and it was excellent! It was decorated beautifully and the location was perfect. The golf course view made for great commentary and the two shopping centers(Kings/Queen) had everything we needed. The Jeep made for a great vacation for getting to beaches and site-seeing that can't be done without one. I would stay again and again.
