Solid stay in the Jordaan, steps away from Prinsengracht

This ground floor apartment was quite handy during my 14th overall and 8th solo trip to Amsterdam. This was my third vacation rental property in succession, and I don't see any reason to use a hotel any more, honestly. The overall VALUE for the money would render a 5-star rating. I reckon it is impossible to beat a 210 Euro stay during 3 nights in off-peak mid-January. One would be hard-pressed to find a hotel in a similar neighborhood for twice that amount.
The apartment came with its own private door entrance, for which the key worked well. The unit is located on a quiet street, yet not more than a 10 minute walk to most all things in the Centrum. The unit was PLENTY spacious for one and would be comfortable for up to 3-4 people, depending on the extent of your stay. The owner, Paul, was very easy to work with, and ultimately laid-back and friendly.
My rating did not garner a full, 5-star rating based upon 2 reasons:
1) Computer/internet, advertised herein, did not function at all. I am not one that uses much internet while on vacation, but I like "having access" handy...just in case. This trip would prove to be just that case. I inadvertently left my wallet in a restaurant in the U.S. the night prior to my trip, and was left in a financial bind, in terms of accessing cash. Use of handy internet would have eased my minor "issue" more expeditiously in the home, but, no large deal in the grand scheme; as I accessed cash eventually and used internet elsewhere.
2) the bathroom. was not as disenchanted as some reviewers seemed, however, the toilet, located only feet from your resting head (in king-sized) bed, did have somewhat of a sewage odor, but one must realize, you are in Europe on a ground floor, and some odor is somewhat expected. You can close the bathroom door to eliminate any odor eminating into the bedding quarters. The shower did have a moderate musty/mildewey smell, and though not bothersome, the three-foot radius of tile around toilet region floor did "squish," when walked upon, but no water surfaced.
with the above being mentioned, I still give this place four enthusiastic stars. my candor should also speak to the sincerity of a "real" scenario/description.
another highlight is the centre courtyard, which affords privacy, a cool outdoor space, and a place to ventilate your smoke, if needs be.
