Smith Mountain Lake, VA: Smith Mountain Lake in central Virginia is a man-made lake about 50 years old. At the deepest point, which is near the mountain and the dam, it is over 200' deep. Most homes offer about 10' of depth at the end of the dock. Boating is a pleasure on this roomy lake, it has over 500 miles of shoreline and coves and inlets to discover for days and days of enjoyment. Our lake boasts a Virginia State Park with over 1200 acres of woods and over 5 miles of undisturbed shoreline, a true respite from a busy lifestyle when exploring these coves around the State Park with nothing to disturb you but the fish jumping. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch and stay out on the water for hours, swim from your boat anywhere you would like, pull up to the mountain and find a stretch of sand to beach your boat and hop off to stretch your legs - the mountain is Virginia State Forest. There are several islands you can pull into also if you would like, most are visitor friendly, some not.
