I truly rely on reviews in choosing my rentals, therefore, I felt the need to post this review.
I was very excited about the location of the property. It was very close to everything, and I loved its location to the grocery store, casinos, and ski resort (Heavenly). I was a bit surprised of the road condition to the property though. It was a private, unpaved road with a handwritten sign identifying its location. I can truly see it being very difficult to find and drive on during a good storm. You would definitely need a 4-wheel vehicle to reach the property if the homeowners don't clear the road.
I abided by the contract and arrived an hour after check-in time which was 3pm. To my surprise, the house cleaners were still there cleaning the home with their dog running through the property, including the rooms. I couldn't believe it because the property rules state no pets allowed. I didn't react because I was cold and tired and just wanted to relax, but I was informed that it was going to take them a few hours before they would be finished. The kitchen looked nicely remodeled with some work noticed throughout the home. However, the cleaning service was horrible. There were pee stains and hair found on the sheets in two of the rooms, and no extra linen left in the bathrooms. The service left their number for us to call if we should have any problems which we did notify them. Extra towels were provided the next day along with detergent in the wash room. We ended up, however, washing all of our sheets and blankets just to make sure the linen were clean. We also put the dishes in the dishwasher for an extra wash. I couldn't believe it. Members of my party complained about the twin beds in the downstairs bedrooms. The mattresses were hard and a couple of the beds were kept up with blocks underneath them. The twin beds are very old and the mattresses definitely need replacing.
I did notify the owner of the cleaning service situation which he showed great remorse, but informed me that he's had the service for 7yrs. He wish there was more that he could do, but he had to provide for his family too. I understood his situation due to the fact that he had waived the cleaning fee, but I definitely hope he prevents this incident from reoccurring. Owner's Response: Our repeat customers year after year for the last seven years, since the house was built, are testament to the hard work and personal care Anne and I devote to our customers. Unfortunately we can’t predict when emergencies occur, as it did that day, luckily the delay was for a very short period of time. The customer checked in upon arrival without delay, while housekeeping dealt with the matter diligently in a timely manner. Customer questioned a notable imperfection on a piece of linen which was an obvious bleach stain, certainly not pee. The mattress in question is brand-new and firm. Our experience with customer needs is to provide maximum comfort; although, preferences vary, the majority of patrons favor a firm mattress. Our housekeeping goes out of their way to ensure a clean and comfortable experience. no animals were in the home. The cabin is situated at lake level, on flat terrain, no incline what so ever and the road is well maintained in snow season. I am very disappointed that someone would use falsehoods and fabrications for personal gain and to besmirch the reputation of honest hard-working individuals. As always our commitment is to provide an enjoyable place to create memories.
