While I have never rented Kathy's Ali'i Kai unit, I have rented her other properties at Hale Moi. The reason I comment here is because of the owner. I have rented many properties via VRBO over the years, and I have never had an owner who was as awesome as Kathy. She is very quick to respond to inquiries, and she is always accessible if needed during one's stay - even 5,000 miles away. This is a gold-star owner/landlord! You will not be disappointed renting any of Kathy's properties. I lose count on the number of times I have rented from Kathy, but I hope my comment helps others in making a decision! A Kauai vacation is a magical, mystical experience, and to rent a place from a great landlord makes it even more enjoyable.

You can't ask for better accomodations or location than this. The place is beautiful and there were so many little unexpected amenities included, either by the owners and/or previous guests (we did the same) from spices in the cupboard to duct tape in the closet. How nice! You get the best of both worlds: a view of the water in front and the wildlife area in back. The pool/hot tub/barbeque area is close and very nice and was just the ticket after a day of hiking or sightseeing or zip lining or stand up paddle boarding or whale watching or . . . . The botanical gardens are wonderful (don't miss the nearest one - it's more expensive but you can just check out their gift shop for free & they sell a deck of cards for $1 that includes an aloha card that gets you discounts all over the place). The zip lining at nearby Princeville Ranch was fabulous, very very worth it! My 72-year-old mom loved it! The instructor for stand-up paddleboarding from Quicksilver (through Kayak Kauai in close by Hanalei) was great. Don't miss the Hanalei Coffee Roasters for their Kauai waffle (papaya, banana, macademia nuts with coconut syrup) and their delish iced coffee drinks. Or the Dolphin restaurant/fish market in Hanalei; wonderful spicy poke and sushi. We bought fresh fish & cooked great meals in the kitchen & had everything we needed; utensils, dishes, everything. The condo itself was super comfortable, the beds were great & it was so nice to have a washer/dryer right there. The office has beach stuff you can borrow to make your beach trips nicer: chairs, umbrellas, mats, snorkel gear, boogie boards, etc., and the staff were so nice - they'll you set up anything you want to do. If you don't have a fantastic time here, you are hopeless!!!

I stayed here with my parents and my two adult sistesrs for a family reunion. This place exceeded our expectations in every way. The location is unbeatable and the 360 degree views from every room,
( including the bathroom) is to die for!
The unit owner Kathy has done a great job of making sure that it is well equipped for a family stay. The unit was clean and very quiet and sipping coffee from the patio upfront every morning was fantastic! My only sore point was how long it took to get back to the unit every night after travelling south to Poipu or Lihuie etc.But a location as beautiful as this one comes with its price:-)

We stayed one month in a nicely furnished 2 bed, 2 bath condo. We had views of the ocean from the balcony and views of waterfalls from the kitchen. This area in Princeville is a part of two condo properties, with the older units having the unobstructed ocean views. Some upgrades are needed because the fans needed to be replaced. There isn't any air conditioning so we needed to have the bedroom fan on at night because of the humidity/temperature.
The only drawback was that the unit below began to renovate from 8 am to 5 pm. This only provided an inconvenience when it rained a lot and we had to stay in. (over three weeks of our vacation for this construction)
Overall, it is a great place to stay with access to a well maintained pool and jacuzzi, a nearby golf course (MaKai) and walking paths for exercise, and lastly, we could walk to Queen's Bath, Hideaways beach, and the St. Regis beach.

My review is awfully late, but my husband and I and our 8 month old daughter stayed at this lovely condo for a week at Christmas 2011. Kathy was very accommodating especially when I realized days before our departure that we had changed the dates midway through our email conversations and I had a signed contract for a different set of days. My horror the day before we were to leave!! Kathy (thank goodness) was able to work us into her schedule and we only had to find a room for one night at a Marriott as she had other guests coming in at the tail end. Overall it worked out just fine as we were even closer to the airport for departure.
Things I like to hear when I read these reviews:
Rooms were very large. Beds were VERY comfortable. 2 full bathrooms was fantastic. Views out both sides were perfect. It was very quiet (except for our daughter waking up at 4am for 3 days!!). We would walk up to Princeville Market area and have coffee and grab bites or some food.
We took a day trip to the canyon, and although I'm glad we did, it was a very long day with a baby. Next time I would just stay up in princeville and surrounding areas more. We had the most amazing brunch at the St Regis on Christmas (wow!) and I even saw Kevin Bacon walk in!! (heart stopped lol). It was within walking distance and they have a nice spa. Most of the surrounding area is golf courses and walking paths, so it was great!
The living room/dining room area was perfect wicker furniture and wall to wall mirrors so the baby was entertained and I felt very safe with the furniture. I rented a pack and play up in the princeville area and stopped by to pick it up-I actually found the lady on Craigslist and she gave us some toys also.
The pools were pretty cold in December but that was ok.
We did need to rent a car for sure.
Kathy refunded our deposit immediately after departure. She was great to work with and very trustworthy. We nearly wanted to buy a condo in this complex it was so perfect.

My boyfriend and i had a great time staying here. Its in a great location with beautiful mountain views from one bedroom, and the sound of the ocean waves from the other. We walked to turtle cave and to queens bath on two different adventurous trails. The condo is very quiet and peaceful, minus the roosters of course that crow througout the night, but this happens everywhere on the island. We will definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed the mountain views and the location so close to many beautiful beaches. The pool was very nice and the grounds were immaculate. Not many negatives other than too much rain.

Thank you for renting this unit to us. We also enjoyed your Hale Moi unit as well. This condo is larger and was pleasantly decorated and very functional. The views of ocean and mountains was breathtaking, the sounds of the ocean and birds was lovely. Being an end unit and upstairs assured a feeling of privacy and quiet. There is beauty all around!
We enjoyed walking in the neighborhood almost every day. The pool and jacuzzi were nice but the many beaches were even better. We enjoyed Hanalei, Tunnels, Ke'e, Anini, and Poipu in the south the best.
We climbed the hills behind Hanalei and look forward to the ones we haven't done. We enjoyed going to Hanalei Village with Hanalei Coffee Roasters (formerly Java Kai-same owner) for morning coffee,
Strings and Things for a ukelele and yarn for knitting, the Saturday Farmers Market and Sunday Hanalei River Fair (music, arts and crafts and food) and other local events. There is something for everyone.
