A beautiful place to get away from it all...

This home was by far the best vacation rental we have ever stayed at. It is really a beautiful and peaceful oasis where you can leave your cares behind for a little while.
The home itself is open and spacious, with lots of windows, looking out into the wooded and very private yard. The smell of the flowers and the sound of the waterfall in one of the ponds allow you to instantly relax when you walk outside. Becki and Tom have truly made this house a home, with family pictures, artwork, and an unbelievable music and book collection. The music can be piped into the kitchen and/or living room, so that you can listen to it while you are cooking, etc. --and the kitchen is huge and has anything you would need to cook or bake, along with cookbooks and lots of spices. We really enjoyed preparing meals at home, instead of eating out all the time. The location is great too, because you can drive to many harbor/coastal towns and beaches within 15-45 minutes, (and we even drove up to Moosehead lake, and Acadia National Park, each about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive) The bathrooms and bedrooms are all beautifully decorated and spacious/airy.
It was a wonderful retreat to wake up to and come back home to after a day of hiking, kayaking, etc. I actually felt sorry for the folks that we saw on our way home from places, as they pulled into the parking lots of their little motel rooms, while we were going back to a peaceful and spacious home.
This would also be a great place to go if you didn't want to hardly go anywhere, because it is just so nice and relaxing hanging out at the house, enjoying the scenery, and listening to music and/or reading/spending time with friends and family. We will definitely return if we are ever in Maine again!
