Welcome to the Greer Farm, a unique rural haven tucked away from the stresses of urban America. We have four lakeside luxury log cabins and have a hideaway loft in a barn, This is a unique opportunity to stay at a working farm with lush pastures, towering pine trees and hardwoods nestled in the slow moving world of Northeast Texas. You can see how we raise grow and produce vegetables, hay, fruit and berries, pine timber, goats and raise our beautiful fullblood red and white Maine-Anjou cattle. The lake is stocked and there are boats for fishing, canoing or paddle boat. The bas record is 10 pounds. Its the perfect place for a romantic weekend away or a family getaway. Check our website at for information on private dining, the pick-your-own berry patch and gourmet cooking classes.

99 cent movies: The Morris Theater in Daingerfield has been showing first run movies since 1949. Today when it tears up a $20 bill to go to a movie, have a soft drink and bag of popcorn, in the city, you can do it in Daingerfield for 99 cents.

Daingerfield State Park: If you like parks, the Daingerfield State Park is only a few minutes away. It is beautiful year round and has a nice loop walking trail. It is nature at its best in Spring with the Dogwood in bloom and in November with spectacular fall foliage. There is a great children's playground on the hill in the center of the park surrounded by a large clear lake.

Wineries, live music and more: There are three nearby wineries, several opportunities for live music and some interesting rural museums.

We had the best time at this farm. My three little kids (3 yr old twins and 7 yr old) had a ball fishing, feeding the horses, goats, and chickens, collecting eggs.... It is a beautifully kept property and the cabins are fresh and clean. I highly recommend it for a Y group, mulitple family get away, ... I cant wait to take a cooking class too!
Owner's Response: We are a real working family farm and make an extra effort to make our farm feel at home to families. We are kid friendly!

A wonderful family get away!

Staying at this farm was a great experience for our family of 4, which includes 2 small children. The owners are very hospitable folks who provide beautiful, newly built cabins for the guests' enjoyment. The cabins have most everything that a nice hotel room would offer with the privacy and scenery of the beautiful East Texas piney woods. These cabins were just completed in April 2008, and are immaculately clean and well stocked with the things guests would need to cook meals, sleep and shower. There is Direct TV, a DVD player and CD player, plus a kichenett with dishes, a stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, and toaster, If you bring charcoal, there is a Coleman grill provided for each cabin, plus a nice picnic table and also nice metal lawn seating and pit for a campfire. You can enjoy feeding animals, gathering wood, talking nice walks, riding boats, fishing, horseshoes, and volleyball, and if you go in certain times of the summer, (we didn't), you can pick berries! Oh, and the hosts provide homemade bread and delicious homemade jam for the guests as well. You must see this place! You won't be disappointed. It is a wonderful get-away from the city and everyday life.

Perfection

My boyfriend and I questioned whether it would be worth driving 5 hours from Austin to Greer Farm, but that doubt went away the second we arrived. We couldn't be happier that we made the trip.

Our 2 nights stay was exactly what we wanted. The countryside is picturesque and yes, you can actually see stars when you get away from town! We arrived to the hide-away loft and it looks exactly like the photos. And, we had fresh baked bread and blackberry jam made from scratch, picked from their land waiting for us.

It's an awesome place that blends rustic charm seamlessly with personal touches and modern conveniences. So, we had fresh cut flowers from the garden on our table, and a stereo that could connect to an ipod, and wireless internet access. We had free roaming permission on the farm, and were just asked to close the gate behind us if we went into a field so that the animals wouldn't get out. Fabulous! We swam, we kayaked, we took a quick bike ride down the country road. Sid and Eva invite guests to help feed animals if they wish, and I'm sure this would be a huge hit with kids. I helped collect eggs, just for fun. : )

I highly recommend Greer Farm for couples, and for families. You will find lots of little touches that make the experience wonderful. It's a stand out place, and we had the escape we were hoping for and more.
