A Month in Paradise
The condo itself is better than the listing. Large and comfortable, it served well for our base of operation. The A/C throughout truly made this property a pleasure to rent. We didn't find ourselves using the A/C too much, but it was nice to have it when we needed it. Also, the electrical use was included in the reasonable monthly rental. Not too many Punta Cana properties can make that claim. Special merit must be given to Migalito Antonio (young son of the night guard) who proved indispensable while Bartolo (manager) was off property temporarily due to an injury. Bartolo and his wife were always helpful and kind throughout our stay. Mariana (owner) answered every question we had before we arrived in Bavaro Beach and offered good advice regarding grocery stores, taxis, restaurants, and the condo itself. We found an absolutely wonderful restaurant by chance the first night and ended up eating there a half a dozen other evenings. It's called Bella Napoli and by its name is Italian. Francesco is the owner's son, who waits upon table and speaks at least three languages. His father makes the very best pizza outside of Italy. We could never say enough good things about what we ate and how we were treated (like family!) every time we sat down to their sumptuous meals, in addition to their wide-ranging pizza menu. They are justifiably busy, so make a reservation. They will hold a table for you. The beach was a 10-12 minute walk from the condo, but was well worth the effort. We tried to take two long walks on the exquisite beaches every day. The supermercado is a 10 minute walk and their selections are not as plentiful as we are accustomed to, but we made do. Larger grocery stores are a taxi or local bus ride away. We chose to walk every day it was open (Mon-Sat) and just incorporated it in our daily exercise. Besides, it gave us the excuse we needed to eat out more than we usually do while in the DR. It would be easy to recommend this property to friends and family alike. The only reason I would try to keep it to myself is a selfish one.
If you chose to have a car while here, there are good places to park at the condo complex and it's guarded 24/7. And your own transportation could allow more variety in food shopping, as well as better prices. But it is not essential. All in all, we enjoyed our month in the sun and the Cocomar Condo was instrumental in providing us a comfortable and safe haven from which to make the most of our DR visit. Thank you, Mariana!
