Villa Collecimino is a spacious, self-catering, detached property with plunge pool, located in 3.5 acres of orchards, olive groves and agricultural land on top of a hill 550 metres above sea-level, with stunning panoramic views of the Appennine mountains on one side and the Adriatic sea on the other. Both apartments have terraces where you can dine, sunbathe or just enjoy the beautiful views of Abruzzo. It is just 40 minutes from Pescara airport, 30 minutes from the beaches and 40 minutes from the mountains. The villa consists of two separate self contained apartments each with their own private entrance. The apartments can also be rented together (at a discount) - ideal for a holiday with extended family or with groups of friends. Please see our own website for more details. Guests are welcome to make use of the gardens and grounds surrounding the property. There are proper roads all the way from the airport to Villa Collecimino - no dirt tracks to negotiate!

Villa Collecimino: Ideal for rest and relaxation, Villa Collecimino is located in 3.5 acres of orchards, olive groves and agricultural land. It is situated 550 metres above sea-level in a small hamlet which has regular visits from a mobile baker, butcher, and fishmonger. There is a large supermarket and a range of shops just a 10 minute drive away in Cesi. 15 minute drive from the historic medieval towns of Penne and Castiglione MR. There are many wonderful places to eat locally - 5 minutes' walk from an 'agriturismo' offering delicious meals from home-grown produce, and a short drive from many other restaurants as well as the best seafood restaurant we have ever visited.

If you would like to visit our own website, please click on the link under location.

Attractions and Excursions: The Gran Sasso and Majella National Parks are just a short drive away. You can enjoy majestic mountain scenery with a wide variety of flora and fauna, and, if you are lucky, you may spot a wild bear, wolf or chamois. On the edge of the National Park is Castelli, a beautiful medieval town nestled in the mountains, renowned for its hand-painted ceramics. (There are many interesting medieval hilltop towns and villages in the area.) In the other direction, just 30-40 minutes from our villa, are the pine-fringed, clean sandy beaches of the Adriatic, that stretch for more than 15 miles. Other attractions include golf, winter sports, and, if you feel the need for some pampering, you could try one of Abruzzo’s thermal spas - the waters in this area are renowned for their healing and detoxifying properties.

We have lived in Newhaven, East Sussex on the south coast of the UK, since 1997. We love views - our house in Newhaven is perched on top of a hill with views right out to sea - we can see the ships in the shipping lanes plus great views of the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry every time it comes in and all the boats going in and out of the marina. We run a small translation business from home - my husband Marek is a linguist and I do all the admin, finances and day to day running of the business. In our spare time - I sing at weddings, funerals and with a chamber choir and Marek likes to dance - 'strictly ballroom' style.

Annie or Marek Lorys purchased this apartment in 2004

We went to Italy in 2004 looking for a property and stumbled upon this one on our 2nd day. We fell in love with it and its extraordinary and stunning location and there was no looking back......

Stunning location, stunning views of both the Apennine mountains in one direction and the Adriatic sea in the other. Both apartments have great views. It is also very peaceful and unspoilt.

June 06 We can only reiterate our fellow guests' comments, so beautiful and peaceful. We found ourselves wanting to whisper so as not to disturb the silence! One week was not quite enough time for us... we hope to return soon to this breathtaking scenery and lovely apartment, which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

Our first holiday together and it was magical! What a perfect place to come and stay at. Really relaxed, enjoyed visiting Atri market and Penne and who can forget the beautiful views of the mountains - meal times will not be the same at home! Truly a wonderful holiday in Italy's last wilderness - Abruzzo!

Beautiful house, stunning location......

We found the house to be very beautiful, in a stunning location and the presence of Vincenzo and Eva [our keyholders] makes it a joy to stay at. The book of information compiled by you was indispensable to enjoying the region. But it is not easy to navigate as a non-local - there are no street lights on the mountain roads and the roads are not in good condition. We really enjoyed the walks you described in the book and the garden and pool really enhance the house further. In short we really enjoyed our stay - Abruzzo is stunning, rustic and authentic. We want to thank you for the wonderful holiday we had!

Absolute Peace

If you seek somewhere to get away from it all then this could be the spot for you. From the moment you awaken in the morning to the views of the surrounding mountains, until the moment you close your shutters on the twinkling lights of the villages below you, tranquility is yours. Paradoxically you can also drive down the mountain to the Adriatic Coast with miles and miles of golden sands, and hundreds of different restersunts lining the sea-front. Or you can drive up the mountain and seek out the Aruzzo sheep dogs with their spiked collars to protect them from bears and wolves.
Fresh food is realy cheap in the supermarkets, but processed food is expensive, the only quibble I would make about the apartment is that the oven is very tempermental. Other than that when six people are staying then two are on makeup beds in the lounge, which may not suit everyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your comments - we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear that you had a problem with the oven - thank you for bringing it to our attention - we will get this fixed.

Thanks Annie and Marek for another great holiday – our third time here and we’re already planning the next visit!
It’s been a pleasure, as ever, to meet up with everyone here again. San Giorgio and Villa Collecimino are beginning to be our ‘home from home’. Luke has enjoyed every tractor ride/motorbike ride and visit to Eva and Vincenzo, and meeting Toto’s pigs on the last evening was the icing on the cake! See you in 2010. We had an absolutely wonderful time at Villa Collecimino. The villa was spotlessly clean, beautiful and well equipped, and we received a warm, friendly welcome. It was dark when we arrived but when we opened the french doors the next morning - WOW - the views were amazing. We spent our week exploring the National Park and the mountains where the natural beauty was breathtaking, we were also very brave and went to Rome for the day, we managed an open top bus tour and a visit to the Colosseum, driving in the rush hour to leave and drive back to the villa was a totally mad experience, but we enjoyed every minute. Many thanks.
