WOW!!!

My friend and I just completed a 3 night stay at this home. We have visited the Blairsville area for the past 15 years and have stayed at many places for different lenghts of time. My only complaint was that our stay could not have been longer. The home is extremely well kept and comfortable. And what can be said about the view. It is "Incredible"
Thanks to Doug and Beckie for an extremely enjoyable and smooth transaction and for the opportunity to stay at your home.
Highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to experience a "Little slice of Heaven."
Owner's Response: We want "The Overlook" to be more than you expected, we love to hear back from our guest. Everyone needs to slow down and be at peace with mountains, breathe in some fresh air, and enjoy what life has to offer. It seems impossible, but when you walk out on the deck, and stare into the mountains, a calming feeling will take over your body. Try living the simple life for just a couple of days or a week, and leave your stress behind.

WOW!!!!

Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Words cannot express nor photos capture the true beauty of the view from this property! It is definitely one of God's masterpieces. Our week here was wonderful. The home was beautiful, clean, comfortable and very well stocked (lots of little extras like laundry soap, spices, etc., and more dishes and appliances than you'll ever need) The hottub was the highlight, with the cool evenings and the dramatic view. The weather was great - the a/c never kicked on - with brisk mornings and cool evenings. The neighborhood is gorgeous, and walks there replace your gym workout! Unless you just love tourist trap shopping - just drive through Helen to see the view and photo ops. Your time is better spent at the local waterfalls (no you cannot see them all in one day) and outdoor attractions. Big Al's pizza was Delicious and we had the sweetest little waitress ever! The folks at the Hiawassee Antique Mall are so nice and go all out to help you. (They made a ton of phone calls to arrange an economical delivery of a furniture purchase to Fl for us.) We never made it to the local lake, but plan to on the next visit. Rafted the Ocoee in TN - Awesome!! Distance wise you're very close to many activities, but because you're in the mountains it takes about an hour. The scenery is beautiful, so the drives don't seem long, and there are a million views to photograph. Doug was extremely helpful in arranging our trip, as it was kind of last minute, and checking in with us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We have told all of our friends to visit here and we will definitely be back!

Thanks Doug and Becky for sharing you gorgeous home with us. It was one of our best vacations ever!

Breathtaking Views...Wonderful Home

The Overlook was everything I expected and more! It was very very clean, well maintained, and so spacious. The views were just unbelievable until one is there to see for ones-self. The description was very acurate...it just didn't prepare us for exactly how accurate and "on-target" it was! The extra amenities that aren't often included (hand soap, shower gel, coffee & filters, spices in the cabinet, etc.), the spaciousness of this home, the master bath, the wonderful hot tub with magnificent views all added up to a great vacation in spite of the weather this time of year.
It was nice to have a notebook in The Overlook with area activites, attractions and restaurants.
The owner was very easy to work with, very accommodating. The directions and map we were given by the owner were easy to follow and exact.
We had not visited this area before and just loved our vacation here. The weather was cool and gray for the week, except for one day, so we didn't participate in any outdoor activities, other than enjoying the marvelous view from the deck of this home! We did drive throughout the are just to see different views and were not disappointed at all.
We visited Helen, Ga., also. We were disappointed in it. Many shops were either no longer inexistence or not open when we were there. Many were simply "touristy" type shops. Places to eat lunch in Helen were limited as well. The architecture and buildings were interesting to see though. We did enjoy the day, in spite of the disappointment in the town.
We enjoyed several restaurants in Hiawassee, though. Our favorite was The Marina, across the highway from the home. We also enjoyed Smoke Rings BBQ, and Monte Alban Mexican Restaurant, all in Hiawasse. We did eat buffet at Daniel's Steakhouse, but didn't order off the menu. The buffet was ok, but food selection on the buffet was pretty limited.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Overlook when visiting this area. We hope to come back sometime and stay here again.
We loved our time here..and found everything at The Overlook wonderful, and the people in this area so friendly.

Excellent Stay!

My new wife and I chose "The Overlook" to spend our honeymoon in March 2009. Doug was such a gracious host, eager to help any way that he could. He called to make sure we made it safely and that we departed safely. The property was very clean and well maintained. Plenty of towels, hot water. Gorgeous master bathroom and the view is to die for! The barbecue grill got plenty of use during our stay and the kitchen had all the silverware and utensils that we needed. Did I mention the hot tub? What a great was to relax after a stressful day of driving or hiking. The off season price was something I couldn't pass up. The house is roomy and cozy, very well decorated for the mountain theme, big screen TV with DVD's and games. Gatlinburg is about 2 hours away, but plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area. I have reccomended this property to my friends and we all hope to make the trip up next March. Give Doug and Becky's "Overlook" a try, you won't be disappointed.

Great Stay

My husband and I just got home from spending 2 nights at the "OverLook" for our Anniversary. It rained all weekend and in the low 40's. Great weather to sit in the hot tub, stay inside and read, or go on winery tasting trips. We visited 4 in the area. If you can only get to two be sure to see Crane Creek in Young Harris and Tiger Moountain 2 miles south of Clayton. Both are great. At Crane Lake on Sat. for lunch 11:00 till the soup runs out, they had soup & wine $5.00. The soup was Irish Stew, wine is your choice of what they make there.
The weekend was great. Greg is a very accommodating.

Great Experience for our whole family

Our family just stayed at "The Overlook" and we had a fantastic time! The house is immaculate yet cozy and the view is gorgeous! Doug and Beckie have thought of every little detail and they have it available for your use including their extensive children's DVD library and board games. We especially enjoyed the spectacular view while sitting in the hot tub! It is wonderful to be within two hours of Atlanta yet feel like you are so far away! On the way home we stopped at Helen, GA, and we want to come back and go "tubing" down the Chattahoochee River in the summer. We would also like to try hiking on the numerous trails nearby. We were very comfortable in Doug and Beckie's spacious and lovely home. Also, an added plus was that our daughter was able to use her walker easily in their home. Doug and Beckie were wonderful hosts and we definitely recommend their home for a fantastic getaway!

The pictures do no justice! The view is awesome! This cabin rental is a MUST! Doug was great, he even called to make sure we got there ok.

Very clean and stocked with everything you will need. There is a lot to do around the area or you could just stay in and feel at home. However, make it a point to visit Brasstown Bald (highest point in Georgia), you will feel on top of the world.

A big thanks to Doug and Beckie. We will be back!

Great Stay at the

We highly recommend the "Overlook" It has a gorgeous view from almost every room in the house. Beautiful views of the lake. We went there over the Thanksgiving holiday - it was an excellent place to spend the holidays, to get away from the big city and just veg out. The house is so clean and kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed. One of the best places that we have rented. We ate out a couple of times (Brasstown Valley Resort + in town), but ate most of our meals there - didn't need to go anywhere. The owners were great to deal with - even called to make sure we arrived and that everything was ok. We hope to go back and would highly recommend "The Overlook". You will not be disappointed.

Perfect for Relaxing

Review Submitted: November 18, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
The pictures of the view were enough to draw us in, but they don't really do justice to the outstanding beauty. The morning fog covers the whole lake area in the morning, looking like a blanket of billowing snow. As it clears, you are captivated by the breathtaking scenes before you.

Loved the house - everything was spotlessly clean and very charmingly furnished. It all looked brand new and just made it so easy to relax and feel at home. The hot tub was a wonderful way to end the day.

Our contact person was great to work with. We left on Friday and were pleasantly surprised to find our deposit return check in the mail on Monday!

We enjoyed dinner at a couple of great restaurants in the area. The service was excellent. We cooked dinner and lunch in our fully equipped kitchen, as well.

We went over to Blairsville and hiked through Meeks Park. Another afternoon we drove to Helen (23 Miles) and hiked all over that charming town. There are so many activities available for active families to enjoy but we really went for R&R and that's what we did!

We highly recommend this great property!

We absolutely loved this house. The view is spectacular. We loved the way you can see the lake from practicaly anywhere in the house. It was very clean and well taken care of. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We didn't want to eat out because we ate all of our meals on the deck. The hottub was really nice too. We highly recommend "The Overlook". You will not be disappointed. The owners were very helpful with any questions and went above anything we could have expected, and they called to make sure everything was okay.
Owner's Response: We love to hear back from our guest, and a BIG THANKS for all the compliments. We will continue monitoring our guest feedback and make improvements as time passes.
We are excited about 2009 improvements, our plans are to expand the DVD library from 60 to an amazing 10,000+ streaming video library to offer great entertainment for all our future guest. We want your vacation to be more than you expected and make new friends while doing it.
