Vine House is a stylish, very comfortable, self contained wing of an 18C manor in extensive grounds. It has a private terrace with Weber bbq, dining & lounging furniture just a few steps from the fully alarmed heated pool (shared with B&B guests). Vine House was restored to retain original terracotta tiled floors, beamed ceilings and monumental (working) fireplace. The ground floor is open plan and divides naturally into a cosy sitting area and a country-style dining/kitchen area. Generous comfy sofas around the fire, selection of games, books and magazines, cd player, iPod dock, flat screen tv with English freeview channels, dvd player. A door leads directly onto the terrace.
At the other end of the room is the kitchen area with cooker, microwave, fridge and Smeg dishwasher. A separate butcher's block provides additional workspace and there is plenty of crockery, glasses etc. The large dining table comfortably seats 6 with ample space for a highchair (supplied on request).
A large ground floor shower room offers a double shower, w.c. and wash basis. Provencal liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo and a hairdryer are provided. A utility rea has washing machine, clothes airer, iron and ironing board, hoover etc.
The staircase leads up into the spacious, pretty beamed attic with 3 lovely bedrooms (1 king size & 2 super-king size/twin) & a bath/shower room with WC. Upstairs rooms have exposed beams, the landing and bedrooms have natural floor covering whilst the bathroom has a tiled floor. All are furnished in country style with built in wardrobes, a chest of drawers, dressing table & chair, bedside tables with reading lamps & top quality beds dressed with Egyptian cotton bed linens & both soft and firm pillows. Personal towels, generously sized bathrobes & pool towels are provided.
The Jade Room offers twin beds or a super-king, as does The Pink Room and The Pumpkin Room has a 5 foot double. The bathroom has wc, basin, bath & overhead shower. Cot, cot linens, highchair, potty,toddler steps, stair-gate, baby monitor all available on request free of charge.
Food and Drink at Le Bignon/Vine House: All guests staying at Le Bignon and Vine House are welcome to take breakfast and/or dinner as required.
A Breakfast Buffet (24 hours notice please) is available at 9am each morning at 9 euros per person. In addition to freshly squeezed fruit juice, filter coffee, hot chocolate or a selection of Twinings teas you can enjoy a buffet of cereals, cold meat, cheeses, smoked salmon, yogurt and fresh fruit with breads, croissants, local honey and home made jams and jellies, such as quince, redcurrant and orange, damson and mulberry.
Dinner is served Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat evenings in the dining room or on the terrace at 8.00pm and is 28 Euro per person.
A Typical Dinner Menu: Tomato & Basil Tartlet; Pan Roasted Breast of Free Range Duck with Damson Sauce OR Charlotte of Chargrilled Garden Aubergines with Ratatouille & Goats Cheese Filling; Selection of Cheeses with walnuts from the garden; Something Disgracefully Chocolatey! Coffee. The wine list includes Anjou, Saumur & Muscadet and there is an Honesty Bar.
Chambres d'Hote (Bed & Breakfast): In the Manor House, our 3 fabulous rooms on the 2nd floor are decorated in Toile de Juoy & are light & bright with a low key elegance. The Black Room & the Red Room can be arranged as either twins or super kings & the Blue Room is a king size. The top quality beds are dressed with Egyptian cotton bed linen & all rooms offer stylish furnishings, ample storage & comfy chairs to sit and read or enjoy a quiet drink. Tea, coffee & biscuits are provided. En suite shower rooms offer thermostatically controlled showers, Egyptian cotton towels and bathrobes, hair-dryer & Arran Aromatics toiletries. On the ground floor, the cosy Guests Sitting Room has books, games & magazines plus Honesty Bar. Aperitifs & after dinner coffee are served here in the evenings. Dinner (28 Euro pp for 4 courses + coffee) is served in the elegant Dining Room or on the Terrace. B&B 80 - 95 Euro per room depending upon Season & number of nights.
