My daughter and I decided on a trip to Sedona in May to celebrate her 40th birthday -- a girls' vacation ... no husbands, pets, or work responsibilities. We first looked online into resorts/spas/hotels, but weren't really impressed. Then we lucked into Goldie's incredible home, which we rented for a week. It was WAY larger than we needed at about the same price as the smaller hotel rooms at the resorts -- and next time we will bring other family or friends -- but it was just a PERFECT vacation retreat for the two of us to catch up. We drank coffee in the morning on the deck facing East and gorgeous rock formations, and drank wine at night watching the sunset. It was completely relaxing. The house is incredible, with any amenity you'd want. We never cooked a meal (yep, it was a REAL vacation), but the kitchen was awesome and complete with all the appliances and supplies you'd ever think of. The house is in West Sedona, in a fairly private area, but very close to everything. Goldie is a wonderful landlord -- very kind, fair, and accommodating. She helped guide us with local interests (Sedona Film Festival offered a wonderful new film, with the director present for Q&A while we were in town), has decorated the house with beautiful artwork, comfortable furniture, and skylights all over to provide great lighting. The house is very spacious (about 3000+ sf upstairs), and though the downstairs area is also lived in, it wasn't apparent -- no noise or activity was noticeable. Cactus gardens and a small orchard outside added extra uniqueness. Sedona and the surrounding area is just unbelievably beautiful. It's as if a small town was built first, then redrock mountain formations placed all around it. Any direction you look would provide amazing views. Having lived in Florida most of my life, it was a wonderful contrast. Our favorite nearby town was Jerome --wonderful art galleries, shopping and quaintness --another suggestion from Goldie. Sedona also had great shopping, lots of western/Indian items as well as modern art. I would highly recommend this rental property to anyone coming to the area. There is no pool or spa onsite to compete with local hotels -- but who cares! This is a perfect vacation retreat -- for just a couple, or a full family. This was truly a perfect vacation spot --we're looking forward to another one here again! Life is definitely good :--).........
