Fantastic location and property

Greyray Portsmouth, England
Review Submitted: June 23, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Where to begin ? We needed a home to accommodate 7 of us, the family make up of our group required 5 separate bedrooms due to age range of group, this really is a perfect multifamily property. Do not be put off about this property being a duplex home with caretakers living below, you would never know,if the notes on this site did not inform you. Be aware that this property is located in a very quite location and any noise can be heard over a large distance, not a good idea for large noisy groups or spring break party type vacationers There is a ramp leading up to the decking area so a wheelchair user could get upto the property with assistance. As with other reviews, this home was much more than we expected, much bigger inside than the pictures seem to portray, lots of local information and maps inside the property to assist you during your stay. Although this property is listed on one site as 4 beds and a den ,the den is a large room that makes a fantastic 5th bedroom, our 22 year old son loved te den,it even has its own walk out doors onto the decking area. The scenery around the property and the views from within is just beyond explanation and has to be seen to be believed, we were fortunate to have one very clear night and we got to see why the property has been named star gazers delight. The color of the rocks as the sun starts to set adds to the delight of this area. Great base location for trips to Williams,Grand Canyon, Meteor crater ect, If you do the trips to Grand canyon from here do yourself a favour and come back along a different route taking in Cottonwood and Jerome as you will get to see even more of Sedona on this route. We would highly recommend this property and we would love to stay here again. That only leaves me to say a very big thank you to the owners for making the decision to rent out their property and to also say thank you for the use of the supermarket savers card and hiking pass, both were used and very much appreciated.
Owner's Response: Ray thank you for your review I was happy to meet you and your family I know you enjoyed the home and Sedona it is nice to see families and friends get together and share times and memories. Hope you will return I know you really enjoyed Sedona good health and many travels in the future

A Great Place for Families

Halo Fan Orange County, CA
Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We had 6 adults and 2 toddlers staying at the Star Gazers for 4 days. The house was perfect. Since it was 1 story, we had no problem with our kids running around, and there was plenty of space (3,000 SF) for us to spread out in the kitchen and living areas. The bedrooms and bathrooms were ideal for each couple to have some privacy. Having a nice spacious kitchen was perfect for family meals, especially breakfast.

The property itself is very private but not too far from town. It's about a 10 minute drive to downtown Sedona. There is a nearby hiking trail (Thunder Mountain) that was ideal for a morning hike, and any skill level. The wrap around deck is a great place to spend the evenings star-gazing or just relaxing.

Owners Goldie and Marc were very kind and easy to work with. We very much enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back again soon. The price was very reasonable and the home was very cozy.

Reunion of teachers

Nancy and friends Encinitas, CA
Review Submitted: September 22, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Six retired teachers from Vista, Oakdale, Encinitas, Costa Mesa, and Las Vegas met at the Star Gazers' Delight in Sedona for the most delightful 4 days and nights. Besides enjoying the wonders of Sedona and all the fabulous shopping, our time at this beautiful home was truly a delight. We spent hours around the dining room table eating and playing games, and more hours outside on the patio talking and taking in the beauty of the surroundings.
The kitchen was so grand and allowed us to cook gourmet breakfasts and serve on different tableware every morning. The bedrooms were comfortable, and we had plenty of bathroom space. We even enjoyed hearing the coyotes howling in the distance in the middle of the night. And, of course, the stars were beyond description.
Thank you, Goldie, for allowing us to share your home. You were so kind to meet us when we arrived and fill us in on all of the particulars. We had a really great time.
Nancy, Jeanne, Betty, Sharon, Brenda, and Sheri.

Star Gazers Delight

Review Submitted: January 29, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
A real Delight Home . Better then we expected. Views from all directions. Great location. Very clean and maintained. The owner helped us with suggesting the film festival previews on Tuesday nights and left books for us such as restaurants and hiking in Sedona. Plus a hiking trail pass was left for our enjoyment. Very thoughtful. Rooms are large, 4 bedrooms and den , 2 bedrooms have their own bathroom the other two rooms have their private sink getting ready area ,it felt like we all had are own bathrooms. (4) . The kitchen is a great place for gathering with its long 12 ft granite island area. The wrap around deck has a table with chairs for out door dining and many little sitting areas and lounge chairs for relaxing .There are hiking trails out the front door. You are away from traffic noise . Restaurants and markets are 8 minutes away.
Grand Canyon trip for the day was great it takes about 2 hrs and 15 minutes. We left in the morning and was back for sitting on the deck and BBQ dinner. I would recommend this property to a friend I would like to return.
Owner's Response: Than you for your positive review I am glad you had a great vacation. I hope you will return in the future.

I would definitely recommend this property! It was clean, in a private location, had lots of kitchen space, great decks all around the house, and fantastic views. We really enjoyed our morning coffee and our dinners on the deck. And only 5 mins. from town. It is all the said it would be.

The Search Is Over

I've been coming to Sedona once to twice a year for the past 3 years. We usually rent a house for our stay. Although we've stayed in some beautiful homes none of them have made me say this is it, this is where I want to stay when I come back to Sedona. Finally my search is over I've found it!! Star Gazers will be my home away from home. Star Gazers has it all. Anything you could possibly need or want was at our fingertips. The wrap around deck allows you to relax and enjoy the beautiful views on every side. It's close to town but far enough away that you don't feel like your in the city. Your surrounded by nature and all of it's wonders. We saw deer, coyotes, and birds galore in the yard. There's walking trails right out the front door. The house was clean and well maintained. The furnishings made us feel comfortable and right at home the minute we walked through the door. The kitchen is a chef's delight. I throughly enjoyed the opportunity to cook in such a spacious, well stocked kitchen. The beds were comfortable and everything couldn't have been more perfect. Plenty of bathrooms. This trip to Sedona it was just my mother, best friend, and me. Next trip I would like to bring the whole family! I didn't get a chance to meet the caretakers this visit but I'm definitely looking forward to it in the near future.

Sedona fun !!!

Review Submitted: October 14, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
My daughter and I decided on a trip to Sedona in May to celebrate her 40th birthday -- a girls' vacation ... no husbands, pets, or work responsibilities. We first looked online into resorts/spas/hotels, but weren't really impressed. Then we lucked into Goldie's incredible home, which we rented for a week. It was WAY larger than we needed at about the same price as the smaller hotel rooms at the resorts -- and next time we will bring other family or friends -- but it was just a PERFECT vacation retreat for the two of us to catch up. We drank coffee in the morning on the deck facing East and gorgeous rock formations, and drank wine at night watching the sunset. It was completely relaxing. The house is incredible, with any amenity you'd want. We never cooked a meal (yep, it was a REAL vacation), but the kitchen was awesome and complete with all the appliances and supplies you'd ever think of. The house is in West Sedona, in a fairly private area, but very close to everything. Goldie is a wonderful landlord -- very kind, fair, and accommodating. She helped guide us with local interests (Sedona Film Festival offered a wonderful new film, with the director present for Q&A while we were in town), has decorated the house with beautiful artwork, comfortable furniture, and skylights all over to provide great lighting. The house is very spacious (about 3000+ sf upstairs), and though the downstairs area is also lived in, it wasn't apparent -- no noise or activity was noticeable. Cactus gardens and a small orchard outside added extra uniqueness. Sedona and the surrounding area is just unbelievably beautiful. It's as if a small town was built first, then redrock mountain formations placed all around it. Any direction you look would provide amazing views. Having lived in Florida most of my life, it was a wonderful contrast. Our favorite nearby town was Jerome --wonderful art galleries, shopping and quaintness --another suggestion from Goldie. Sedona also had great shopping, lots of western/Indian items as well as modern art. I would highly recommend this rental property to anyone coming to the area. There is no pool or spa onsite to compete with local hotels -- but who cares! This is a perfect vacation retreat -- for just a couple, or a full family. This was truly a perfect vacation spot --we're looking forward to another one here again! Life is definitely good :--).........

This past summer we went on a family vacation. We went with 3 families and the stargazer home was the perfect place to stay. The house layout is perfect for the multifamily vacation. the home has an open floor plan and a beautiful wrap around porch. The kitchen is loaded with all of the essentials that made eating in a lot of fun. I recommend this house for those who want to enjoy the outdoor fun that Sedona has to offer.
