cozy getaway
Great Island/Point Judith is a prime location for a total Rhode Island sightseeing experience, we did everything from bake in the sun on a nearby state beach, to explore the streets and mansions of Newport by bus tour, to view lighthouses from the water on a lighthouse cruise, to spend some pleasant hours on Block Island. If you like seafood, there's no end to places and possibilities both near and far, from chowder at a diner, to fried oysters on a deck overlooking the water, as fancy or as rough as you like. The house is more than adequate for a couple or a small family, a bit on the rustic side but fully outfitted and conveniently located in a quiet residential area. We had a great view of Point Judith Pond, watched boaters coming and going over our morning coffee sitting at the dining table in the Florida room, saw scuba divers and other recreational clammers and swimmers in the pond, watched seagulls feed, went for walks on the island, sightseeing all over the state, all in all a very relaxing vacation!
The property is well-maintained, the owner is pleasant and helpful to deal with, and though the accomodations are by no means luxurious, you can't go wrong for the price, and you couldn't find a better location to enjoy all that Rhode Island has to offer, or just relax and enjoy your Great Island getaway!
