Heaven at the top of the mountain!

Lady Carol Buford, GA (Atlanta area)
Review Submitted: April 26, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
At the top of a challenging driveway, Grandview is more beautiful than the pictures on line. Superbly decorated, immaculately clean, and situated with a view that can keep you relaxed for hours soaking it in from one of the rocking chairs on the deck. So homey and inviting!

We held our 15th annual cousin's reunion weekend here. A dozen mostly-retired cousins had a wonderful opportunity to visit and talk. The cousins came from the Atlanta area, Ohio and Indiana. Some of us don't see each other year to year otherwise.

We had two players who enjoyed the pool table. The fire pit provided a venue for "remember when" stories and s'mores. The well supplied kitchen meant several of the great cooks in the family kept us well fed and, as is family tradition, other cousins got to clean up!

We enjoyed the Goats on the Roof attraction, Tallulah Falls, Toccoa Falls, and Travelers Rest Historic park. That made for a half day circular route of site seeing. We found several restaurants for lunch on the main street in Toccoa. Returning to Clayton via Highway 76, we could look up on the mountain over the golf course and see our Grandview home. (Clue: find the orange metal roof home and Grandview will be to the left.)

As the reunion planner this year, I'm delighted to have discovered Grandview which is within 90 minutes of my home. I hope to visit with my local extended family soon.

You will find the owner Tami to be very friendly and quite responsive to any inquiriesvia email or phone. Couldn't be better.
Owner's Response: FYI for future renters: The driveway is steep, but is paved and does not require 4-wheel drive. We have also made a back-up pad with reflectors (for night), so you may go down the drive going forward. In back of the house where the drive ends, there is room to park about 4 vehicles.

GrandView was perfect for our group of 14. It is beautifully furnished, well-equipped, and clean. The view is spectacular! Bring a ball cap or sun visor for the morning sunshine pouring into the great room!

Here it is February 1st and we are still basking in the afterglow of our Thanksgiving Family Holiday at the Grandview Home in Clayton. The stars may never be aligned again to allow us another holiday as memorable as this one was since our family is rapidly moving into adulthood and by next year will be splintering off in the their own individual directions. Nevertheless, your home was everything it was advertised to be. The kitchen was well equipped and easily handled our Thanksgiving dinner for 11 people. The view was spectacular the sleeping arrangements were perfect. We spent almost every evening sitting around the fire pit which was an added plus. The house is close to grocery shopping, dining out and a short drive to the Highlands/Cashiers for additional dining, shopping and entertainment. Also easily accessible is Tallulah Falls with hiking trails accommodating any level hiker. We may never be back as a family, but I’m sure to book it again soon and be sure to bring my friends with me.

A wonderful getaway

Last summer, my husband and I took our children and grandchildren to North Georgia and had a fabulous time in the mountains. The home exceeded all expectations. It was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, with every appliance, utensil, pot, pan, dish, everything we could ever ask for and more. The owners followed up to make sure all was as expected.

There is something for everyone within a short distance--gem mining, mountain hikes, outlet mall, a charming downtown area.

The views from the deck are spectacular. We will be back again this year.

I was responsible for planning a rafting trip on the Chattooga River over Labor Day weekend and needed a place for 14 adults to stay. Looking at the interior pictures, I was very impressed with the GrandView. The only concerns I had were that there would be houses in the immediate vicinity (when we go to the mountains, we don’t like other houses/cabins within sight). When we got there, I could not have asked for a better place!!! There were no houses within sight and the GrandView was able to comfortably accommodate all 14 of us! The view from the deck was absolutely beautiful! And the interior of the house was everything that the pictures promised!!! There were refrigerators on both levels and nice air conditioner units in each room on the lower levels. Also, the game room on the lower level was a great place to hang out and provided a nice separation from the upstairs environment.

I’ve got to say, I consider myself lucky to have found such a nice place. All of my friends were impressed with the house and had good things to say about it. Also worth mentioning, the homeowners (Tami and her husband) were very helpful and great to work with! You will not regret staying at the GrandView!!!

Our group of three families spent four relaxing nights and five fun days admiring the fantastic long-distance views of the mountains. This home is nicely furnished without being 'stuffy', the kitchen had everything we needed, the extra refrigerator was a big plus when feeding a group of 13, and we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the home. There is also plenty to do nearby, but GrandView is comfy enough that you may not want to leave! We look forward to going back for another visit.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this lovely mountain get-away!! We have stayed at a couple of different mountain areas and this house is by far our favorite!! The home was warm, inviting, comfy and beautiful! We also loved the thoughtfulness of the things in the house. The wonderful kitchen gadgets, the books, games, the pool table etc! The view was breathtaking, the firepit was so fun and enjoyable! We had 3 couples with 6 kids ranging from 6 t0 10. We had more than enough room to spare, the kids all had plenty of things to do to keep them entertained!(3 whole days without playstation which we brought and didn't use!!) We will definately come again and would recommend it to anyone!

Amazing Girls GA Getaway!

Morgan Paige Valdosta, GA
Review Submitted: November 17, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I am one of twelve ladies who stayed in this gorgeous home for a Girls Getaway in October to see the fall foliage. We can't say enough about how beautiful and comfortable this home is, and you would have to see the view to believe it! The house seems secluded, but is actually close to downtown Clayton, which we just loved. Clayton was a great home base for our day trips to Highlands, Helen, Asheville, and Hiawasee. We just didn't have enough time to see all we wanted this time, so we're planning a repeat visit as soon as we can schedule another time away. There were many great restaurants, shops, galleries, antiques, and wineries in the area to enjoy. By the way, the country club in our view of the valley has great spa treatments that many of us took advantage of. Tami, thank you for all your help in making our plans.
