Great vacation spot!

Beautiful scenery! We enjoyed our stay here for eight nights. We were the only ones on the beach which was very relaxing. The house was clean, and the renter very accommodating. Cape Canaveral is not very far so we went to see the shuttle launch in July. Definitely, a great vacation spot!

We rented this property for our Summer 2009 family reunion. The location was perfect for our gathering. The home was close to the beach where we were able to frolic and exercise daily. The yard was lush and tropical, and allowed us easy access to grilling and preparing our summer feasts. I highly recommend this property to friends. The owner provided us with great information about the area's attractions. Our favorite, was the botanical gardens located nearby at Washington Oaks State Park....great spot for family photos!!

amazing place for relaxing Florida beach vacation

I have stayed here a couple times and had a wonderful time. The home itself is large and gorgeous -- everything is new and very clean. The renter was very accommodating. The kitchen is large and we were able to make a few great meals there. There's a nice grocery store right by the entrance to the neighborhood -- which, by the way, is very safe, upscale, and beautiful.
Just a few yards away is a golf course right on the beach, with a path to the beach. We were the only ones on the beach, and the water was clear and warm!
I spent several afternoons reading on the beach, and strolling for sea shells. We also checked out Washington Oaks state park which is a couple miles north on A1A -- what an awesome beach up there, and gorgeous trails next to the Waterway (the Intracoastal waterway is just to the east, so Hammock Beach is actually a coastal island).
We mostly hung out and relaxed at the house and the beach, but spent a day up in St. Augustine which was awesome. It's the oldest town in the US. We walked around St. George Street which you have to check out, toured the Spanish fort, and ate some awesome seafood -- Harry's for lunch, and A1A Aleworks for dinner. Both have views of the water.
Another place you have to check out is a little seafood shack south, near Flagler Beach, right on the ocean!! I can't remember the name, but ask the owner of the house!!
One of the coolest drives I have ever taken in my life is along A1A in this area so be sure to check it out! The 2 lane road is right along the dunes about 10 feet from the beach. Definitely rent a car so you can check out the sites.

Fantastic Vacation Spot

This is a great vacation spot. The owner provided bicycles for us to use. The Hammock Beach area has wonderful biking paths. Publix is less than a mile away, so food preparation was easy and affordable. The house was very comfortable and no need to worry about allergies or gound in dirt, because the home was travertine tile throughout. We brought our laptops and enjoyed watching movies as well as viewing photos of our day's activities on the 52" TV. The home was just a few steps from the beach, so we enjoyed daily walks, and the children had a great time in the water.

I highly recommend this property!!

Very disappointed...

I feel very mislead after our arrival the house, don’t get me wrong the house is beautiful but it also doesn’t feel finished. Upon reading one of the other reviews we brought our own bath towels, what was provided (2 per room) for a week was not enough for us. I was very disappointed upon arrival when we waited an hour and 45 min past 3pm for the house to be finished being clean. After all that wait I would not have expected the house to be as dirty as it was, there was still hair and soap scum in the showers, and there was dirt on the floors. We arrived during a bad rain storm and 5 of the windows were leaking pretty bad. The ad says linens provided but be warned that means sheets ONLY, we had to ask the lady cleaning if there were any blankets and she did give us some out of a locked room stating that most people did not use blankets in the summertime!?!? There are not only no towel racks but there are also no toilet paper holders and there was hardly ANY furniture. For a house that “sleeps 10” you would think they would have enough seating to at least let everyone have a decent place to sit. There is one sofa a few chairs, and NO dressers anywhere in the place. So if you want to not live out of a suitcase for a week bring your own hangers and use the top racks in the closets. When checking in the main gate make sure you are not there a second before 3pm, we arrived at 2:48 and were told to go the Publix for free coffee!!!! The people who stayed before us were nice enough to leave a air mattress which our kids used for furniture all week. If you come to this house with a big group and plan on using the kitchen for meals be aware that the kitchen utensils include ONE pot and ONE pan.
Our first trip to the pool was delayed until after my husband cleaned it out, it looked like it had not been cleaned in a few days and I believe the 2nd or 3rd day we finally saw the pool guy come around and clean. Leading up to our vacation we had excellent customer service from the owner and I think that was one of the reasons we were so let down when we arrived. After we left we felt as though we spent the week camping in a really nice house with air condition……..

Dirty house

Review Submitted: May 24, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
When we arrived the gaurd house didn't have a list of anyone staying in the house. Fortunately had printed a list or we may have not been allowed on the property. When we arrived the house was very dirty. We had to clean before we could even unpack. Also the seating arrangements are minimal and very uncomfortable. Make sure you realize there is no washer and dryer and there are no towel racks or trashcans in any of the bathrooms. On the up side the area is beautiful. The house has great potential. There are not very many towel we had to go buy some. The worst part was that the house was dirty. I did not want to spend any of my vacation time cleaning.

Our family had a great time at the house. We rented it while in town for a wedding. Much better than getting a tiny hotel room. The owner was great, showed us around and the house had everything we needed. A great place if you want a nice relaxing weekend. Located in a gated community which was extremely safe. The house was beautiful with plenty of room for everyone. I wish I could have stayed longer. We will go back again.
