WOW! My boyfriend and I just returned from a week long stay in Michael's unit. We were picked up on time from the airport by Sam and he took us and another couple grocery shopping, which was very helpful. Because groceries on the island are very expensive, we only bought basic items (food for lunch, breakfast, coffee, snacks & rum, lots of it!) but ended up not eating half of what we purchased. The weather was perfect all week. Before we left, we walked down to the beach one last time and on our way back, it rained for the first time. I have been to Sapphire Beach at least 6 times in the past but it was my boyfriends first time visiting there. Needless to say, he fell in love with it is as much as I always have. He is a certified scuba diver, so the guys in the Dive Shop were very accomodating in taking him on several dives. They were also very helpful and nice in making sure we had everything we needed as far as beach lounge chairs and snorkeling equipment, even on busy days when the cruise ship people made their way on the beach. We also were very taken care of by Lindsey from the Banana Cabana (located between bldg B & C) and Keith from the Sapphire Grill restaurant up the hill (their fish and chips are a must!). Another must do is the sunset dinner cruise put on by the guys at breakaway. It was one of the highlights of our entire vacation. The food was excellent not to mention the views. We dined on caviar while sailing the caribbean.....does it get any better than that? Seriously! Most nights we ate in Red Hook, the XO restaurant and Fish Tails are great, not to mention the fun atmosphere at Duffy's Love Shack (especially when someone orders their infamous "shark tank" drink. Order at your own risk, just sayin...). As for the condo, we had everything we needed and appreciated the fresh towels daily. We really weren't in the condo much, except for sleeping of course but did enjoy drinking our coffee every morning on the patio overlooking the most beautiful view in the world. Sapphire Beach is truly a gift from God and we will be back.....very very soon! Thank you Michael.

Beautiful!!!!! Beach was like a dream! My husband and I celebrated our 14th Anniversary on this trip and could not have picked a better Beach.

Condo could use a little updating but can not complain. It was clean and has a GREAT view!! We did have travel problems with pick up and drop off at the airport (Sam did not know when we got there and when we left) So we took a taxi to and from the airport. Although, I have to say Sam was one of the nicest people we met on the island he is a GREAT person!!!!

A word of caution watch out for the Dive In Shop on the beach (chairs, snorkle, and floats are included in the condo) one day a guy working there tried to charge me for these and I had to stand firm and tell him it is included,do I need to get Sam. He quickly changed his mind!! I think it was a new guy because I had not seen him working there the past couple of days before.

A must is the New Horizons Dinner Cruise which is right next to the condo. This was the best thing we did. The sunset while on the boat was breath taking. And dinning under the stars...the food was great!!

Overall, I would DEFINETLY go back and hope to some day!!!! I fell in love with the island and it really is a must see!!!

We had fabulous time on the island. The beach o the beach is just great. Our condo had everything we needed. We had our meals at the deck which was very convenient for us. Michael ( the owner of the condo) helped us to get the answeas for all of our questions.

Cannot wait to come back!!!

Excellent Vacation!

We just returned from our week long stay at Sapphire Beach Resort. We had an excellent vacation! Sapphire Beach is one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island!

The condo was older and in need of some renovations, nothing major. It was clean and comfortable with a multi million dollar view! This condo unit itself is not a 5 star property but the location is! The price we paid was more than fair! Some guests were very disappointed, obviously they thought they were coming to a luxurious property and they paid way more than we did. If you want 5 star then go the The Ritz. If you want decent accomodations on one of the best beaches in the world then come here! People came from the luxury hotels to spend the day at Sapphire Beach. The owner was very easy to deal with and the property managers (Sam and Mona) were the best! They picked us up from the airport and took us to a local grocery store on the way to the condo. They were there to help with whatever! We truly relaxed on this vacation just chilling on the beach! There was no restaurant on site or a store. There was the Bananna Cabanna! It was great for rum punch and mahi sandwiches for lunch on the beach. My son was hooked on the giant hot dogs and mango smoothies. There was a nice pool on the property but we only used it once. Who wants to go in a pool when you have the pristine waters of the carribbean right there.

Local restaurants in Red Hook were disappointing. The food was really good and not overly priced, but the service was terrible. Often times adding gratuity to checks and not telling you. Ride the dollar bus at the top of the hill if you go into Charlotte Amolie. A taxi will cost you $15 pp. The bus will cost $2 pp and it was fun. I would reccommend going to Mountaintop. The view was amazing and the shopping was good. Look for Gladys' Cafe in Charlotte Amolie for lunch. It was the best Carribbean food I have ever had. We took the ferry to St. John. It was beautiful! We went to Cinnamon Bay. The reef was clearly in distress but the beach was amazing. Shopping was great in Cruz Bay, very laid back with lots of local art and handmade gifts, not so touristy like Charlotte Amolie.
We came home with amazing photos and memories that will last a lifetime! My husband, my eight year old son and I had the time of our lives in St. Thomas! We will definately be back next summer!

Oh yeah, I would not reccommend flying Spirit Airlines. Lots of hidden costs and long layovers, even flying from FL.

Beach vacation

We just returned from our week long vacation at this property. We truly enjoyed the trip. Though the studio was older, it had many amenities that allowed us to stay at the resort on the nights that we just wanted to relax by the ocean. The views were amazing from this property. We were able to wake up to the sound of the beach every morning. The deck space was great for morning breakfast (we had a full kitchen). We understand that most condos are being renovated, which they need. The units are very dated with older bathrooms and decor. This resort is good for anyone that wants quiet and relaxation. There were a few days with live entertainment on site. Having a small store and restaurant on property was a bonus. Also lots of snorkeling, kayaking, and floats available on this beach. Much coral and reefs here. I would reccomend this resort, but rent a car to explore the island because there is so much to see. The property manager was great. He gave us some ideas on local places to eat and explore. He picked us up and dropped us at the airport, helped get a rental car, and fixed minor issues in the condo. Housekeeping was done regularly and fresh towels provided daily , along with garbage pick up. The condo was clean. The bed was a bit stiff, but there is a comfy couch too. For 2 people this is a comfortable amount of space. The ferry dock to St John in Red Hook was only a mile away (but a bit too far to walk). Rent a taxi. Safari trucks only go one way- so you could take one there but not back unless you want a long ride. Grocery stores are very expensive- it is cheaper to go out to eat. Bring your sunscreen! It is so easy to get burned. Also ask about local beaches- they are free to the public on other resorts.

We stayed in Sapphire Beach Resort in Building C and had a fabulous time! The condo itself was very clean, the pools were clean and warm, the beach was Spectacular! Bring your own snorkel equipment...if you rent directly from an owner rather than from the resort you'll have to pay a small charge for beach chair rental, snorkel gear, etc. Leave your laptops at home, wifi has a charge as well. Overall, I would rate the resort an A- .We would definately return and are already planning our next trip!
