Our daughter and her partner live in Lewiston Maine. We came from Indiana for a visit and wanted a private beach house rental away from the commerical district. This home could not have been more perfect. Located in a tall pine tree grove but only a very short walk thru the woods and shrimmering sea grass to one of the biggest sandy beaches in Maine. The beach is SO BIG!......we were lucky enough to see a baby seal that had just been born resting on the beach while the mother was feeding, it washed back out with the tide to it's mother. This place is so rustic feeling but has everthing you could think of from board games to a professional size pool table. With 3 floors there is plently of individual privacy inside if desired or the open floor plan on main floor is perfect for dinner parties. We purchased all our groceries in Bath ME at the Shaws grocery but found out anything you may have forgot was 4 minutes away at Percy;s Country Store. If you want to skip cooking a night or two, SPINNY;s is next to Percy's. We purchased our lobsters at Percy's and cooked um at HAZEL-RAH! My husband and daughter played their guitar's while Sherry painted a canvas of HAZEL-RAH and the BEACH FRONT. Besides all the hiking and sight seeing close by... kites and softball were another pass time. SHADE the dog loved sleeping on the back porch after running on the beach. We will be back! Everyone loved HAZEL-RAH!

Our family has been returning to Hazel-Rah for several years now. We've vacationed for four generations in this area of Maine, so we know what to expect. The beach is great, the cottage is wonderful. You never know what the tide is going to bring. Some days you can catch stripers and blues right off the beach, other days are great for body surfing. This spot is great for all the things that are important to us - beach combing, local seafood, serenity and relaxation.

Excellent house in a beautiful location. We have been vacationing at Popham for 23 years, and this will be our fourth year at Hazel-rah. This house has plenty of room, and also a "bonus" game room with a full size pooltable. Very clean and well maintained. Perfect house for a family vacation-our daughters, now 21 and 23, would never miss our week at Popham!

Hazel-rah Popham Beach Maine

Beautiful private beach. Fantastic well equipped multi-level "cottage". Living room, family room, billiard room. Wake to a view of the ocean from the master and guest bedrooms. Heat for chilly nights.. A perfect place to unwind on the wrap-around porch or to use as a base to explore Bath, Fort Popham and other Maine attractions. Enjoy the lobser stew at Spinney's Restaurant. Discover seals in the harbor. Canoe rentals a short drive away. Hazel-rah was a treasure to find on a beach with very few rentals.

This is a wonderful rental in my favorite spot on the planet.Beautiful home, lots of space.I would recommend this to my friends ( and have done so).
Loved the pool table, great for teens and parents.
Would suggest a newer vacuum as sand is always a factor at the beach and it's a good way to preserve the beautiful wood floors on the 1st floor!
Excellent customer service from the owner & family.

Hazel-Rah Popham Beach

Review Submitted: May 20, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
My family and I have been spending one week a summer at Hazel-Rah for eight years now-the kids love our week at the beach-Popham Beach, in my estimate, is the prettiest beach in the Northeast-the house is large and comfortable and does not lack any comforts of home- the loaction is vey secluded and when you get to the ocean, it seems like it is your own private beach. We wouldn't trade our week at the "beachhouse" for anything.........
