Want to go back

"Girls Getaway" We (3 people) rented this home late in the season, Oct 10 - Oct 17. It was everything it was advertised to be. We enjoyed the openness of the first floor where we could do our own things and yet enjoy each others company. It was a great place to launch out for day trips in all the different directions to see other parts of the Cape. We had one individual with us that needed special considerations because of medical needs. Jac was excellent to work with us and she had a very enjoyable time. One of the gals recently said, "When do you think we can go back?" We highly recommend this place. Didn't get to use the crows nest because of the cool weather and wind, but must be lovely in warmer weather. Very clean and well kept. It felt like home the first day. The first night fall asleep listening to the waves. Yes, when can we go back?

Cape heaven

I'm fortunate to have vacationed at this house many times over the years. The first thing I do is climb to the widow's nest deck atop the roof and gaze upon Cape Cod Bay, one block away. The house is comfy, clean and has a bath you'll never use -- instead you'll shower in an open-air, outdoor stall. It's a great way to start the day, in classic Cape style. Head to Sesuit Harbor for a lobster roll (ask them to hold the mayo) and to Captain Frosty's for ice cream. The location is great -- an easy drive to stunning ocean beaches and Provincetown. There's a Cape Cod League baseball team in the next town. The owner is always available to help. Can't wait to stay there again.

Going Back Again and Again

We've stayed at this cozy delight every year since 1998. I always look forward to being right across the street from Corporation Beach and closeness to the Cape Cod Playhouse, movie theatres, Dennis Village, casual or fine dining, and all the comforts of my own home. The house is well suited for my family and several close friends. The open living room, dining room, kitchen and deck areas are great for adults and kids to get together, while the beach bums have it made with the ocean's water less than a block away. Lobster roasts and large get to gether's have become a tradition. You'll enjoy using the outdoor shower to rinse after going to the beach or just for your regular shower. In twelve seasons I've never showered inside the house. It's very private and is fun in all types of weather. The owner loves the property and personally oversees or does anything needed to keep it perfect. They've listed all the helpful and emergency contacts. Local professional tradesmen do all property maintenance. We're going back in June 2009 and can't wait. Everyone will always remember the local one of a kind places. Captain Frosty's (like a Cape Cod style DQ), Grumpy's for breakfast and Sesuit Harbor Cafe for lobster rolls. And check out the Brewster General Store for a look at the past, the herring run and grist mill, Scargo Tower and other historic locations. By the way, there is one of the few widow's walk (the observation deck on the roof) in the area from which you have an unbelievable view of the ocean and the neighborhood. I wish I owned the house.

We have rented this property for 8 years, and can't wait to get back there for Aug '09. It has been the perfect location for our family -kids and grandkids-who like to walk to the beach (.2 mile) several times a day, including after dinner to watch the sun set. The house is appointed simply, but adequately and is easy to take care of. The first floor is open, a nice gathering place for cooking, dining, and games. It features a deck and large yard, which really expands the living/dining space. It has an outdoor shower, conveniently located washer/dryer, and clothes line. The owner had been very accommodating.

We have rented this house for 8 years. Due to a schedule snafu, we had to skip last year, but are already counting the days til our Aug 09 vacation. Our kids and grandkids love the open kitchen/dining/living space, and the large yard. I love being so close to the beach that I can walk there 10 times/day ! We have even had picnic dinners on the beach, and go every evening to watch the sun set. The house is simply appointed -not fancy. But it's a great family gathering place:we cook together, play games, spend time together, and -did I mention- go to the beach. It is a very desireable location, and walking distance to Dennis Village. The owner has been very accommodating.

Inappropriate Charge from Security Deposit

nothappy renter Hastings Westchester County, NY
Review Submitted: October 28, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
There was a major issue with this property rental regarding trash removal. While all trash was left outside at the appropriate times for scheduled pickups, there were, of course, some left on Saturday (in the proper storage space) the day of departure. Because of this, the owner charged and kept $50. of the security deposit. This was not a backpacking experience to a national park where you are expected to take your trash with you! The house was left in spotless condition and nowhere in the contract is there a provision for this $50. charge. The owner kept an inapproproate amount of money which did not purport with the terms of the lease agreement.
Other issues included:
1) A tiny fourth bedroom - If the the trundle bed was opened, one could hardly walk into the room
2) Initially there was no shade on the window in that room or on the window of the upper hall where the sun poured in and it was very hot. After a few days, shades were installed.
3) Caution was necessary when mounting the steep steps leading to the roof deck. The wooden side railings and steps were rough leading two of the occupants to develop splinters.

The location of the prperty was very near the beach and across from a large field.
Owner's Response: We had a GREAT summer of vacation renters and really appreciate every last one of them including these people. They did leave the house very clean as our lease stipulates but it also addresses excessive trash (3 barrels grossly overflowing). Trash pickup is on Fridays and departure is on Saturday, so if you have a big party Friday night yes you'll have to pack some of that trash to go or just stop at the local dump on the way out( direction are provided ). We have had college students, wedding parties, and even High School Seniors rent the house and easily grasp this simple concept.
We look forward to many years of providing a wonderful vacation home across the street ( 50 yards) from Corporation Beach.
