Photos and Description of the York vacation house rental
4 Bedrooms, 2 Full baths, sleeps 6

This contemporary camp/cottage was an Architectural Record House of 1968! Its three pavilions, grouped around a protected courtyard, are designed to take maximum advantage of this dramatic site perched on a hill overlooking the confluence of the York River and harbor channel. The two-acre site affords total privacy with a large flat back yard and lawns sloping to the water. A spacious deck provides outdoor dining, and the house is fully equipped with TV/VCR/DVD and WiFi Internet.

It is a unique house in a spectacular setting, and is very special to its owners who continue to cherish it after 50 years.

If you go to Maine in June, you have to be ready for any kind of weather. To prove the point, we drove up on June 25, 2011 in a steady rain and needed the fireplace to take the chill out of the house. By Sunday afternoon and for the remainder of the week it was July-August weather in the 80's. You won't find a more unique house than this in York with three distinct wings to spend your time. With no tv in the main sitting area, we found we preferred sitting and looking out at the harbor, watching the world go by. The views from the two lofts are fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed The Stolen Menu Cafe in nearby York Village. You'll have every kitchen utensil at your disposal (everything in its place!). Don't tarry going from the house to the car or the mosquitos will make a meal out of you. It was a wonderful week and we would go again.

The property was really lovely and we really enjoyed the exceptional view. It would have been fun to have stayed there for a longer stay to explore the bookshelves. The place was clean, well-stocked with kitchen utensils, glasses, dishwasher and laundry facilities, etc. I appreciate the artwork inside the house and the overall design of the house. My only comment that is not even very critical and dependent on the weather....is that the rooms on the upstairs level were not habitable in the day time. However, I found that once the temperature dropped in the evening the temperature was great. My family said that we look forward to renting the property again, perhaps in two years time. Thank you to the owners for sharing their home with renters.
