Relaxed and ready to return.....

Southern Bells Atlanta, GA
Review Submitted: March 23, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
This property is better than described. Very comfortable and spacious feeling. The home is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The home is also VERY clean. It is situated on top of a hill on a secluded cul-de-sac with no traffic. Very convenient to P'town, Wellfleet, the National Seashore and other sightseeing, restaurants, shopping and beaches. If you are looking for a quiet place to rent that is convenient to everything this is the place you want to rent. The owner is very easy to work with and communicates very well answering all emails.
Owner's Response: I am very thankful for the wonderful reviews from last year's tenants so far.As this person has stated,I do make every effort to get you more information,be it a newsletter I just sent out to this year's tenants with web sites for local businesses so you can plan activities ahead of time,or sending out many extra photos of the property for your perusal if you request them.I strongly encourage you to read the "notes" and"further details" under the "amenities section which contains alot of information.
Please be aware that there are no window treatments as there is no need for them so lots of light and airy breezes in the house. The house is geared for quiet folks but do know it is a perfect place to have friends drop by to join you for an afternoon or evening get together. There are lots of stemware in the cupboards, the porch has had over 50 people one afternoon for a cocktail party which I held one September day,and parking for many cars in the driveway and on the private road.I am not encouraging wild ruckus parties, but sophisticated quiet enjoyment of a house that breathes "welcome" to friends and family guests. There is a natural flow from the porch through glass sliders into the dining/kitchen area so easy to entertain.
I personally clean my house after every departure so it is really clean when you arrive.I have heard some not so good reviews on other properties so I am the hands on kid.I leave alot of cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, etc to help you with the mid week upkeep and if you want to pay for a housekeeper for your stay,I can email a list for you.

I disagree with the reviewer's suggestion of families with small children,as the guest rooms are upstairs away from the parents bedroom. The steps going upstairs are solid wood so no carpet if a child falls. The house really acclimates itself better to adults needing to get away, maybe with older children. Also you do need a car as the bus stop is a mile away.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway at this fabulous home!

Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
I always read reviews before I book, so after reviewing these reviews & seeing the picures we booked this home and are so happy we did! We were looking for a peaceful, relaxing weekend away to celebrate our 10 yr wedding anniversary & this ended up being all that we wanted it to be & more. The home is warm and inviting, extremely clean, well decorated and has a wonderful floor plan. It is in a very quiet area- I think maybe 1 or 2 cars passed the house the entire weekend! Yet you are only 2 or 3 minutes at the most to Corn Hill & Great Hollow beaches which were very nice, clean beaches. Trust me when I say you won't want to get out of bed in the morning- the King size bed is sooo comfortable & the bedding is very soft -nice higher thread count sheets and comforters & pillows fluffy! The wrap around porch is so relaxing to just sit and enjoy your coffee in the morning or wine in the evening! We would turn on the awesome stero/surround sound in the evening -pop in a nice cd and go hang on the porch and listen to the music & chill watching the sunset. The sunsets can be seen best though from the "Sunset Bedroom"- excellent view and what vivid pinks & oranges in the night sky! There is a wonderful farmers market with excellent organic produce & a fresh fish market just right around the corner- we enjoyed fresh salmon & salads with local ingredients a couple of nights. The house is only 8 miles from Provincetown too which is convenient. The owner is wonderful at offering suggestions for dining, etc- she even called and made reservations for us one night at The Mews and it was wonderful! She was also helpful in getting our beach pass as you need one to get onto the private beaches in the area- it is supposed to be $30 for a week pass but we were only charge $20. Longnook Beach was our favorite- beautiful white soft sand, cool sand dunes & beautiful water-waves were cool-alot of surfers were ridin' the waves! All in all this is up there with one of our favorite vacations. Truro is a wonderful little town-very quaint, the people are friendly, beautiful beaches, great for biking & hiking or doing absolutely nothing but just sitting back & relaxing. We will definately be renting this property again. We want to give a special thanks to the owner Melanie for sharing her beautiful home, keeping it extremely clean & being so friendly and helpful. If you are looking at this rental- you will NOT be disappointed- what you see is exactly what you get- picture perfect!

Wow, was this a wonderful last minute escape for us! We visited during Labor Day weekend with our 2 kids (6 and 3) and a grandparent. The house is nestled among trees with a view of the bay and unsurpassed privacy. Inside, it is immediately inviting with a sunny, airy interior, wonderfully appointed furnishings including Cape-inspired modern artwork. No lace doilies or dusty fake floral arrangements here. The owner not only has a tasteful eye but she is welcoming, friendly, and she exudes an owner's pride throughout the house. Perfectly located near the beach and 6 so you can get anywhere easily from here...or not, and be in the most peaceful, tranquil of surroundings. It's exactly as pictured, if not better.

Wonderful holiday at Cape Cod

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in this beautiful house. It is spacious, light and airy and very comfortable. The beds were made up and it was spotlessly clean.. The windows are all screened and there were cool breezes through the house so sleeping was very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and we used the large gas BBQ a lot. The owner is friendly and very helpful. I was visiting with my husband and 3 kids aged 20, 18 and 16 - the magnificent TV and Hifi was much appreciated. We made a decision not to take a laptop (despite having WiFi in house) - there is an internet cafe in P'town but it was always busy and the 2 computers were very slow so we wished we had taken our own. The beaches are beautiful - we preferred the atlantic beaches (max 5 minutes drive) but the bayside are slightly closer and more sheltered. It was great to have beach chairs and towels provided. Local shops and restaurants are all useful and high quality. The Sunday changeover day was good as it meant the long traffic delays going in and out on Saturdays were avoided and traffic is not a problem on other days. The access to P'town is easy and takes 10-15 minutes. Altogether a good and memorable choice - I will be wishing myself back on that peaceful porch again very soon!

Peace and quiet

We rented this home for one week with our 9 and 12 year old kids in July. Sunny days were spent on one of the incredible beaches nearby, or walking and cycling at Provincetown (only 8 Km away). Rainy days were spent reading, using fully equipped home movie (flat screen) and wi fi access with our computer, going to local attractions and eating good seafood.

The house is great, nothing is missing, and it is nicely decorated, to encourage relaxing and feeling like we're home. Luxury for a week in an enchanted site, with birds, flowers, and everyting we needed. Very nice week at Truro.

We stayed here 6/22-6/29/09. The weather was not the best, but we had a great time anyway. The house is very clean, contemporary, and well appointed. Beautiful front porch for reading and sipping coffee in the morning. Lovely sunroom off the kitchen. Large plasma TV and surround sound were enjoyed by our teenagers. Great Hollow bay beach in walking distance. 10 min drive to ocean beaches - Ballston was our favorite. There is a seafood shop and farm stand 2 minutes from the house - they steam the lobsters for you and you can purchase salad makings from the farm stand. Fabulous biking from the house out Shore Rd to Provincetown and on to Race Point. I will definitely rent this property again.

Great in any weather

The lovely, open design of this house makes it very comfortable. We felt at home immediately. The decor complements the design and enhances the relaxed feeling. My favorite part was the large inviting porch which stayed dry during rainstorms and was bug free. We visited during an uncharacteristically wet and cold week, but still enjoyed our vacation. The top notch home theater got more use due to the weather. The owner genuinely cares about her renters and offers great suggestions of restaurants and activities when asked. The quiet streets led to beautiful bay and ocean beaches which we enjoyed on our bicycles. Truro's rolling terrain is ideal for bike riding.

We LOVED this house last summer

Cape Cod summer dude Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada
Review Submitted: March 15, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
My wife and I stayed here for three fabulous weeks for the first time last summer. Took us 30 seconds car ride to be at Great Hollow beach, where we spent most days.Late afternoons we would sit on the covered porch enjoying our martinis or using the rather large gas grill to make dinner. Kitchen is very well stocked for cooking inside or out.The house is free of clutter and we loved the hardwood floors everywhere. The owner left very nice artwork on the walls....all in all, a beautiful house.Exceptionally clean and loved the layout. Guest room upstairs so lots of privacy when our two friends joined us for a few days.

In between Wellfleet and Provincetown,so lots of close options for nightlife.Highly recommend the nearby fish market-we had lobsters steamed at the market several times, and used the grill for swordfish and tuna steaks.Being from Nova Scotia,we KNOW our seafood !Wonderful produce market within a minute drive. We loved for restaurents Black Fish in Truro,Jimmy's Hideaway in Ptown, and Winslow Tavern in Wellfleet. A real fun adventure was Art's Dune tours as well as whalewatching in Ptown. We are making plans to stay in this house every summer from now on,having rented many other places in Truro over the years. This home has won our hearts and our vacation dollars. Very peaceful gardens, tho I had to water the beds...no big deal. My wife loved the daylilies that can be seen from the porch.

No traffic on the road as it is on a cul de sac and only 4 other houses well spaced from this location. Very very private place.
Owner's Response: I did smile at this review as alot of the tenants are city folk,so phone calls last summer as to how to operate the hose and sprayer.I really want you to have your privacy during your stay,so notes will be left this year on how to do this task. The perennial gardens are years in the making and I hope you enjoy them.
The fish market steams lobsters for free so no need for a lobster pot and mess. You call in your order that morning and pick up later in the day.I will leave menus and flyers for your review and recommendations from my experiences.
Last year was year one of renting out the house and mainly one couple would rent, one for a month, one for three weeks, one for two weeks. All would have friends or family join them for a few days,so having the main bedroom on the first floor and the guest rooms upstairs allowed the privacy this reviewer tells.
I love my house and can tell you the best feature in the summer is the large wrap around porch. It has a roof so if it rains, you still can sit out there and shade abounds at different areas depending where the sun moves. There is seating for at least ten people and a wonderful(expensive) gas grill that was bought in what I call "a menopausal"moment. The same for the television in the living room, all components are wired into a closet in the kitchen and there is a universal remote to control the surround sound,Blue Ray DVD player,TV....do not lose my remote !!!!
I agree with this reviewer's take on eating out but there are new places opening this year so will gather info and leave here to save you time.Look forward to hearing from you potential 2009 tenants. Not much left so please take a looksee. Remember June and September are the hidden jewels of the Cape and less costly all around.

Everytime I drove up the driveway to the "house on the hill," I thought, "thank God." I love sitting on the wrap-around porch for morning coffee, watching the birds dip and dive among the treetops, then heading out to the beach just a 2-minute drive away. Back in time to walk around the gardens at the end of the day, catching the breezes, glass of wine in hand. Then upstairs to the 2nd floor to watch the sun go down from the room I dubbed, "the Sunset Room." And internet connection throughout the house, important for me (need to get away, but like to stay in touch). Definitely coming back, so don't take my week.
