Little Black Lake Getaway

Owner's provided accurate description of property. Home was clean, well maintained and pet friendly. All amenities were provided and then some including rowboats, kyaks, canoes, fire pit, bicycles, helmets and even a walking stick for trails and binoculars for birdwatching. The house was cozy, bathrooms clean and kitchen was very well equiped. The owners were very informative about the area and readily available for the few questions we had. The location was very private and quiet and the light on Little Black Lake was magical at sunrise and sunset. There were numerous hiking trails and the walk to the beach through Hoffmaster State Park was pretty short. This getaway provides a very good combination of comfort and outdoor activities. There is nice shopping and gelato in Grand Haven just to the south and the farmers market in Muskegon, just to the north is very large. All in all it was very relaxing and fun.

We are also very lucky to have Hoffmaster State Park in our back yard and even though we have lived in West Michigan all of our lives we are still in awe of Lake Michigan and the beautiful dunes. All of our guests should plan to spend a day walking on of the singing sand beaches in our area and watching sunset over the Big Lake.

Wonderful Vacation Home!

We had a great time on our vacation. The home was clean and had all the amenities we could hope for. The kids loved fishing and kayaking in the lake. There were games and a ping pong table that the kids enjoyed playing with. We loved that we could bring our dog and there was plenty of room for her to run. We would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a fun getaway in a clean, relaxing environment.

We strive to make our renters vacations the best they can be. We work hard to keep our home clean, safe and try hard to supply everything that we would want in a vacation rental. We also love dogs! We had a fantastic week at the Hoffmaster house. We live out of state but are originally from Michigan. This was the perfect place to have our friends and family come and visit us for some fun and relaxation. It was the perfect size for our family of five, with room to spare. We enjoyed the firepit, the boats and hiking through Hoffmaster.

West Michigan has so much to see and do. At our Hoffmaster House, Little Black Lake in front of the house and Lake Michigan in back. (It is a 20 minute hike through Hoffmaster to get to the beach but it is worth the walk.) We supply 3 kayaks, a canoe and a row boat for exploring and fishing on Little Black Lake. We're truly blessed to live in such a gorgeous area.

We loved our stay at the Hoffmaster House! The kids had so much fun with the canoes, kayacks, and fishing equipment. We loved the birds, especially watching the swan family out on Little Black Lake. The house had everything we needed and more. It was clean and the beds and linens were very nice. The house is convenient to Grand Haven and Muskegon yet it felt like you were far away from all the crowds. We spent many days exploring P.J. Hoffmaster state park and highly recommend hiking through it from the house. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back!

We had a wedding in Muskegon and stayed in this lovely home. It was a great place to get ready, spend time with family and then kick back and relax. We spent time walking the trails in Hoffmaster park and kayaking. Little Black Lake is beautiful. It was like we had our own private lake provided great photo ops for the wedding party. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and well maintained. We'll be back again...we also loved the fact that we could bring our dog.

This is a great getaway, with all the amenities of home, ideally located. It's a quiet area, with Little Black Lake about 100 feet from the front door. Fishing, kayaking and canoeing are ideal, because no power boats at all are allowed in the lake. If you want to see one of the best beaches in the USA, go out the back door to Hoffmaster Park, probably the best state park in Michigan. As secluded as the house is, you are only about 1/2 mile from a very good public golf course, as well as quality restaurants. The owners are extremely people who care more about their guests than their profit margin. With the kayaks, canoes and fishing rods provided you don't need to bring or rent anything (except golf clubs, and I'm willing to bet that could be arranged for 1 or 2 players). Then there's the sunset over Little Black Lake (incredible), followed by sitting around the firepit right next to the lake (wood provided). If you're looking for a choice of relaxation or physical activity (or a combination), this is a place for you!! Now, if you could get the owners to include their incredible Chihuahua, that would guarantee everything you'd need for a perfect vacation.

We had a marvelous time staying at Hoffmaster House on Little Black Lake! The house is sweet and very clean with a country-charm. The location couldn't be more perfect on the private lake, which we used for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking; and Lake Michigan with state park is only minutes away. The owners have done a beautiful job thinking of every detail to make the experience memorable. They offered suggestions of places to visit in the area, and responded immediately when we needed. It was especially nice to find such a great place where our dogs were welcome. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat!

The quiet quaintness of our area is very special. Little Black Lake is not a private lake, it is public but scerene.
