Home Away from Home

Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The house was wonderful, spacious and it had a nice homey feel. I felt very comfortable there as the place was clean and they thought of EVERYTHING in the way of what a visitor would need while on their vacation. Being able to bring my dogs was a HUGE plus and I loved having the backyard which backs into a forest to take the dogs hiking every morning. Its tucked away enough to feel like you are in a secluded area but really just down the road from city attractions. Two big thumbs up!

Lovely house in a beautiful area.

My husband and I, our two pre-teen kids, our small dog and my mother vacationed at this house in February, 2009. We normally vacation in South Lake Tahoe about once or twice a year at rental properties, so we have a lot of experience with which to compare and contrast the merits of a house.
We arrived after recent snows to a plowed driveway, which is not always a given. It was nice to enter the house directly from the garage, so as not to have to trudge through the snow.
The interior was lovely, with gorgeous views. The neighborhood is quiet. There was nothing in the house that we wanted for. I am in the habit of bringing along numerous items that I have found lacking in other homes, both in terms of availability and quality, but ended up not needing any of them. The quality of everything provided, especially in the kitchen, was far above what we've become accustomed to in comparable homes.
We did encounter a problem that would have been unforeseeable, but we were amazed at the response of the owner. She acted immediately to take care of the problem to insure we were satisfied. In addition, I found the owner to be extremely responsive, despite my numerous inquiries, and unfailingly polite and thorough. She followed through on everything she said she would do, when she said she would do it, and we received back our deposit far faster than we have through corporate property managers in the past.
Another benefit of renting directly through the owner is that you don't have to detour, both upon arrival and departure, to the property management office to obtain the key. You can go directly to your destination. In addition, she is able to give you better information, since she is intimately familiar with the property, as opposed to property managers who may only have their information on paper.
The property was clean and well maintained. Not only would I recommend it to a friend, but will most likely return to stay again with my family.
Owner's Response: Happy news... we now have a brand new furnace to keep all our guests warm and toasty! :)

A great vacation home in Lake Tahoe!

We had such a memorable time here. The house is delightful and immaculate and had everything we needed, including extra dog bowls in case we forgot them! We had two couples in our group and the house was set up so that each couple had a private area, so we never felt like we were on top of each other. The owners were wonderful and very organized with all their information. They gave us lots of advice on what to do in Tahoe. The location was perfect for us. Out the back door was a nice wooded trail for our dogs and we found a swimming hole for them to swim in. We went on many wonderful hiking trails in the area. We liked staying in a neighborhood rather than in the busy center of Tahoe. We felt that everything we wanted to do was an easy drive from where we stayed. Heavenly ski area was not far and Lake Tahoe was gorgeous and had places for our dogs to swim. We even rented a boat and took the dogs with us out on the water. We cooked most of our meals in the house because it was so perfectly set up and we loved eating out on the porch overlooking the trees, but we did have a wonderful anniversary dinner at a restaurant right by the lake that was delicious. I would recommend this vacation home to all and we definitely plan on returning.
Owner's Response: It was our pleasure to make our home your perfect getaway! Please visit again soon!

We have stayed at the cabin a number of times now...it is in a beautiful location. The cabin is in great condition, very clean! Restaurants & stores are only about 10 min. away.

I have recommended the cabin to a number of friends and everyone that has stayed there has told me how much they enjoyed the place! The owner is very friendly and helpful!

As you can tell...we really enjoy staying there!

A beautiful place to stay

My husband Michael and I love this home. It is in a beautiful location with a preserve in back so there are no homes behind the cabin. It is very nicely furnished and very well maintained. It has all the amenities you may need. A nice deck out back to sit and relax. The setting is lovely in summer and winter, and in September when the Aspens are turning colors it is particularly beautiful. You can go hiking and there are bicycles if you would like to take a bike ride around the area. You are about 20 minutes from the casinos and Heavenly ski resort is there in town for skiing along with many really good restaurants. A particular favorite is Freshies on 50 near the Lake. Wonderful food and wonderful people. I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in spending time in one of the most beautiful places in California/Nevada.

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful "cabin", if you can call it a cabin...it is a beautiful home. We loved the location, went for walks around the area, played in snow behind the house, had a wonderful time in this very comfortable and tastefully decorated home away from home. We did not want to leave! Very quiet neighborhood! Loved it, loved it, loved it. (very clean!!) I would highly recommend it! Roomy for a family!!

We had an awesome time! We stayed for 3 weeks with our 2 australian shepherds. The town is so dog friendly--there's even a dog beach! The backyard of the cabin is the forest--breathtaking! There are numerous hiking trails nearby. The cabin is tastefully furnished with quality, comfortable furniture. The decor is classic mountain. No complaints at all. One of the best summers we've ever had.
