We arrived in Honalulu on a Friday,Halloween night, the traffic was awful to Ewa Beach. We turned onto Ewa Beach Rd. which is a very small narrow residential road in an older neighborhood. There were ghouls & goblins everywhere, we were beginging to wonder if we had made the right decision to rent Hale Lii. We turned into the long narrow driveway and ended up in our own private oasis. We felt so at home in this beautiful spot we are planning a trip back to Hale Lii. Our time there was the best part of our trip. Yes, the drive was worth it!!!!

We had a fabulous time in Oahu. When we arrived to the house, it looked just like the pictures we viewed on line. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to see the wonderful gifts from Laurie and the warm welcome of the ocean just steps away from the house. My husband and two teenage girls had a great time playing the board games and reading about the history of the islands - we really felt at home. We felt tucked away in paradise and not at a typical tourist trap hotel - our vacation went by slow and we took everything all in. We feel if we would have stayed in a traditional hotel, we would have missed so much, because time would have traveled by so fast. This was a FANTASTIC vacation and a GREAT location.

This was the first time we used the vrbo site so we were a bit leery, hoping the house and property would be as it was described. We were delighted to find it was that and more! From the minute we kicked off our shoes and stepped through the door, we felt at home. The welcoming basket on the kitchen table, fresh juice and milk in the fridge and the Kona Natural Soap in the bathroom are just a taste of all the special amenities provided. We spent hours in the back yard reading, relaxing and enjoying the spectacular view. Each day around 4:00 local surfers of all ages and skills would mix with those visiting boogie boarders to ride the waves. Such entertainment! The day of our 25th anniversary we arrived back at the house to find a bottle of wine and a lovely card, a wonderful Aloha gesture, from our host, Laurie. We arrived back to the main land and reality two weeks ago. Not a day has passed that I don’t dream of being at the Hale Lii house on Ewa Beach. We can’t wait to go back.

We just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks in Hawaii, the last 6 days spent thoroughly enjoying this wonderful beach house. All I can say is THANK YOU Laurie and Darla. The house sits right on a very private beach - just open the gate and put your feet in the sand and surf. Everything you could possibily want/need is there (right down to spices to cook with and laundry soap!) with special welcome gifts of fruit, juice and milk. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in HI and Laurie couldn't have been sweeter showing up with a delicious pie and Kona coffee. Having grown up on Ohau, she is a wealth of information along with the many books/maps/etc. in the house. The house is extremely comfortable, perfect for 3 or 4 and very nicely decorated. It was wonderful to open the louvers and listen to the ocean as you drift off to sleep. Location is close, but not TOO close to everything-airport, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki and the North Shore just 30 miles. Traffic on main road to the beach can be tough, but don't travel during rush hour. We will definately be returning. Thank you again for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. Mahalo!

My family of 8 just returned from a family trip to visit my husband's family on the Big Island and stopped on Oahu for about 5 days. What a WONDERFUL surprise to find this home and the one attached to it. The homes were perfect! Decorated so well that we went home and tried to recreate the feeling we had while we were there. The owner, Laurie, and her agent, Darla, were so gracious and friendly. The kitchen was stocked with everything from rice cooker to wine bottle opener and Laurie even had a wonderful gift of pineapple, Kona coffee, and macadmia nuts waiting for us. The sound of the ocean and the feel of the tradewinds cannot be beat. Yes, the traffic is bad during the commute time, but hey, we were on vacation and just adjusted our schedule when we left - which wasn't very often! Grocery stores and restaurants are nearby and the house is right on the ocean. We usually stay in Waikiki but will never again - we will always plan our vacations in the future around the availability of this wonderful house!

March 2008 — We had such a pleasant experience here! The owner, Laurie, lives nearby and was very warm and welcoming. She is a fount of information about Oahu - its history, beaches, culture - anything you want to know. She has stocked the house with lots of books about Oahu, plus maps and menus.

The house itself could not have been nicer. Everything we could imagine was provided, including beach gear like chairs, mats and boogie boards. The wi-fi was especially convenient for us. We also enjoyed the cable TV, DVD player, laundry roomand large refrigerator-freezer.

Although located in a tightly packed neighborhood, the house is very private and quiet (except for the sound of the ocean). The back yard ends at the beach. Ewa Beach is not a big surfing spot, so it was usually deserted, giving us the feeling of having our own private beach with a view of Diamond Head.

The traffic on the main road to Ewa is horrendous. We're selfishly hoping that this is enough to keep this spot undiscovered for now.
