A Perfect Place to Relax and Unwind

honeymoonersMD Baltimore, MD
Review Submitted: July 11, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My husband and I chose this location for our honeymoon and it was PERFECT. The villas are very clean, well-appointed and very comfortable. The beach was picture perfect and I've never seen a bigger smile on my husbands face than when he caught a bonefish....right in front of the house! Steve, the owner, was one of the most genuine and caring people we've ever met. He took us out fishing and my husband out spearfishing- both very successful trips! We stocked up on groceries before the drive out to Pelican Point and were most content knowing that the crystal blue water was right outside our door! We spent one day in Lucaya eating out and shopping with the other tourists, and couldn't wait to get back to our perfect little corner of the world in Pelican Point. Absolutely a perfect getaway... we can't wait to go back!

Honeymoon getaway

These Villas are right on the beach, and what a beach it is. Its quiet, remote and safe. The owner is top drawer. Early on we commented on how hospitable he was and he said, ' I can't help it my mother raised me to be this way'. We found this to be the honest truth. Steve met us at the airport and drove us in our rental car to the Villas. when we arrived we had the most spectacular meal prepared without us even knowing. We were famished and it was dark on arrival. Steve took care of us. Our week was spectacular. Rent a car and explore the Island from one tip to the other. Just remember when you turn left stay to the left side...left to left..remember that. Stock up on food, walk the beach and if Steve says he'll take you out in his motor boat...go!! You'll see remote Island villages, virgin beaches and Ocean life that you can reach into the water and touch. Steve is a hard working guy and he won't miss a beat when it comes to your comfort. Thanks Steve for a wonderful stay.

Spring break dream vacation fulfilled

Rental property exceeded the photos - was a great, clean place. Plan on renting a car or arrange transportation from Freeport - but in exchange you can relax in a safe local community and enjoy a wonderful beach, great snorkeling and accumulate authentic "fish" stories. I suggest you stock up on breakfast and lunch foods at the grocery before leaving Freeport and then enjoy the local cuisine for at least one meal/day. Many of the local ladies cook for vacationers and its well worth it. I regret I didn't have them prepare more meals for us. Our family really enjoyed the week.

A Piece of Paradise

I could not have chosen a friendlier and more beautiful spot for a week's vacation than Pelican Point and the Sandy Beach Resort. Nowhere in my vast travels have I encountered friendlier and more hospitable people. No matter what it is you need or want, everyone's interested in seeing that you're happy and satisfied. It's just amazing!!The cottages at Sandy Beach were built by Steve Laing, the owner, and are nicely done, well appointed, air conditioned and nearly new - a real treat after many of the places that I've been to. I'm a fly fisherman and found bonefish galore right in front of my cottage as well as on many nearby flats. Yes, these fish are wary, but they are catchable with my l largest approaching 9 lbs., although I saw several much larger specimens that eluded me. I had casts to permit as well, but did not hook up. The sand beach in front of the cottages is very nice, the water's quite calm and the swimming is super. The reef is just a short distance off shore and is populated with all sorts of colorful fish. You can kayak to a blue hole that is really cool and home for all manner of creatures. Did I mention the food at SAndy Beach? WOW! If you enjoy conch, fresh fish, lobster and stone crab you will be in heaven. There are local ladies who will gladly cook up incredible fare and deliver it to your cottage at very reasonable prices. I can't wait to get back to Sandy Beach for some true island hospitality, great fishing and fine food. Give this spot a try, you won't be disappointed.

Husband hits a home run

Review Submitted: April 15, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My wife was busy. Spring Break was my job. Secluded beachfront
attracted my 18 year old also. Pulled next to villa my air-sick wife's first words "It's beautiful. Flat screen T.V. tile floor, cathedral ceiling-this is no hunter's cabin. Steve added snorkeling & fishing experience
no extra cost. WOW! Steve's Mom cooked a couple scrumptious meals for us. St. Matthew's Baptist Church blessed us. You get close proximity to ocean with white sand beach- a down-right fair price -a owner I consider a friend. Ask Steve whatever you wonder about. Steve works very hard for you to achieve what you desire in a positive life-time memory. Aaw maybe it was a stand-up triple

The best place in the Bahamas

Lenemor Norway
Review Submitted: April 13, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
We stayed at Sandy Beach villas for one week, and i was the best week we had in the Bahamas. Our two toddlers ( 2 years, 1 year) had a wonderful time at the beach, witch is amazing. The water is crystal clear, and there are a lot of fish, even sting rays. It is also a very good place for snorklig. Steve, the owner, is a fanastic and helpful guy. He made our say very pleasant. The villa was very nice, and contained all the nessesarry things, and i was very nice to sit on the front porch to see the sun get up in the morning. So if you want to get away from the noise and husstle in Freeport, this is the place to stay.We will come back to this place again, that is for sure :).

Peaceful Pelican Point Sandy Bay Villas

Bilbo152 Crete Greece
Review Submitted: March 8, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
We had the good fortune to live on Grand Bahama for a year and on an island famous for its beaches Pelican Point stands out.

The Sandy Bay Villas are directly on the beach with a stunning view over white sands to the turquoise sea. It is very peaceful looking out from the porch watching for the dolphins. Pelican Point is a very sleepy village where it is impossible to do anything but relax and get away from it all.

We visited Pelican Point villas 6 times while we lived on GB and enjoyed every weekend. The cottages are comfortable and well appointed. Steve – the owner – is extremely helpful and friendly. He can advise you on what you need to take since there are no restaurants or shops in the village.

Every time we visited we saw something new. Walking along the fine white sand it is possible to see string rays in the shallow water and you can spot bonefish as well. The reef is a short swim away and it has a fascinating variety of reef fish. It is easily possible to see the fish 20 feet down while kayaking over the reef. One memorable weekend we spent 30 mins with a pod of dolphins that swam under our kayak and were close enough to touch.

Steve also has a boat and can arrange for some fascinating visits to local cays. On our last visit we went to Sweetings Cay and the boat ride was spectacular. The water was so clear that we saw the sea urchins and starfish clearly on the bottom. We have visited some of the most beautiful beaches in the world including the Maldives and Seychelles but we were stunned by the clarity of the water around the Cays. On the trip back we visited a beautiful blue hole and caught some conch!

We will have fond memories of Sandy Bay Villas and it is the place that we will miss most on Grand Bahama. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity and love the water – Pelican Point is hard to beat.

True Paradise

Review Submitted: December 30, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2008
The photos of SandyBeach Villas hardly do a justice to this remarkably beautiful, secluded and picturesque place. If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of most touristy stays, Pelican Point is your place. Remotely located on one of the most gorgeous beaches in the world, it offers complete peace and tranquility from the outside world. Not to mention, this area is known for its world famous bone fishing flats which are just footsteps away from the villas. There are numerous blue holes (underwater caves) that provide a perfect haven for adventurous snorkelers or divers.

Pelican Point is located about 35mins. east of Freeport and literally has miles of unoccupied beaches. The only footprints we saw for our 2 week stay, were ours. Perhaps the most memorable experience was the genuine sincerity, friendlessness, and care of the locals in Pelican Point.

If you are looking for a secluded, remote, and unbelievably gorgeous place with un-trecked beaches and blue waters , surrounded by wonderful people, the SandyBeach Villas are for you.
