The Very Best of Austin Hospitality!

MomInBlack Cuyahoga Falls, OH USA
Review Submitted: January 21, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
Being a former resident of Austin for 17 years, I can tell you from experience that this vacation rental offers the very best of Austin hospitatliy and style! If you want to have an authentic "Austin Experience" this homey and comfortable cottage is the place to be. As far as ammenties, you will find nothing lacking.

I think I spent as much time on the deck as in the house, soaking up the sun and admiring the view, while drinking a cup of excellent coffee. In the evening, with a warm fire in the chiminea, and a cold Shiner beer, the deck was the perfect way to kick back and relax and at the end of the day.

If you are a "linen snob", this is the place for you. Excellent beds and bedding, big fluffy towels, not your usual hotel fare when traveling. Oh, and the shower! Let's hear it for water pressure! And with the on demand water heater, no waiting for hot water to take a shower when your group is in a hurry to get out and see the sights.

My thirteen year old daughter, a budding photographer, especially liked Stacy Park, and spent time there taking pictures. This house is a great place for shutterbugs, and kids of all ages. A friend visited with her dog, and they found the place totally pet friendly with the park across the street, and fenced in back yard.

Here's a tip for those of us who like to shop, but don't like the "cookie cutter" clothing that you usually find at big box retailers, and malls. After a "wardrobe malfunction", my daughter and I made an emergency shopping trip to the boutiques in SoCo. While you would expect boutique clothes shopping in an arts district to be a pricey proposition, we found beautiful and unique clothes for suprisingly reasonable prices. As to be expected, all of the sales staffs in the shops of SoCo were attentive and friendly, which is typical of Austin. They turned an unplanned, (and potentially stressed out), last minute shopping trip into a pleasant experience.

A big "Thank You So Very Much" to Sandy, she is awesome. You will find that you are at want for nothing during your stay in this house, as she is so personable, prompt, and attentive. As many before me have stated in their reviews, we will be back to our "home away from home" in Austin for our next visit.
Owner's Response: Guests like this are why we love doing what we do!
Thanks!
Sandy

Perfect Home Base for Rainy ACL

elmonty Lakewood, CA
Review Submitted: October 12, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My husband and I stayed here during the rain soaked 2009 Austin City Limits Festival. The house was perfect for our needs. Quiet, comfortable, well stocked with everything we needed nearby. To get to the festival, we'd drive downtown to park and catch the shuttle. It all worked great. And the washer and dryer definitely came in handy with our rain and mud soaked clothing.

Sandy was great to work with. She made the entire experience so easy from my first inquiry right up to our return. We've stayed at a few vacation rentals and this easily was one of our best experiences.

Sandy is the best landlady imaginable and that shows in this cozy, well- equiped, updated house. The furnishings are interesting, beds are especially comfy, expresso coffee maker is a much appreciated bonus (and a supply of excellent coffee), and everything is very clean. But, the reason I rented it was for the views and the location. I wasn't disappointed. Travis Heights is perfectly positioned for enjoying Austin and the surrounding Hill Country. I'd be happy to rent from Sandy and Glen again.

This house was GREAT! Well equipped, clean, and comfortable. It is in a good location with easy access for walking to the SoCo area. We even walked all the way to 6th St a few times. Sandy was very helpful and not only made us feel at home but helped us find the best grocery store, pizza joint, and Mexican food. The home is loaded with maps, local fliers, and guide books about Austin. The neighborhood is very quite and has easy access to both the downtown area and the freeway. I would defiantly recommend this home for those wanting to be close to the action but not right in the middle of it.

perfect home base

Debnise HOUSTON
Review Submitted: June 3, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
I had a wonderful experience with this rental. My three friends and I were visiting Austin for the Memorial Day Weekend from Houston. This house a perfect"home base" for our travels in Austin. It is centrally located and close to downtown but there is easy access to the freeways to get out of town also. We spent our days out in the Lakeway area golfing, eating and sightseeing. Then came home to go out on Sixth St or downtown for dinner. It was a cheap taxi fare and really made it a vacation from worrying about anything. The house is comfortable and well furnished. The setting of the house in on a hillside in a canopy of live oaks. Very calming and feels like you are not in a large city. You can see all the tall landmarks downtown from either one of the decks or on the walk. We spend Sunday morning touring the Capitol building. Saturday night we ate at Sullivans then took a carriage ride around downtown. We bat watched at the bridge at sunset and took in the sunset at the Oasis out on Lake Travis another evening. There are so many things we did not get to do that we have to come back soon! The house was cool and comfortable with four people. The linens are very nice and I am a linen snob. Loved the colors and the style of the house. Much more comfortable than an impersonal hotel. The one draw back that really just requires planning on the guests part would be the one bathroom. There is a HEB grocery store minutes away. The best part was dealing with Sandy and Glen. They were professional, responsive and genuinely happy to have us. They really made us feel welcome to Austin and were prompt and anxious to make our stay a good one without being overbearing. Thank you for sharing your place in the trees! We will be back!

I rented this house for my daughter-in-law & grandchildren (2 1/2 and 4 1/2) for 2 weeks. They really enjoyed the geothermal pool across the street as well as the playground. Location is great. House is fine. Owner is responsive. I definitely recommend it. I live in Austin and am a big fan of So. Austin and this neighborhood. Big kudos.

We loved staying at this cottage on the hill. It was very well equipped, comfortable, and fun to be close to all the activity in the SoCo area. Sandy was very professional with all her dealings related to the rental, and we felt very comfortable doing business with her.

Thanks, Sandy, for allowing us to stay in your lovely "cottage" with our little toy poodle Emma. It was perfect for us and we loved being close to the park and all the activity on SoCo. It makes us miss living in Austin. We will definitely stay again. Skip and Pam Smith
