Great little getaway cabin, well-equipped with modern appliances (including washer/dryer) and satellite tv. Enjoyed the beautiful walking paths on the property, and the quiet. Easy access to Madison and Spring Green attractions, as well as to local hiking and biking trails. Owner very helpful and nice.
Owner's Response: At DaleWood Retreat our goal is to make your stay very enjoyable by providing for your comfort and needs; after all, that's your desire and certainly ours !
Come for a stay soon.

Perfect Retreat for our Fall Getaway

bnd Waukesha, WI
Review Submitted: October 26, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Every year my wife and I enjoy the autumn colors on a long weekend "Fall Getaway." This year we were lucky to find Dalewood Retreat available as our base as we toured the beautiful rolling hills and hollows around Spring Green. If you haven't spent much time in this area it's amazing and you can take in some of its wonderful views without ever leaving the property. We also found time to enjoy the freshly wood-chipped trails that meander through the woods and grass prairie. The cottage was very clean and tastefully appointed with a very warm and cozy feel. After following the Art Tour and local hiking we'd settled in with a bottle of wine and a good book! More than enough room for the two of us and would've been very comfortable with another couple as well. Our privacy was well respected and would've needed more time to fully utilize all the amenities (grill, firepits, laundry, etc.). A great place to stay and will definitely return some day!

Fantastic Place to Stay on Vacation!

Rachel Anne Oak Forest, IL
Review Submitted: October 13, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We recently stayed here for a small weekend away. This rental was definately the best choice for lodging we could have picked! Everything was very comfortable (bed, sleeper sofa, couches and downstairs chairs) and felt like home. It was a very good size for the four of us - not too big or too small. We loved being able to easily cook breakfast in the kitchen and dinner on the grill. It was close enough to the main attraction we wanted to visit - House on the Rock.

We all agreed that when we come back we want to stay here again and will recommend it to anyone who asks. This owner and his super friendly dog are awesome hosts as well!

Breathtaking Views

I spent four days at this lovely retreat in the mountaintops with two friends. The two story cottage was just wonderful and the owner had thought of every amenity possible. The listing for the little vacation home looked great but there was much more there than anticipated. As we drove up a winding road to the top of a mountain, the serenity of the surroundings was inspiring and we all took a deep breath. There was lots of open space, hiking trails and bbq areas right next to the house and another one up some stairs higher on the mountain! Maya, the owner's dog was loving and welcoming, and we really enjoyed her friendly, frolicky, yet very well behaved company. There was a big refrigerator, a kitchen with everything, lots of cozy nooks for reading and comfortable beds and sofas exactly as shown in the pictures, all in excellent condition. Everything was impeccably clean but not sterile. It was like the quintessential "home sweet home" and we never wanted to leave. The location was easy to find for a direction challenged driver and close to area attractions while still evoking a feeling that we were a hundred miles away from any stress or too much bustle. The owner, Dale, was the perfect host, providing us with privacy while at the same time always being available if we were in need of anything, which, of course, we were not, other than some very helpful directions. He even thought of the charcoal and starter fluid for the grill! We will definitely go back.

Simply great relaxation

We stayed here while attending American Players Theater performances. The place is very clean and relaxing, with trails to hike before dinner--or after. Great grilling and an adequate kitchen for cooking all the extras, and for breakfast. Dale is great, fun to talk to and will provide anything you want, within reason I suppose. We recommend it.

My husband and I go to Spring Green every year in June to catch some shows at American Players Theater. This year we shared this cottage with my sister and her boyfriend. We all really enjoyed the fire pit, grilling out, the trails, the beautiful vistas and Maya the dog's company. It was very relaxing and fun. We would highly reccomend this cottage to anyone.

Great Place to Relax!

Bruse Eau Claire, WI, USA
Review Submitted: May 29, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
I just stayed at the Dobbs retreat in May of 2009 and it was so relaxing. You are really out in country here, far from any city lights or sounds. The property is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and hiking trail to explore the nearly forty acres of land. The rental house is clean, well maintained and very attractive. Mya, the dog was a real treat to be around and was very friendly and very well behaved my entire stay. If you want a quiet relaxing place to stay surrounded only by natural beauty, this is the place for you.

Relaxing Getaway Weekend

Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
What a wonderful jewel Dalewood Retreat is! Nestled in the rolling central Wisconsin hills, this cozy cottage was the perfect spot to get away from the hustle-bustle of Chicago and relax for our girlfriend's weekend. The accomodations are extremely clean and well appointed. Furniture and beds are very comfortable and the views are breathtaking. Dale does a beautiful job maintaining his grounds - lots to see. Wish we had more time to explore his property. His dog Maya was a friendly sentry....we loved sitting outside with her. Thanks for everything, Dale!
