Perfect Vacation
The house and grounds are perfect. Both are maintained so well. We loved cooking meals. Eating on the porch or gazebo. Loved taking drinks in a cooler to the beach! We loved playing in the ocean.
Jane got us from St. Kitts to Nevis, with her awesome crew, Daisy, Wincent and Marlon and Bonnie, there at the Lazy Turtle to show you around. You get little tibits of info from all of them. Go on the Tour with Marlon. He is fun to be around and you learn so much about Nevis.
Our favorite saying came from DeJorn, "It's safe, you are in Nevis now".(As he left our luggage outside of Marlon's taxi). Every place is safe, free to explore all the beaches and trails.
We ate at Sunshine's(Hmm! Killer Bee, conch, and conch fritters), Golden Rock(Lobster sandwich, Chicken curry and chocolate cake, sinful), The Gallipot(Wahoo was good),Ouellie's(Fish tacos and beer battered fish, and Paradise Drive Thru(french fries and chicken wings, yummy!) and had ice cream at OMG! The food was great to out of this world. We also heard that all the snackettes on the island make great, yummy local food and is pretty cheap (we'll try them next time).
I would suggest going to the fruit and veggie stands before you buy them at the grocery store. Great selections in both! You will find just about everything we have here.
So much to see and do! We climbed Mt. Nevis to the view(slippery rock)! Drove on roads that lead off the main Rd. We went to Fort Charlse, it's in ruins, but so worth finding. There are views every where you are of either the ocean or mountains (The Lazy Turtle has both!). We walked the beaches, watched the sunsets. Lounged in the pool, swam at night under the stars. Took a ferry to St. Kitts out of Charlestown. Went on a taxi tour with William, De KIng, he is fun and knows the island's history. He loves his island and loves sharing it with you! He loves questions! Brimstone, Romney Manor, Black Rocks, black beaches and more! It was a Great Day!
The people of Nevis are friendly, helpful to tourist, who can't find places. We found smiles are universal and so is laughter. Look around, you may see birds, small lizards, cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, monkeys, crabs. Watch carefully as you drive and see the older goats and sheep heard the little ones to the side of the road.
We say Maine is the way life should be...nuh, Nevis is the way life should be. We know why people have come to Nevis and why some never left! I know we will be back!
