Photos and Description of the Nisbet Beach vacation villa rental
2 bedrooms, 2 baths

The Lazy Turtle Villa is one of the few beach side villas with private pool on Nevis.

Set between the mountain and the beach, the views are stunning from every room. A private path leads you to the white sands of Nisbet beach. A short walk leads you to Nisbet Plantation, a top rated plantation style inn where you can enjoy excellent dining or simply a cold drink at the casual beach bar. You can set up a tab there for your convenience.

The villa includes a very large porch with 2 hammocks, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, a living room with WIFI, TV, and DVD and just outside is another hammock and gazebo nearby.

Our bedrooms feature Nevisian style mahogany beds with Egyptian cotton sheets. The master bedroom is air conditioned although most people prefer to fall asleep to the magical tradewinds.

We will pick you up at Nevis airport or on St. Kitts free of charge and bring you home where a rental car will await you. We pride ourselves on our service and convenience.

Tennis: Four Seasons tennis is second to none, with ten courts and ample facilities, services and amenities including night play and professional instruction.

Managed by world-renowned Peter Burwash International, the site comprises four red clay courts (two lit for night play) and six hard courts (three lit for night play). Tennis equipment, apparel and accessories are available from the pro shop, located in the sports pavilion.

The Four Seasons hotel is a short drive away and welcomes our guests for Tennis and Golf (see below). Spa treatments can also be reserved at their world class spa.

Water Sports: Lazy turtle is a short drive from Oualie beach resort. There you will find scuba diving, mountain biking, snorkeling, sunfish sailing, sport fishing boats, a windsurfing school, hobie cats, kayaks and day sailing adventures on yachts and catamarans. You can rent boats, windsurfers and kayaks.

Guided sailing trips can be arranged at this location.

Four Seasons beach club is a 20 minute drive and offers waterskiing, banana boating and tubing.

Adventure sports and other activities: The mountainous terrain and beautiful beaches provide the perfect backdrop for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking.

We will direct you to some terrific guides who can help share the island with you and create a perfect workout as well!

One of our favorite activities is hiking to plantation ruins. Our kids like to figure out the function of each building they discover.

Climb to the top of Mount Nevis! This is not for the faint of heart and a guide is recommended. This is a stunning hike and the view from the top is well worth the effort!

Why Lara Patriquin chose Nisbet Beach

Nevis has a little of everything: beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife, great hiking, world class golfing, water sports and incredible restaurants. We also just love the people. This is an unspoiled island that has maintained it's dignity over the years. We have made many friends amongst the people there and could not imagine a more serene place to unwind.

The house and grounds are perfect. Both are maintained so well. We loved cooking meals. Eating on the porch or gazebo. Loved taking drinks in a cooler to the beach! We loved playing in the ocean.
Jane got us from St. Kitts to Nevis, with her awesome crew, Daisy, Wincent and Marlon and Bonnie, there at the Lazy Turtle to show you around. You get little tibits of info from all of them. Go on the Tour with Marlon. He is fun to be around and you learn so much about Nevis.
Our favorite saying came from DeJorn, "It's safe, you are in Nevis now".(As he left our luggage outside of Marlon's taxi). Every place is safe, free to explore all the beaches and trails.
We ate at Sunshine's(Hmm! Killer Bee, conch, and conch fritters), Golden Rock(Lobster sandwich, Chicken curry and chocolate cake, sinful), The Gallipot(Wahoo was good),Ouellie's(Fish tacos and beer battered fish, and Paradise Drive Thru(french fries and chicken wings, yummy!) and had ice cream at OMG! The food was great to out of this world. We also heard that all the snackettes on the island make great, yummy local food and is pretty cheap (we'll try them next time).
I would suggest going to the fruit and veggie stands before you buy them at the grocery store. Great selections in both! You will find just about everything we have here.
So much to see and do! We climbed Mt. Nevis to the view(slippery rock)! Drove on roads that lead off the main Rd. We went to Fort Charlse, it's in ruins, but so worth finding. There are views every where you are of either the ocean or mountains (The Lazy Turtle has both!). We walked the beaches, watched the sunsets. Lounged in the pool, swam at night under the stars. Took a ferry to St. Kitts out of Charlestown. Went on a taxi tour with William, De KIng, he is fun and knows the island's history. He loves his island and loves sharing it with you! He loves questions! Brimstone, Romney Manor, Black Rocks, black beaches and more! It was a Great Day!
The people of Nevis are friendly, helpful to tourist, who can't find places. We found smiles are universal and so is laughter. Look around, you may see birds, small lizards, cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, monkeys, crabs. Watch carefully as you drive and see the older goats and sheep heard the little ones to the side of the road.
We say Maine is the way life should be...nuh, Nevis is the way life should be. We know why people have come to Nevis and why some never left! I know we will be back!

This was our second stay at Lazy Turtle and it was just as great as the first time. Lara and Jane have created a paradise in this rental home. The description does not accurately describe how great this home is to rent. They have provided everything that you need to feel like you are staying in the Four Seasons but with the privacy of your own pool and beach. The property is taken care of a gardener, pool man and a housekeeper who respect your privacy but keep the property immaculate. The addition of the air conditioner was nice when the bedroom became too hot one night but the rest of the house remains cools with the ocean breezes. The view of the ocean from the house is perfect. Bonnie does a great job of meeting you at the house and giving you house and island information. She is available 24 hours a day and is always very helpful. There are alot of great restaurants and things to do on the island. Marlon Locke, who we rented a car from, gives a great island tour. We advise taking the tour early in your stay so you can go back to the places and spend more time checking them out. Some of the great restaurants we ate at were Lime Cafe, Cafe des Arts, Coconut Grove and Montpelier Planatation Inn. The entertainment at Lime Cafe on Friday night is excellent so don't miss it. We would also recommend OMG which serves the best ice cream - make sure to ask for the special creations. We actually didn't have a bad meal at any of the restaurants. We really enjoyed the Nevisian Heritage Village and just exploring the island. Everyone is very helpful and friendly on the island so take the time to visit with the local people. I would recommend this property to everyone and anyone. We have stayed at other Home Away properties and we think this one is the best. Take our advice and don't pass up this property or you will regret it!

We had a great time in Nevis and at the Lazy Turtle Villa. we went as two couples and spent most of our time when at the villa either in the large screened in porch (we fought over the hammocks during naptime!) or out at the pool. It is a warm pool and there are nice beach towels provided. The place had very limited bugs (only saw two and that is pretty impressive when thinking about the environment we were in) and the towels and sheets were comfy and nice! They pay to have someone clean, garden, and tend to the pool so it remained quite clean and nice. We had Bonnie and Jane Paul helping us and they were terrific. They also have wonderful suggestions! we went deep sea fishing with their recommendation and it was terrific! we caught 6 fish (had a few more on-a barracuda, black-finned tuna, and whitefish) in 5 foot swells. it is a little windy during this time but the breeze felt wonderful and made for terrific sleeping (and adventurous fishing). she also provided us with a tour of the island with a great guide. We also hiked to the top of the volcano (3200 feet or so). It is definitely more of a climb than a "hike" but another terrific adventure. Food was very good on the island. somewhat expensive but fresh fish, salads, and great scenery! Definitely would come back again and the Lazy Turtle was excellent! They were so helpful and it was a terrific place to stay.
This place is on the ocean, on the Atlantic side. This is not the most popular beach and it is not a huge beach but the trade winds helped with sleeping and staying cool. when we wanted to really walk the beach, we went to Pinney's beach, grabbed a Killer Bee (rum punch) from Sunshine's and wandered. this is a little bit better for walking for a longer period of time. we did rent a car so we could go to the restaurants and explore the island a bit more. Again, the owners have recommendations for this and it was wonderful!!

We have rented many vacation homes but never had an owner take such good care of us as Jane has done.  She has gone above and beyond every step of the way, from the organization of the complimentary transport from St. Kitts to the house, to the island tour, the beautiful souvenir book and so much more.  The house is even nicer than it appears on the website.  The pool was warm and spotless, the gardens beautiful and the view of the ocean a dream. Being able to stroll over to Nisbet Plantation wasmambig plus. We could be sociable when we wanted and escape to our own private retreat when we wanted to be alone. Most of all, we have fallen in love with the people of Nevis and will miss everyone we met.

There is one simple word for The Lazy Turtle " Perfect". We have stayed at various loctions in the West Indies but Nevis is certanily top on the list. The property is first class and Jane Paul and her staff are there to assist only when you need them. The pool is a must and we spent a ton of our time reading and enjoying the surrondings. From the moment you are pick up to the time you leave Jane has covered all the bases. Thanks for sharing your house for us it made for a great vacation and we will be back.

Beauty on the beach

We opted to vacation on Nevis because of its reputation for a laid-back life-style: small, quaint villages nestled in a tropical paradise, quiet and devoid of throngs of tourists. The sound of the ocean and the feel of the sun were our only two requirements.
For one week we rented The Lazy Turtle, which exceeded our expectations on all levels. It sits on a lush, gardened property at the end of an untrafficked lane. There is the house, then the pool and gazebo, then a verdant spanse of lawn down to a gate and on to what turned out to be one of the prettiest beaches on the island. The beach is sloped and not very wide – we liked it because few people walked by. For those who want the wide beach sunbathing experience with the option of ordering tropical drinks while you wait to tan, one only has to walk a minute to the Nisbet Plantation next door. The Nisbet is very welcoming to Lazy Turtle renters. We spent our “wildest” night of the week at the Thursday night Nisbet barbecue where we danced, beach-side to an island band.
Life at Lazy Turtle is easy. The kitchen has all the conveniences for making meals. Jane Paul gave us a list of good restaurants to try but our favorite meals turned out to be the ones we made at the house dining al fresco on the porch or in the gazebo.…huge savings, too, as prices at the better eateries are steep. Jane was island-central, she knows everyone and steered us in the right direction every time. She was unobtrusive and exceedingly kind – arranged an island tour, a must if one is at all interested in the people, culture and history. She also expedited our travel to the island, car rental, and our trip back to St. Kitt’s airport.
Lazy Turtle is cleaned twice a week and is well-maintained. The main bedroom is air-conditioned and the other is not, however we found island breezes sufficient. The main focus of the house is the huge screened-in porch where cocoon-like hammocks lure you to read or sleep. The pool is just the right size for water aerobics, raft floating, or a refreshing dip after baking poolside. The beds were comfortable, made more so because sleep was against the back drop of peepers, night birds and the thrum of the ocean waves.
Most memorable was watching the light show put on at night by huge fireflies at the edge of the lawn.
If one is looking for privacy, nature and an accommodation that feels like home then we highly recommend The Lazy Turtle.

The perfect escape!

All the comforts of home but in a beautiful location in paradise. The pictures are accurate but don't come NEAR to capturing what it feels like to be there in person. What can we say? Everything---EVERYTHING---about the Lazy Turtle felt right, thanks to who owns it (Jane and Lara) and how they maintain it. The house and pool are cleaned twice weekly. The garden---cared for by a lovely older gentleman---creates an amazingly beautiful and private surrounding. The kitchen is stocked with everything but food. The grill is ready to fire up anytime. The screened patio is PERFECT---for reading, games, meals, naps, or when you've had enough sun for a while but don't want to be inside (also a wonderful barrier for mosquitos, which are sprayed for regularly). The access to the beach and to the Plantation Inn beach bar is perfect---just close enough, but not TOO close. The lounge chairs by the pool and the gazebo are lovely in- and out-of-the-sun options all day. And LAST BUT NOT LEAST---the pool. Where do I start? I had no idea the pool would be my absolute favorite part but it was. Before we arrived, it seemed like a nice feature and I assumed we'd be down at the beach all day and maybe take a dip at night. But turns out seeing and hearing the beach was a wonderfully sufficient backdrop to floating peacefully and privately in your own pool.

If you're looking for a private getaway with access to people and places when you want them but isolation from them when you don't, Nevis and the Lazy Turtle are absoutely perfect. Lara's and Jane's arrangements and recommendations were MOST valuable and appreciated. Bonnie's greeting and tour of the house was very welcoming, and she's a phone call away if you have questions or need anything. Marlon Brando's tour was definitely a worthwhile 3 hours---basically acquainted us with the whole island, history, attractions and driving customs (very handy!). But mostly, we miss the pool.

Thank you, Jane, Lara and Bonnie, for a most wonderful getaway and for the care while we were there. Against our better/selfish judgement, we're telling EVERYONE about the Lazy Turtle!

We had a great time at the Lazy Turtle.......renting is the way to go! The villa is great.....plenty of room, great screened in porch, and your own pool with a view! We spent most of our days just hanging out at the villa and swimming in the pool. There is also a small trail (50 yds) at the back end of the property to get to the beach (but you can also walk on the road around the property). Very easy to get everywhere. I encourage any visitors to open a tab at Nisbet, for those times you want an easy meal or drink.....we did breakfast there every morning.....very relaxing! Laura, Jane and Marlon were all very helpful and made the trip a pleasure! We will be back!
