Villa Olivia is a fabulous mulit-level oceanfront vacation home exquisitely situated on the pristine sandy beach of Playa Grande. The mediterranean style layout of this Costa Rican beach house emphasizes open spaces and large verandas to accommodate large families, groups of friends, reunions and weddings. Furnishings and decor are contemporary and comfortable, many custom-made from local hardwoods.

A refreshing open air courtyard offers each bedroom a private entrance. Terrazzo tile floors flow throughout the interior and spill out across the spacious beachfront verandas. Tropical gardens all with palm trees and palm trees and coconut trees create an intimate atmosphere.

Included in the rental rate is wireless internet, room cleaning every third day and evening security. A private cook is available at an additional cost.

Villa Olivia offers a perfect and uncomplicated oceanfront vacation, specifically designed for friends, families, or groups. With our other oceanfront villa located next door, Casa Mirage, we can accommodate 26 guests.

Playa Grande “big beach” is truly one of the most unique, unspoiled vacation spots in Costa Rica. Located only an hour drive from the Liberia Airport (LIR) its 2 mile-long crescent shaped coastline of warm blue waters and honey colored sand forms the Las Baulas Marine National Park. A sanctuary for the nesting giant leatherback turtles.

Go explore the estuary in a canoe, spotting birds, iguanas and crocodiles basking on the sun-drenched riverbanks. Snorkel Playa Conchal made up of billions of crushed shells. Attend a weekend fiesta, featuring bull riding, traditional food, marimba music, and dancing. Tee-off at the course designed by Robert Trent Jones which meanders through a rolling terrain with breathtaking ocean views. To end the day sail along the shoreline as dolphins frolic beside you.

Why Julie Gordon chose Playa Grande

We are a family of 'water babies' born and raised on the beach shores of Santa Barbara, CA. (Of course the grand kids also have this ocean gene). Once my children (Julie, J.C, and Mark) became of an age when we could all travel my husband and I would take them during summer vacation on a surf safari to an exotic destination somewhere in the world. This was not only for fun, but to spend quality time with each other as well as to expose and educate them about different cultures and customs.

On a surfing safari to Costa Rica in '91 we instantly fell in love with the country, the kind and hospitable people, and the natural habitat. It was a paradise!! Long story short after returning to the States and raving to family and friends about this oasis a friend said he had the perfect property for our family in Playa Grande.

My husband flew down a month later and purchased the property for me as my 50th B-Day present! Over the past 17 years both my family and friends lives have been significantly enhanced by the beauty of the 'Tico' people, the natural wonders that surrounds us and the 'Pura Vida' lifestyle. This means Pure Life, an expression of contentment, happiness, and satisfaction with ones life. It's this philosophy that ranks Costa Rica as one of the happiest places in the world!!

Wonderful Wedding Venue

Thank you Julie for sharing your wonderful home away from home with us. It was absolutely perfect to be next to the newlyweds throughout our stay. Beach volleyball, surfing, shelling, swimming, fishing, & much camaraderie up & down the beach, as there were 46 guests scattered around Playa Grande. The rehearsal dinner at Villa Olivia was great & as far as I could tell created no additional work for Kimberly.

We did meet Marianella on Saturday, which was helpful since it was somewhat challenging prior to Saturday attempting to communicate with Kimberly, who was eager to accommodate as long as we could make ourselves understood. The dishwasher does not work & I'm not sure who we told about that but you may want to make sure a repair is addressed before your next tenants arrive.

My son found my camera after an urgent email to him, so I'm relieved, since our trip was documented on it.

Know that we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Villa Olivia & will recommend it to anyone looking for a similar dwelling.

A True Family Vacation Fun, Adventure, Relaxation

Villa Olivia, Costa Rica was a vacation with family and friends that offered beautiful accommodations,a huge sandy beach, glamourous sunsets, terrific adventure opportunities with Alex, our personal jungle tour guide kindly arranged with the help of property manager Marianella, German bakery truck delivery, local beach front Taco Bar and surrounding restaurants for delicious food. We think one of the best features were the rocking chairs on the patio to sit & sip Cuba Libre while watching the ocean waves roll in.

Our extended family (grandmas, college kids, baby boomers) just returned from Villa Olivia. It was a wonderful experience. The staff made us feel like family! The pictures do not do the property justice. It literally sits on the Pacific Ocean...the sunsets are amazing, the beach pristine and the house spacious and with many amenities. We were treated each day by Costa Rician cuisine prepared by Kimberly. Definitely have her prepare meals for you...she is a sweetheart and an incredible cook!

Another Great Vacation!

my wife and i along with a few friends just spent another great week here. we loved our first trip here so much we came back. the house is very comfortable and worked well for a few families. we ate dinner everynight together outside and had many laughs. the beach is great and so relaxing. it was a shame we didnt have more time. thanks julie and to her very helpful staff.

Recently returned from the 4th trip I've planned to Playa Grande at Julie's Villas. I really cannot even describe how amazing this place is. The house is ridiculously nice and well maintained. The beach is like being in heaven. Can't say enough about this place. Just don't book in early January...cause that's when I go!

Julie your Villa Olivia is so beautiful. We chose the slow season and are thankful for your pricing. The staff, from Marianela, Kimberly, Jeffrey and tour guide Geiner were very accomadating and helpful. Kimberly had prepared an excellent meal for us upon arrival and took care of us the entire week. We truly did have the entire beach to ourselves. We are planning to return in March 2012. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your villa that is so sentimental to your family.
