This cozy cottage is situated twenty feet from the shoreline of quiet Dyer Long Pond in Jefferson, ME. This quiet retreat offers a rustic pine interior with all the amenities needed to enjoy your Maine vacation. Near the lower half of the lake, the cottage is nestled in dense pine and oak trees. The lake is quiet with very little power boating and is more geared towards canoeing and kayaking. It is a nature lovers spot with good chances of siting ospreys, bald eagles, beavers, turtles, loons, and many other bird species. Cottage is 15-min from the Mid-coast of Maine. Explore Damariscotta and the Penobscot bay areas for antiquing and outdoor pursuits. Close to area lighthouses and maritime museums, Pemaquid point one of the most photographed lighthouses is 27 miles. Well ..my family really enjoyed the month of August in the cabin. We had good weather and very good fishing:) My daughter and her husband spent the month with us rowing the canoe, fishing from the dock and canoe, enjoying watching wildlife and going to Clark's Farm , right down the street, everyday for fresh food!
We wish we could go back in 2013 but we now have a grand daughter and hope we can all make it back in 2014 with the whole family.

Peace and Solitude

We just spent a week at your "Camp" cabin on the lake. It was just perfect for us - so peaceful and quiet! And the view of the lake from the cabin is outstanding. The weather was a bit cool during the week so we did not swim, but sitting on the deck and reading was wonderful. We took a couple of excursions to Rockland and Camden for lobster and that was lots of fun (what wonderful little villages they are!) If you are looking for the luxury of a Hilton Hotel this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a really cute cabin with everything you need in a beautiful location this is it!

If you like stepping into another land then Martin's Cabin is it! Peaceful and truely a place away from it all. The listing description was accurate. The cabin was clean and well maintained. My family is planning to go back again for a longer stay next year. My daughter and her husband will try to rent for the month of July next year. Bring a GPS to find your way around and back to the cabin. Thanks Lucas for a wonderful vacation.

A quiet, cozy vacation spot in Maine

I've spent the last two summers vacationing at this Cottage close to the coast of Maine. Even in the middle of the busy summer months like July and August the lake is very quiet and peaceful. I love the birdwatching from the shore as well as while kayaking. I've seen loons, bald eagles, ospreys to name a few. Kayaking is superb as there are many coves to explore and the lake is often as smooth as glass. The owner has left many books of local interest, as well as nature books and also some DVD's. These come in handy on those cool rainy days when you just want to cozy up by the warm fireplace. It's also dog friendly, my golden retriever Casey never gets enough of the place. I definately recommend this rental to anyone and plan to return in the years to come.

Great set-up and location, quiet and comfortable

Me, my husband and my greyhound just spent a week at this house and had a fabulous time. Communication with the owner was excellent beforehand, and he was great about answering all of my nit-picky questions.

The location is perfect, very far from the main road. There are some other houses in close proximity, but the pond is very underpopulated...there are maybe 6 houses on the entire pond. Most people are swimming, kayaking, canoeing and fishing on the pond...only one small motor boat the entire time we were there. It's a 20 minute drive to Damariscotta where you can do all of your grocery shopping, fish buying, ice cream eating, and more. We also took the 50 minute drive to Camden which was a nice day trip. Kayaks are provided and at 3 miles long, it's easy to explore the entire pond. We couldn't find any life-jackets, so I'm not sure if those are provided.

Furnishings are simple and clean. All of the amenities we needed were provided: gas grill, pots, pans, microwave, toaster, sheets, etc. The tv gets no reception, so bring some DVD's, books, and music for entertainment.

Bring a lot of bug spray!!! Near the house it's not very bad, but if you have to get up at 6am and walk the dog, you will be eaten alive!

Cottage at Dyer Long Pond is the Best

I'm been staying at this cottage every summer for the last 4 years and hope to be back again next summer. This is a little slice of heaven.

It's quiet, rustic and beautiful, but with all of the amenities a city-dweller needs to be comfortable.

The newest owner is very nice and always professional. A pleasure to deal with.

The nearby towns offer much to do and locals are extremely helpful and welcoming. You'll start to think about moving up there before the week is out.

By far the best thing about this place is the lake itself. It's pristine. You spend hours swimming or canoing about and never tire of it.

As a final thought, I'm disabled and use a cane or walker to get around. I have no trouble navigating the cabin or the incline into the lake.

Caroline, a happy renter
