Wow, Wow, Wow - Luxury in Virginia

Review Submitted: October 2, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
The house is out of this world! We approached Luray from the Newmarket side so did not see the house until we actually turned left across the junction and then left on to the drive up to the house - we couldn't wait to get inside! Although we had seen the pictures on the internet they didn't show just how spectacular the house really is. We are three couples from Kent, England - all the wrong side of 55 and were just dashing round looking at everything, opening doors exclaiming "look at this" "oh my goodness" etc. It felt like a scene from Extreme Makeover and we half expected Ty Pennington to pop out from somewhere!
We normally eat out whilst on vacation but the house was so lovely we wanted to be there in the luxurious surroundings. We had a couple of BBQs - an added bonus. We enjoyed the privacy of a bathroom each - we all now want a Jacuzzi bath! Oh yes - mustn't forget the 72" TV!!! The beds were so comfortable we all wanted to ship them home. The linens and decor very tasteful. The kitchen - full of gadgets, everything you need. After all that, we haven't mentioned the views - breathtaking!

Kelli was extremely helpful with our booking and we exchanged several e-mails where, she answered all our questions about the area and gave links to information websites and even tips for our stay in DC a couple of days before our arrival at Stoneridge.

What a wonderful spot - it must be the envy of all who pass by. Perfect for the Skyline Drive, which we drove from one end to the other. We visited the Luray Caverns, the Museum at Newmarket (very moving). Luray itself, very quaint and the folks in the visitor centre very helpful. They recommended stopping by a little general store on our way to Lake Arrowhead for a sandwich - all freshly made for us and we spent some leisurely time at the lake. We also visited Shenandoah, Harrisonburg and Staunton. All within easy distance of Stoneridge.

We thoroughly recommend this vacation home - you won't want to leave!
Owner's Response: We will continue to maintain the highest standards, as guests would expect from this type of vacation property. Your group was delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed corresponding with you. We hope you will keep Stone Ridge Manor in mind, should you decide to vacation in Virginia again. Thank you!

Breathtaking View

Review Submitted: August 10, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our family recently stayed at Stone Ridge Manor. The house is situated on a hilltop with a spectacular view! The cows in the back were a pleasant surprise for the children also. The house is as beautiful inside as it is on the outside. Everything in the home is well maintained and the bathrooms are huge. The extra large television was a big hit with everyone.
The children really enjoyed the picnic at nearby Lake Arrowhead. There is a small beach area and paddle boats at the lake. We also rented a raft for a slow, lazy ride down the Shennadoah River. But the big hit with everyone was Luray Caverns. We planned our arrival at the cavern for late in the day. We took the last tour of the day and it worked out very nicely. We took our time and did not feel rushed or pushed from people behind us. Everyone had a great time.
I would recommend this location and home for a multi-family outing such as a family reunion or perhaps for a holiday.

A memorable family weekend

JMU mom and dad Suffolk, Virginia
Review Submitted: May 19, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
It is impossible to capture the beauty of Stone Ridge Manor in a series of pictures, or descriptions on a website; nonetheless, I will attempt to describe this beautiful home, the surroundings, and our wonderful weekend.

We had family travel from New York, Maryland and Southern Virginia to gather at Stone Ridge Manor to celebrate our son's graduation from James Madison University. After many attempts to find accommodations for a large group closer to the campus, I gave up, and fortunately, I looked a little further, and found this spacious, comfortable home. We had plenty of space for seven adults, and two children to sleep comfortably, rest and relax, and on Friday, and Saturday night we were joined by our son, and some of his friends for graduation celebrations.

A beautiful sunrise greeted us on Saturday morning, which set the stage for graduation day. Initially, we had dinner reservations in Harrisonburg, but we collectively agreed we wanted to return to Stone Ridge Manor for the evening, so we cancelled our reservation and returned to our "home away from home." The spacious accommodations allowed everyone the opportunity to rest comfortably (after our very early wake up call) until the graduate and his girlfriend joined us later that day for dinner, and continued celebration of his accomplishments.

Sunday morning ~ Mother's Day ~ Three generations gathered in this beautiful home! What a perfect way to end an amazing weekend. The men navigated the well-stocked kitchen to make us a wonderful breakfast, which was shared by four moms (2 grandmoms) before we headed our separate ways.

We would wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone interested in vacationing in a luxurious home, surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. In fact, we collectively decided that if our second child attends JMU, we hope to stay in Stone Ridge Manor during our visits to the campus.

Kelli, thank you for making our stay in your beautiful home effortless, and thoroughly enjoyable. The prompt and attentive contacts from you showed us that you were interested in helping us have an enjoyable stay at Stone Ridge Manor.

Stone Ridge Manor holiday

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely, spacious home.

Tghe house is in a commanding position with stunning views in both directions accross the mountains. It is an excellent place to stay to explore the Shennandoah valley and beyond. There are wonderful vineyards to visit as well as historic places, caverns, the Frontier Museum and very much more.

The house has very good accomodation with massive rooms, delightfully decorated. The TV screen is very large - so quite a novelty for us English visitors.

The description of the house does not do it justice - a great place to stay.

Living luxuriously in Luray

Review Submitted: August 18, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Our stay can be summed up by quoting our children,"Thanks for the best vacation we've ever had!", which speaks volumns given the fact that all our children are teenagers.

The accommodations were expectional, with elegant decor throughout. Every bedroom had an attached bath (three had a jacuzzi) which allowed for privacy for each family member. The firrst and second floor each had seperate family rooms and decks. The first night our family "star gazed" from atop the second floor deck. It was incredible!!! Most mornings we had coffee on the first floor deck while watching the cows graze close by on our own mountaintop estate!! (If only for 6 days)

We had many excursions close by which kept us busy every day. We went horsback riding 15 miles away , rented bikes in town and biked to Lake Arrowhead for a really fun and adventurous ride of 10 miles. We also visited the Luray Caverns and had an afternnoon meal at "Uncle Bucks" in town just minutes away. We drove Skyline Dr. two nights and both times saw bear. We even got it on video. On the way home we stopped at Yogi Bear Campsite and we played putt-putt golf.

It was a wonderful end to the summer as we headed back to Ohio, while our son departed for Libery College in Lynchburg.

We would highly recommend this beautiful estate for anyone desiring lavish accomodations with breathtaking views from every window.

The owners were easy to communicate with, quickly responding to our every question, and proving links on the internet that were of great value as we planned a most special event for our family. Many memories were made and will be forever in our hearts!!

Thanks to Kelli and Traci
Sincerely, Bill, Francine, Max, Natalie and Alison
Owner's Response: Thank you so much! We continue to make a priority of providing quality accommodations and exceptional service to our guests. We are thilled that you enjoyed your stay at Stone Ridge Manor!

Stone Ridge Manor looks beautiful on the website, but the pictures are just a fraction of what this home has to offer. Spectacular views everywhere you look, while in or outside of the house. Spacious rooms and Bedroom suites tastefully decorated and maintained, the amenities are unbelievably numerous. Having the Internet service available is an extra plus and cell phones worked inside the home with no problem. Just watching the cows graze in the field from the screened-in porch truly gives you a feeling of contentment and relaxation. Luray Caverns, Luray Zoo, Skyline Drive, shopping etc. are all in this area. It must also be mentioned that any inquiries we had were promptly addressed by the Owners which shows us the care and concern they have for their Guests. We stayed for a 1 week summer vacation and had wished we could have stayed longer. If you’ve been surfing the net and looking for a really nice place to stay, look no further - this IS the place you want, it’s like a little piece of Heaven in Luray, VA.
Owner's Response: We are always so excited to hear what our guests have to say. It's so nice that others have the same appreciation for Stone Ridge Manor (and the accompanying scenery) as we do. Thank you and come back any time!

Perfect Surprise Birthday Present

Birthday Present Baltimore, Maryland
Review Submitted: February 14, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
Denise & Shawn - I decided to rent a home to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday. I wanted it to be special for him and something that would stay with him for a lifetime. I fell in LOVE with this house the very first time I saw it on the internet. I was soon emailing the link to everyone I knew to ask how they felt about it even though his response would be the most important to me. Everyone loved it! The pictures on the internet do not come close to the way this house completely blew us away. The property is very clean and very well maintained. The interior design is to die for, and the layout is exceptional. He was so impressed with the layout, color combinations, exceptionally large bedrooms with jacuzzi baths, and the 72" TV that I could not get him to leave at all. We walked in on Sunday and he did not leave out until Wednesday when our time was up. I was so happy that he thought this was the best Biirthday present I could have given him and he has already told me that we must return soon. As he stated "this is definitely a house and I love everything about it". Kelli is a great person to work with and she made everything run so smoothly. I found myself emailing her frequently and she always responded promptly. I am also trying to get all of my friends to have the same experience we did by renting this beautiful house. Kelli, thanks again for making this day so special for Shawn and we will definitely be repeat customers! Thanks for everything. Denise
Owner's Response: Denise,
It was so much fun to have you and Shawn as guests! I am so happy that you are as enthusiastic about the estate as we are. Thank you for the kind words. We will always maintain the high standards that you would expect when vacationing at this type of property. We look forward to your next visit and hope to accommodate some of your friends as well!
-Kelli

Luxury Estate in Luray, Virginia

Marty & Laura Maryland
Review Submitted: January 15, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2007
We enjoyed our family get together in your beautiful home! The house looked amazing sitting on top of the hill, as we drove up the driveway. We especially loved how much living space was available, the upper level family room, each bedroom with its own bathroom, the huge master bathroom, the 72 inch screen tv in the main family area and being greeted by cows in close proximity as we drank our morning coffee. The location was a short drive to Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive and antique shops in downtown Luray. We were planning to go skiing at Massanutten or Bryce Resorts if there was snow, but instead the whole family had a wonderful time at Massanutten's Water Park. Thank you for a peaceful family getaway.
