Wonderful Condo - Helpful Owner!!

Eric & Ginny Florida
Review Submitted: October 12, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The condo's location was, as stated, close to the the National Mall, grocery shopping (Safeway), and the Metro. I brought it up on Google Earth and noticed the close proximity of the freeway and was a bit worried it would be noisy this, however, was not a problem it was very quiet we slept like logs in the comfortable beds. During the weekdays we took advantage of the "Shuttle Bug", who's driver we got to know. He dropped us right out in front of the condo!
Along with the timely mailing of the keys the owner provided us with a well thought out packet of info on D.C. The property had everything we needed to cook with and past tenets left some condiments and cereal which was helpful.
We heartily recommend this property to anyone traveling to Washington D.C..

Excellent Accommodations

The condo was as described. It was spotless, spacious, and well stocked. We were very comfortable there.

The location was great for sightseeing. We used the Federal Center SW metro stop most of the time, and the Waterfront stop was also accessible. We used the Shuttlebug neighborhood shuttle once as well (from Waterfront metro to the condo), which was very nice after a long day of sightseeing. We walked to the Air and Space museum which is just 4-5 blocks away.

In the immediate area, other than the Safeway and CVS, there was a Potbelly near the Federal Center Metro, as well as a Starbucks and another sandwich shop. There's a Marriott Residence Inn at E and 3rd that has a gift shop where you can get snacks as well as beer and wine. We had dinner at Cantina Marina on the waterfront. The location was nice, but the food was pretty lousy. I'd recommend it for drinks but eat somewhere else. We went farther afield for most meals. I'd recommend Founding Farmers for a nicer meal.

As far as attractions, you can get pretty much anywhere using the Metro. We never needed a car.

If I ever go back to DC for an extended stay, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Great location and value!

Everything was just as described. Very well maintained, very clean and quiet, and well supplied so that the first thing we could do was sightsee and not have to go shopping to stock the condo. The location was just perfect for our needs, close enough to the Mall, Capitol and Metro stations to easily walk. We did not need to rent a car anytime during our week there.

The beds were so comfortable that our only problem was getting-up in the mornings.

Overall a great value.

Great Rental

We spent Thanksgiving week at this townhouse and I have to agree with the last person, it is exactly as described. The area is quiet and the Metro is easily accessible. We cooked a couple of meals during the week (not Thanksgiving dinner) and all untensils needed were available. It is a very comfortable place to stay. The bonus was the parking spot!

Exactly as Advertised

My wife and I stayed in the condo for two weeks. Our adult daughter, joining us for one week, stayed in the second bedroom. The condo was clean, nicely appointed and well maintained (not mentioned was the hair dryer in the main bathroom and the clothes dryer). The only glitch was a balky furnace (which was remedied by a sharp rap on the main gas valve body) . . . and the owner was very responsive to our earlier call for help.

The Kennedy Center tour was not worth our time, because of an uninformed docent with limited access; however, that was the only dud. We wished we could have spent more time at the Newseum. We loved the Old Ebbet restaurant for their exceptional breakfasts.

The Metro is intuitive, easy to use. Gettysburg, Alexandria, Williamsburg, Arlington, Monticello and Mount Vernon are all in easy driving distances (bring your GPS).

It is well worth contacting your Representative before coming to DC to prearrange tours to the White House, the Capitol, Bureau of Printing & Engraving, etc. They are all free. Washington is the equal of any European capital. Plus, the people are friendly and helpful.

A Part of the Washington Scene

We had a great time in the townhouse! It's an easy walk to many of the sites and we really felt like we were natives. Although the Metro is within walking distance, we preferred to hoof it. The townhouse was furnished well and the only downside, which is typical of a townhome, is that it has lots of stairs. Everything was in great condition and the area was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Fabulous Communication

The rental was clean and well put together. The high speed internet was a nice bonus but the thing that REALLY impressed me was when we had a small problem with the front door lock. We called the owner and she had it fixed before we even came back from sight seeing!!! She was on top of everything and that showed how well the place is maintained... I will definately rent again.

This is a great property. I stayed here for a month in Jan/Feb 2008. We found the location to be perfect, with a short walk to the Federal Center SW Metro station (there is a shortcut behind the Market Inn). We always felt safe. Olga handles all the details well via e-mail. The townhouse has everything you would need. The floors, walls, linens, kitchen items, bathrooms, etc. all have an updated feel. Very tastefully done. I would return without question. Not quite as easy when my 13-month old visited due to two flights of stairs!
