A Labor Day Weekend Spent in Heaven!

This is the perfect house for families, don't look any further!!! It was after much time and research trying to find the perfect house to accomodate the FIVE teenagers accompanying us on our Labor Day trip that we picked Gary's 'Dream Lake' house. We couldn't have been more pleased! The listing description is accurate, the home is very clean, comfortable, spacious and family-friendly. It came equipped with ample ammenities to accomodate our large group of 12. We felt so relaxed our entire stay. We had everything we could want, short of a hot tub! Hint, hint, Gary! The property management group and the home owner,Gary, were so easy to work with. Thank you all for taking such good care of us and making our trip a piece of cake to coordinate! This was my family's first time to Colorado and RMNP. All their suggestions really paid off, they have the "inside scoop" on Estes and RMNP! We went to Sweet Basillico's to eat our first evening there. They have a lovely outdoor deck and covered dining area built right by a stream. I highly recommend this restaurant for its atmosphere, excellent customer service and great food(: We had a blast walking downtown Estes Park, popping into the coffee houses and shops. The Stanley Hotel is beautiful and offers a fun ghost tour. It has a nice bar and restaurant too. Our hikes to Ouzal Falls, Bear Lake, Flat Top Mountain and Long's Peak were nothing short of amazing. Unparrelled beauty. We also enjoyed a drive along Trail Ridge Road, enjoying the views and stopping at the Alpine Visitor's Center to shop and sight see. We went on a two-hour trail ride from Sombrero Ranch up into the mountains. This was SO much fun and our guides took excellent care of us. The home's huge, movie screen/tv in the basement was such a luxury after our long days of hiking and sight seeing. It was a big hit with the kids to play Wii on! We all enjoyed the ease of this home's close location to the park and downtown, yet it couldn't have been built in a more lovely spot for its mountain and lake views. We sat out on its deck every chance we got. The views from the deck, especially at sunrise, are positively majestic....the sun rising over Mary's Lake, the cool mountain air, the herds of mule deer and elk grazing just below....it just fills your heart and soul with its beauty...we can't wait to go back. We fell in love with RMNP and Estes, everyone must experience this heavenly place atleast once! Thank you, Gary and staff, for all the memories!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review!
You spent a good deal of your time in Rocky Mountain National Park,
which is the "real" attraction up here with its awesome natural beauty. We are lucky to have a location that makes it very easy to get to the Park or to town.
You and your family had a wonderful vacation and I hope you can make it back. I am considering a hot tub with your suggestion for the future.
Thanks,
Gary

It was PERFECT!!! We had a few friends over at Gary's home over the weekend for my husband's 30th birthday. It was everything that Gary promised and much more. The house was stocked with more than what you could possibly imagine. It is in the perfect location too; from downtown Estes park, not too secluded into the mountains yet get to enjoy the mountains. And the porch faces into the mountains with no one to bother you. The house itself is very warm & cozy, in addition it is well equipped with projector, xbox, many games, movies & books. The deer come by the house and look up the porch for some treats; they love fruits. Our friends luved the place too, it was a memorable weekend.

A Dream Vacation in a Dream House

It's our last night of a wonderful week! This has been our 45th anniversary vacation and it couldn't have been better. We had family meet us here from California and come up from Colorado Springs- they all thought they were in heaven!! This house feels like home. This is our third stay here and each time gets better. It truly felt like coming home and even nicer than we remember it. The owners take wonderful care of their home, so you can relax and know that whatever you want you will find in this kitchen and home. We had great weather- snow, sun, cold and really warm- perfect. I slept like a baby every night listening to the wind in the pines!! We're sad our week is coming to an end, but we'll be back!!

We had a great time on our 'girl weekend' retreat - it was a great space for our group. The cabin was very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The owner answered our questions about cabin and Estes area promptly and was so helpful and thoughtful. The views from the windows/deck were inspiring! And the wildlife so intriguing! We saw elk, deer, a bobcat, bunnies, and turkies. The owner was so thoughtful and helpful, it was a joy to work with him!

It was the perfect getaway...we'll be coming back! Thank you!

Cozy, clean and quiet

A true home away from home with every amenity imaginable. Ask if they've got it before you over-pack! This is a large, very clean and comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood. Just a few homes on a no-thru street. No traffic. This was our first time to Estes and WOW, wildlife everywhere! In just 3 days we saw turkey, deer, a huge 6 x 6 bull elk and a bobcat waiting at a drainpipe for a chipmunk to come out and play (this was all in the yard of this home!). We love to bird watch and the owner had snacks for the birds and a birdbook to help identify new (to us) species. The entertainment selection is incredible. A catalog of hundreds of movies and even a real movie screen with overhead projector! The location is perfect as well, just 10 min from everything, shops & restaurants in town, beautiful views, the Park, and trails/roads to everywhere. The owner understands how precious your vacation is and provides as much information curtailed to your needs as you ask for. You won't be disappointed, a great retreat!

Dream Lake

Dream Lake is a large comfortable vacation home in Estes Park....a truly "back to the '50s" small town that just happens to be the gateway to the RMNP...a perfect place for families with folks of all ages. The house is large, easy to live in with every amenity possible. Gary Peak is the perfect owner/host. He really does want his guests to be content and then some!
The wrap around decks, abundant grills and cooking gear make Colorado living easy. Fishing poles, snow saucers, volleyballs...everything is there. For the parents of babes, have no worries...Gary has it all: port-a-cribs,linens, high chair, toys, etc. ..all washed in Dreft and ready to go. For the teens there are Wiis, huge tv screens, games, etc. and for the rest of us there are rockers, views and hikes.

Mary's Lake is 5 minutes away and is the perfect place for beginning fisher folk..be it casting or fly fishing...also the wild life show ups every evening to graze and sip water. Wild life also shows up in the yard: deer, wild turkeys, chipmunk, and the like.

Enjoy!

Wonderful Week

We were two families with 4 teenagers and had a wonderful stay at this home. Everything was there for us to use so we didn't need to buy or pack alot of things like spices, fishing gear, etc. We even inquired as to whether or not Gary had a cooler at the house and he went and bought one for the house so we could use it. The location was wonderful to get to RMNP or to get out of town without having to drive through downtown Estes. The wildlife at the house was great to watch too. The downstairs living area is a teenagers dream come true. Thank you for a wonderful week! The pictures on the website are very representative of the house!

My family of 8 adults and five children were thrilled with the house. It was comfortable, spacious and equipped with everything we needed! We enjoyed the deck where we could see deer, turkey, and the hummingbirds. Gary was very attentive before and during our stay. The location to RMNP cant be beat. We would recommend this property to anyone and hope to return in the future!

We were there to celebrate my parents 50h wedding anniversary and the 12 of us had a great time. My sister and brother-in-law had never been to Colorado. Their hearts were won over. The biggest excitement half of us were seeing a bear next door. My husband and family have been to Estes many times and we have never seen a bear until this week. The host was great to work with and the house was very easy to stay at. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was supplied with everything you would need! Also, with all the different kinds of entertainment the house provides the kids didn't get bored at all and even the adults had some fun! Thanks for a great week for us! I would recommend this place to everyone!

Family Vacation

This was our first vacation with all of our kids, grandkids and my mom. Five family units under one roof for one week! There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out and be comfortable. The house is well equipped with anything you could want in the kitchen, bathrooms and sleeping areas. Grandkids LOVED the theater screen for playing games -- Kids (young and old) enjoyed the movies. Everyone's favorite part was the deck. We ate out there, played games, watched the humming birds and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery! Having the deer come right up to the house was a special treat. Fishing in Mary's Lake, Estes Lake and the rivers and streams nearby was fun for everyone. We hiked, enjoyed several picnics, shopped and just hung out. The location was perfect -- just a few minutes to Estes Park or RMNP yet a very private setting. Gary was very accessible throughout the whole process -- hope to come again.
