A Great Getaway

My family just returned from renting the Chalet for a week. We had 10 adults and four children (age 10 mos. to 10 years) in our group, and everyone had a wonderful time. The fishing in the lake is beyond anything we've seen. Everyone who fished caught huge bass, perch, and pickerel. Definitely rent the boats, especially the pontoon, which provided lovely family cruises on the lake. The home is gorgeous and well-maintained, with plenty of room--it's even more spacious and beautiful than the pictures represent. Even on rainy days, the game room entertained the kids.I would recommend this rental to anyone without hesitation. You'll have a wonderful, memorable time.

Just returned from a wonderful, memorable vacation. 3 families enjoyed the comfort of this house. Had a total of 19. 6 adults, 13 kids (ages 10-18), + 1 dog. House included enough dock space for our 3 boats. All of us can't find ONE bad thing to say about this beautiful, well maintained house located right on the lake. The gameroom was perfect during our one day of rain. Lake is full of white perch, everyone caught lots of fish. Took a few day trips to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor & Booth Bay. Great house location, close to the coast, yet really secluded. The night sky was breathtaking - millions of stars! We all hated to come home.

Our group of five families (10 adults and 11 kids,
ranging in age from 3-11) had a FABULOUS time at
this wonderful house. The location is terrific, the
house is so comfortable and well-appointed, and it
was great for us all. We've been vacationing
together for almost 20 years, and this is probably
the best rental we've ever had. Can't wait to return.

We recently rented this chalet with the whole family to celebrate a special family event and had a wonderful time. There were 17 of us in all ranging from age 3 to age 76. The house was comfortable, clean and spacious, and the large kitchen and great room were a welcome focal point. It was the perfect location for our family affair and there was something for everyone to do. We particularly appreciated all of the well stocked activities to keep children, young and old, busy, including playground, tetherball, basketball, volleyball, swimming, waterslide, canoes, kayaks, fishing or just lounging on the decks or the floating dock. The game room, complete with old fashioned pinball machines, was the highlight of our evenings, with alot of good natured family competition occurring in fooseball, airhockey and ping pong. The local area was also perfect for biking and we found decent tennis courts nearby. It was like camp, but on a family sized scale. its not fancy, there are mosquitos and flies and you are in the middle of nowhere. But for a big family or group looking to spend an active week together in a private lakefront location, this is a great place.

We enjoyed our stay at the Wayne chalet immensely and our large delegation hailing from California to Massachusetts seemed to be in full agreement. The accomodations were as represented and we had a wonderful family vacation with our children and grandchildren. We may not make it next year due to family commitments but plan to return to the chalet in the future. Wayne & Winthrop are small but friendly towns. The ice cream store in Wayne is as good as anywhere in the land. We could use a Tubby's in our community.

We had the best family reunion vacation here in August 2005, with 8 adults and 7 kids arriving from MA, CT and even CA. The home was large enough to accommodate our group and very nice, with good amenities (including Direct TV, DVD and game room) - but very casual and not fancy or upscale. Don't overpack - you'll be wearing shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits and sandals mostly. The lake is good for swimmming, boating and fishing. Lots of good size bass and a few pickerel were caught near the small island toward the center of the lake. There is a small launch area at the opposite end of the lake if you bring your own boat (my brother, the bass fisherman, did this). We used the kayaks and canoes several times every day and saw loons, herons, turtles, etc. Very few other boats were on the lake, even on weekends. The playground area was fun for our 6-year-old and the older kids enjoyed whiffle ball games in the yard area above the home. There is a fire pit near the water's edge for the kids to roast marshmallows at night. Bugs were almost non-existent this summer due to weather (hotter and dryer than normal). We went into Winthrop for grocery shopping and Wayne for amazing Tubby's ice cream. There's not a lot to do there, but that's the whole point...this is a place to relax and enjoy a throwback-style vacation and leave the stress behind. If you want to be entertained, pampered or scheduled by day and dine out every night, or if you need everything to be perfect, this is not the Ritz Carlton. If you want your family and kids to relax and spend quality time together the old-fashion way - in a beautiful, safe and wholesome setting - this is the place to do it. I would definitely go back.

This was our second year in Wayne with the whole(!)
family. It was a pleasure to return to such a well
maintained property. The lake is beautiful with
plenty to do for everyone. Even with so many
people you can still find a quiet spot in and around
the house for a little solitude. Joey and his wife are
wonderful and feel like part of the family! We'll
definitely be back.

Second straight year that we have held our family reunion on Wilson Pond. Wonderful time at a great home. 17 people ranging in age from 3 yrs. old to 75 yrs. old. Plenty to do for all. Lots of kayaking & canoeing on a lake that is peaceful and calm. Fishing was great off the dock and in the boat. Lots of bass caught (large and smallmouth). Home is very large and extremely comfortable for big groups. Game room (ping pong, air hockey, bumper pool, foosball and pinball) a big hit with the kids (and the adults). Local couple takes care of the home. Very nice people and helpful with questions, tips, etc. No negative comments -- we'll be back. If you're looking for the hustle and bustle of a big city, this isn't your place. If you want a beautiful peaceful setting with plenty of great family activities, this home is perfect.

A truly beautiful vacation getaway place and a real value. Hard to describe such a find as this tucked into the solitude of the Maine woods. The house is beautiful and spacious for our family. The kayaks allowed us to explore the lake. Wilson Pond is a clean lake perfect for fishing and swimming. We'll be back!!
