Honeymoon at Cove Cottage

Submitted: September 30, 2009 Stayed: September 2009
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Cove Cottage last month. We had the most relaxing experience. Cove Cottages is beautifully docorated, has ample space, a sprawling lawn, amazing view, and every amenity one could need.
Since our return we have told our friends and relatives that they too must visit Cove Cottage. The town of Wickford is quaint and friendly. Newport and Jamestown are just a 10minute drive away and the whole South Country of RI is at your fingertips. One week at Cove Cottage and your spirit will be completely renewed.

From the moment we parked outside Cove Cottage we knew we were going to be happy. Linda met us at the gate with a smile and greeting. She opened the solid barn door,( original?) and ushered us inside. Everything was as described in the advertisement, comfortable and clean. Linda took great care to ensure we had everything we required and to give ideas of activities in the town. The town of Wickford is a charming village with great seafood. Linda made suggestions as to where to buy it and we have to agree the lobster is the best we've tasted.
Linda was a great hostess, not intrusive but there when we needed anything. Her cottage is lovely, we would certainly stay there again.

Greatest Romantic Getaway!

My husband and I absolutely loved our trip to Rhode Island. Our cottage was both charming and in the perfect location right on a cove. Therefore, we didn't have to even venture to the crowded beach to enjoy the water. We sat many hours taking in the gorgeous surroundings while sipping our cocktails, soaking up some rays, and even napping under the shade tree. We were also able to enjoy watching all the wildlife with nearby habitats and went kayaking around all the coves in the Wickford area. There was so much to do within a 15 - 20 minute drive, including touring the Newport mansions, taking time to take in the one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen, Beavertail State park, taking the train to Boston and of course taking in a game at Fenway Park. Our hosts, David and Linda were a true delight and were so helpful with giving us information about great places to visit and see. We won't be taking a trip for quite sometime but when we are able to, we would love to bring our children to see this amazing place someday.

Perfect Seaside Getaway

5 of 5
Submitted: June 19, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
Cove Cottage was exactly as described and more. Although snug, it was perfect for my family of three. Among the highlights: super comfy mattress in master bedroom; beautiful vistas from private patio and kitchen; 2 minute walk to restaurants, shops, marinas, etc.; and more immaculate than the finest hotel.

We enjoyed grilling fresh fish from Gardner's most nights and dined al fresco. We never ran out of clean towels or hot water; the kitchen has better appliances than I have at home; and despite its proximity to the main street, we seldom heard any street noise.

Linda was a gracious hostess who made our first visit to South County an absolute pleasure.

Besides just relaxing on the patio with our newspapers and books, we admired the historic homes in the neighborhood, took a sunset kayak tour of Wickford Harbor (Kayak Center is 2 minute walk from cottage), spent hours at the unbelievably beautiful Beavertail State Park (25 minute drive to Jamestown), and ate at Matunuck Oyster Bar (so fabulous, you must try it!), in South Kingstown (35 minute drive from cottage). Lobster rolls at nearby Beach Rose and Tavern by the Sea were tasty, but service at the Tavern was barely acceptable.

All in all, we had a great time and definitely recommend Cove Cottage and Linda Piedra.

With 35 all-star reviews before us and all reflecting our own experience, there is not much more to add. Owner Linda is one of the most gracious, kind, attentive people we have ever encountered in all our travels. You arrive as her guest and leave as her friend. The "Cottage" itself is everything as advertised. Looking forward to a return visit.

Wonderful Cove Cottage!

My husband and I spent nearly two weeks here in September. What a perfect location - 1/2 block from Wickford's shops and restaurants and a short drive to so many attractive towns: Jamestown, Newport, Narragansett, Point Judith. Our favorite spot was sitting on the boulders by the ocean at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown. The cottage itself is charming - I loved the kitchen! The website photos give you a good idea of what it looks like. Linda is a wonderful hostess - she did not intrude but was always available if we needed help. We hope to return for a future stay.

This property is lovely, tastefully decorated and well maintained. The owner is welcoming and helpful. We especially loved the brick patio and view of the cove. Each room is comfortable and serene due to the careful choice of colors, textures and light. This is a perfect setting for a vacation and we look forward to returning.

Peaceful and Restful Setting

Submitted: August 23, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
Barb , Derek and I want to thank you for offering such a peaceful and restful setting .
The convenience of the cottage to everything in Wickford is great.
It was so convenient to go to pastry shop a few blocks away and get coffee and paper early in AM, evening strolls around the town and especially the live music at the cove dock area.
This is first vacation. I ever took time to read 4 newspapers in the every AM and take a 2 `1/2 hour nap under the pine near the water almost every day.
Derek and I enjoyed the kayaking on the cove and pond behind while watching the waterfowl of all kinds as we paddled along. So peaceful
The cottage is outstanding inside and out. You have thought of everything that you might want or need.
Did not get in the car too much except to visit our favorite spots:: Aunt Carrie’s, Narragansett Beach, Jamestown Island –Beaver tail and of course “the Black Pearl” –Bowens Wharf in Newport.
When we lived in East Greenwich, RI, we knew and experienced Wickford as an excellent quaint town, but it has really improved over the years.
Tell sam hello and give him a kiss.
We will be back and hopefully soon.
Thanks again.

Wickford Cove Cottage

Our family rented Cove Cottage for the last week in May. Although we had seen picturs on line, we weren't quite sure what to expect. It was even better than we had hoped. We felt it was reasonably priced, especially after checking out other properties. There were 4 of us, so 2 bedromms and 1 1/2 baths were sufficient. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities, including a microwave and coffee maker. The washer/dryer came in handy. There's a TV with a DVD player, so we were able to watch movies at night.
Linda was extremely helpful throughout. When we were considering renting, she answered all our questions. She sent us links to sites for restaurants and places of interest, and made us aware of Groupon offers in the area. When we arrived, she explained everything, left us a loaf of delicous bread from a local bakery, then basically left us alone (although she was available if we needed something).
Wickford Village is quaint. You can walk into the village in about 5 minutes. There are a few places to eat and some neat little shops. The village is not really touristy. It's the type of place where you can relax. The location is ideal - about 20 minutes to Newport, 30 to Providence and maybe 45 to the southern beaches and the ferry to Block Island.
One afternoon we went to Beavertail State Park, on Jamestown Island. It's a neat place withscenic cliffs and WWII bunkers. One day we took the ferry to Block Island. We rented mopeds, drove around, stopped for a nice linch, then drove around more until we caught the ferry back. At the north point, we even saw seals. It was probably the best day of our vacation.
I think that our 19 year old son was hoping for something a little more exciting. He said that he wished he had brought his play station and some more books. Despite this, he had as good a time as the rest of us. The cottage is close to the center of the village. A couple of mornings we had traffic noise, but not excessively so. The worst problem we had was figuring out high and low tides so when we took out the kayaks, we could get undert the bridge and out into the bay.
All in all, we had a great vacation. We recommend Cove Cottage and Wickford Village, especially if you're looking for a place where you can really get away and relax.

Cove Cottage

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cove Cottage! Everything about the property the decor, the setting was beyond what the photos depict. The owner was close by and very helpful in providing for our comfort when the temperature suddenly rose and also in providing local information. I think that this rental would appeal to a variety of vacationers. Our twenty year old daughter loved being able to step out the door for a coffee or to browse in the dozens of unique shops in the village. We have family in the area and would definitely love to go back!
