Family Vacation

My family and my sisters family stayed at this property for a week. We were so excited on arrival we were happy it looked beautiful with a wonderful view. Well after that if got bad. There was leaks in the roof, the toilets were bad it would take anywhere from 3 to 5 flush just to get the toilet paper to go down. Then the hot tub smelled not sure if it wasn't cleaned proper or not. The front door was hard to open and hard to lock. There was broken boards on the deck. The house really needs some work not as clean as I would have expected. One of the video games didn't work that was listed on there as having. We had to go buy toilet paper and garbage bags as there was only one roll per bathroom. I tried once to call the owner at the numbers she had left on the paper to call if there was problems and there was no answer, I left a message and got no call back. When we got ready to leave I called again and left a message and got no return call. I also emailed the owner telling her some of the problems and got no return email or reponse.

Needs Maintenance

House was comfortable from an accomodation standpoint, but was poorly maintained and dirty. Communication with the owner was disappointing and failed to adequately address the concerns we had about the safety and cleanliness of the property. It has a lot of potential to be a great place and we had a good time while there, but were definitely distracted by issues like broken steps, toilet handle, curtain hardware, blinds and dirty counters, toilets, woodwork and shower curtain liners. Also the listing says it has wireless, but the contract specifically states that it might not work and it didn't, the arcade games don't work well, and there's no vacuum to clean the carpets during the week which is important when you have pets in the house.

On the postive side, we all fit comfortably in the space, we saw a bear visiting the property every night except one, as well as wild turkeys. It had a great view and was very convenient to Gatlinburg, Ober Gatlinburg, and the Nat'l Park.

Spectacular view and wonderful home

I almost don't know where to start. The house is great! We took our kids and grandkids here for New Years weekend. There is plenty of room for 18 people without feeling crowded. It is a house that you feel comfortable kicking your shoes off and relaxing. It isn't fancy and sterile, it feels like home. I would say to people with toddlers bring a baby gate or two for the stairs (we didn't even think about bringing one and spent a great deal of time keeping the 1 year old away from them but that was our fault).

I can't say enough about the view. We all thought that this house probably had about the best view of downtown than any of the houses around us. Until you see the view yourself, it is hard to explain but it is wonderful in the daylight when you can see the town and the mountains but at night it is even better (Maybe?) with all the lights twinkling across the mountains and the town is lit up. We all were out on the deck drinking coffee every morning before the kids woke up, just enjoying the peaceful, beautiful scenery. We also stayed home on New Years Eve, instead of joining the crowds downtown and even though I know the fireworks were probably better if you were standing under them, it was great from the deck because you have a great view of the space needle. The grandkids loved the hot tub I think even more than the adults did (maybe). Bring a corkscrew!! We had fun prying the cork from the bottle for a New Years toast.

Yes, they are mountain roads but to get the view, you have to drive on mountain roads. I would much rather drive 4 or 5 minutes up the mountain, have the great views and privacy, than be downtown crowded up - wall to wall people. It was so warm while we were there that they couldn't make snow at the ski resort but it didn't even matter (we could have drove over the mountain to Catalooche but no one even bothered to do so).

We were all sad to leave and would love to go back and stay in this house. I would recommend this house to any family who is looking for a house they aren't afraid to "live" in and of course you can't beat the price. We couldn't have afforded to take everyone and stay in a $600. per night house and now even if we could, we would go back to this house.

Fantastic way to spend Thanksgiving week!

Wow! This house is fantastic. We had 16 the first few days, 17 for the last few, and 19 for Thanksgiving dinner and never felt crowded. The narrow kitchen proved adequate (although the knives could have been sharper) and the fireplace was in constant use the whole week. The pool table was a big hit with everyone from the youngest, 7, to the oldest, 60-ish. The hot tub at night has a gorgeous view. We rarely left the house but when we did, town was just 10 minutes away. And yes, the road is windy and steep but you're climbing up to a mountain chalet with fantastic views, so what do you expect??!! Love the way the four bedrooms upstairs are situated on the curve with a bathroom for each pair. The downstairs deck was heavenly but it rained the first two days so we couldn't use the swing until it dried off. We didn't see any bear but did see a beautiful, huge buck. Overall, this place is FANTASTIC and we can't wait to come again. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A WONDERFUL VACATION

My mother and her four girls stayed 5 nights with our familys, a total of 18 people. There was plenty of room and the accomodations were excellent. The South Baden clubhouse was very close, and we saw several bears everyday. As for the road to the cabin we have vacationed many times in gatlinburg and the road to Dancing Bear was by far the easiest we have driven to. Our only regret is that we stayed only 5 nights! We will be returning and plan on extending our stay next time. The cabin was fun friendly and wonderful for such a big family gathering,we also felt we were close to all the attractions to enjoy a quick trip to the strips, and the pool at the clubhouse made it easy to enjoy the stay without spending extra money for those who didn't have a budget to be spend crazy. Thank You for such a wonderful time. Sincerly, Kandy

Very Nice Vacation Property

The chalet was ample room for our large family and there is plenty to do in the area. Was very charming and well equiped. The only problem we had was the roads were extremely hilly and some were very thin lanes. Once you get used to that it was fine.

Family Vacation

First time my family planned a vacation together. We enjoyed our stay as the cabin was roomy enough for 9 adults and 6 children. It was nice to all be in the same house together. Beautiful views of the smokies. Only complaint we had was that there should have been a description of the road that leads to the cabin. The road was very curvy and went straight up. Actually my brother and his wife stayed the first night then checked into a hotel for the remainder of our vacation because his wife was scared of the road. As for the rest of us we didnt like the road either but we didnt let it stop us from coming and going. Just wish that they would let customers know before hand. Due to the road and that we didnt want to have to drive it after dark we wouldnt stay here again. But if we knew that we were not going to be leaving cabin then yes we would stay again.

We loved the house. I was amazed that 5 adults and 4 children under the age of 10 could co-exist so well.

The floor plan really was good for us. We spent a lot of time in the great room just watching the fire and telling stories and the view must be 20 miles + a really good view of the town of Gatlinburg.

The hot tub and pool table were a big hit with everyone, too.

It is just a few minutes to Gatlinburg and we actually walked from the house into the National Park and found one of the hiking trails.

We definitely plan to us this place again.
