Well, this was like flipping through pages of a storybook from the moment we arrived!The photos can't describe the beauty of this place.Very unique,and directions were a breeze.I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking.Mr. Golden is a wonderful person, and thank you so much for keeping this property in the family. The dining table is beautiful,wonderful family meals we shared there.The property is clean and well maintained.The stairwell is awesome and a great place to take family photos.Plenty of dishes to go around but I would suggest more serving pieces, as we cooked up a storm every day! I found an antique tea cart in the pantry and placed it in the dining room for a dessert cart,perfect.
Great location for day trip to the National Park,or take a stroll along the old L&N trail,truly like stepping back in time.There was plenty of space for all eight of us.It is really breathtaking!You wont be disappointed! Would love to come back another time.Late in posting my review,sorry about that.

Beautiful Spacious Mountain Home

My family spent several days enjoying this beautiful home. The listing and pictures are very accurate. The home is huge- with many sitting rooms to relax and enjoy this peaceful setting. The kitchen is also very spacious with all amenities available to prepare meals. While the property is very private, there are several grocery stores and restaurants just 10 minutes down the highway. The owner, Jim, was quick to answer all my questions. Our 3 kids, ages 2, 5, and 8 played for hours in the front creek. My mother and father-in-law found the place to be wonderful as well. We took day trips and hikes to Pine Mountain State Resort Park and Cumberland Gap National Park- both were beautiful and well worth a visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to a family looking for a quiet getaway to the mountains.

An Idyllic Family Getaway

This spacious home is a HOME that makes you feel...well, at home. It is spacious and accomodating - everything you need is there, in the kitchen, paper products, etc... they even have a great selection of books to read! My husband and I have 2 children and we made a sort of apartment out of the room and bedroom adjacent to the dining room and were able to feel like we weren't waking the rest of the house... and there were plenty of places to hang out without having to tiptoe around. At one point, the 5 adults who were there, were all reading and napping in different parts of the house while the kids napped!
The swingset and sandbox are placed where the shade makes them perfect for kids and my 2 and 5 year old loved throwing rocks in the creek and wading in with their water shoes on! We never ran out of things to do - hiking the trails, exploring the creek, golfing at Wasioto Winds... it is the type of vacation that actually gives you the opportunity to relax, explore the woods and be with your family. My kids had so much fun.

Wonderful for the family!!

My family really enjoyed this vacation home from the beginning to the end. The home was clean and very roomy, all that we needed to cook was available to us. This place is very spacious for a nice size group. The owner even called to check to make sure every thing was ok. We loved sitting on the porch at night to watch the stars...priceless. We even walked the trails..with the friendly dogs. We even named them..We had no problems...just a nice quiet getaway that we needed. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Family Dream Stay

White Oak Lodge was everything we could have wanted. The pictures on the site looked nice, but so much more scenic in reality. Clear Creek babbled constantly. It was shallow enough for our young grandsons to play in safely. They so enjoyed the sandbox and swing set. Due to the size of the house, we were able to sleep in while the grandchildren played at the other end.
There was firewood cut and stacked for use in the fireplaces and at the fire ring. The kitchen had two stovetops and ovens, a pantry and a spacious refrigerator. Nicely stocked with all the appliances you would use in your own home.
The beds slept great. The sitting rooms were spread out and so inviting. The grandkids really liked the one that housed a TV for their DVD viewing, comfortable wrap around couch, bathroom, and access to the outside deck.
Access to supplies/groceries was great. Pineville for something quick, and Middlesboro for more shopping options.
My husband and I have rented several vacation homes the last few years, and this is the best one yet.

Relaxing retreat perfect for families

We spent a wonderfully relaxing Thanksgiving week at this peaceful retreat. This spacious home had plenty of room for our two families of four, with enough rooms that the kids could go off and play in their own space. We especially enjoyed gathering around the indoor fireplace each evening and even used the outdoor firepit a couple times. We had a nice long walk on the adjacent path (with tunnel!) to get some exercise after our turkey dinner, and we also took a day trip to nearby Cumberland Gap and the Appalachian Mountains. I highly recommend this beautiful and welcoming place for your next family getaway!

A place I would love to come back to...

The house was easy to find. The rooms were just like the photos except maybe better. The property was clean and well maintained. The owner was very helpful. I would highly recommend this for anyone who likes a quite peaceful place and still be close to golf, shopping, movies, walking,etc. There were nine of us and we all would stay here again. Actually one is already planning to come back with children and grandchildren who love to play golf !
