Heaven on Earth

BL/RF Holiday Fl.
Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We stayed for two full weeks and had the best time of any vacation we have taken. The amenities that come with the home are far more than one would expect. Every morning it was walk out the end of the dock and watch some of the most beautiful sunrises you could ask for. The pool is very inviting no matter what time of day it is. Insid the home it is as if you were in your own.You have the feeling of comfort as if you belong here. The owners have thought of almost everything. We were contacted a couple of times just to make sure we did not need anything. We had family come in from Berlin and they were very impreesed by what was offered to us for our stay. We met the neighbors and they were very helpful with info. on the area and good places to eat and for fresh seafoods at reasonable prices.
We would love to return and look forward to our next visit.
I don't think you can find anything around this area with a better value for your dollar spent.
The wife and her brother fished from the boat dock and had a fantastic time without even leaving the property. If you are looking for a central location close enough to Key West without the cost and congestion this is the place you need to be.We as a group (7 of us) would like to thank the owners for providing us with a dream stay.
I would also like to thank Homeaway for providing a very detailed and accurate website

Ideal location for total relaxation holiday

Taranna Coventry England
Review Submitted: September 6, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Sunrise Gateway House is an ideal holiday house for all types of vacationers. We travelled from England in mid to late August as a family of four and from the second we arrived until the second we left, the house had everything to make the ideal relaxing summer holiday. All ammenities were as described, but a website cannot do justice to the quality of the house nor the great views out over the Atlantic Ocean. Carolyn and Terry were very courteous and easy to deal with, and once in Marathon, if you needed anything, the feeling was that people were there to help you, but if you were happy to get on with it yourself, you had great privacy. Locally the area is made for ourdoor living. We loved the pool and bbq, but were able to arrange snorkelling, fishing, paragliding, swimming with dolphins etc.... all without travelling more than 10 miles. There is an abundance of places to eat from the fine dining of Butterfly Cafe, to the laid-back Wreck and Galley grill, with a massive selection in between, and we were delighted that the tropical storms and hurricanes which are always a risk in the Keys stayed away. We have stayed in many villa's, houses and good hotels throughout Europe and the US, and this would rank as the number 1 amongst them all........hope to be back next year!

Great Vacation Home

Julian and Julie Portsmouth, United Kingdom
Review Submitted: August 10, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
my wife, my two daughters and myself stayed at sunrise getaway house during week beginning July 25, 2009.
we can only describe the house as fantastic, the pool is brilliant and the view superb.
from the second we picked up the keys we had a fantastic holiday, visiting key west and the local beaches but best of all was swimming in the pool, fishing from the boat deck and just relaxing in the sun.
The local restaurants were good value with great food and publix supermarket is only 5 minutes drive away. we saw lots of wildlife including nurse sharks, land crabs and an iguana walking past the pool. it was also fun saving the odd happless crab which fell into the pool.
In the evening we had a glass of wine on the balcony and there was a tv in every room. all the rooms are spotless, spacious and nicely decorated.
this is also a great house and location for children of all ages, with plenty of things to keep the younger ones occupied.
we are now back in rainy old england and have only one complaint about our holiday at sunrise getaway house - we should should have stayed for two weeks not one!

Perfect Family Retreat

MoJules Joplin, MO
Review Submitted: August 7, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
We stayed at this beautiful home with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons. The house and all it's amenities made us feel like we were at home. The weather was cool while we were there in March 2009, but that didn't stop the boys from enjoying the heated pool and hot tub. It's central location made it ideal for all of our day trips to our favorite places to visit in the Keys.

Thanks Carolyn for sharing your beautiful home.

wonderful property

Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We were looking for a spacious, clean and newer rental to accomodate 4 adults and 4 teenage girls, family visiting from Europe that had not been to the Florida Keys yet. Prevoius rentals in Marathon were rather dissapointing but with this property we found exactly what we were hoping for.

There is nothing missing in this house, just bring yourself!
The landscaping is beautiful and offers many different seating areas everywhere. The property manager was very helpful and had someone there within minutes when we reported the pool was cloudy. From the minute we booked our week in Marathon, we received perfect communication and all questions answerd immediately.

We brought our jetski which we could launch at the Marathon public boatramp. During our stay the tide got really low in the afternoons, so we had to plan excursions early.
This is a wonderful place to relax, the numerous pictures on the website describe everything into detail and when
you arrive there, you will not be dissappointed!

Hopefully we can repeat this very relaxed family reunion sometime!

Better Than a Luxury Hotel!!

The Sunrise house that our family and friends stayed in the week of the 4th of July was totally amazing......the pictures in the website do not do justice. Holy cow, where do I begin? driving up towards the gate there were oohs and aahs!! then you see many tropical/exotic fruit trees such as mango, avocado, lime, banana and coconut trees...wow, the mango was yummeo!! the pool/oceanfront was fab and then you go inside the house....boy oh boy, what a treat! and don't bother to bring your own margarita blender cuz the owners Carolyn and Terry has that covered too...you guys sure did not leave anything out....love your hammock in the back!! there is no need to go anywhere once you arrive at "Sunrise Getaway"...although I think next time I will hire a private chef to do our cooking.....what the heck you only live once! Thank you Carolyn and Terry for having us in your awesome home..can't wait to come back next year.

Top Five Family Vacations

ISU Connecticut
Review Submitted: March 28, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Wow. What a great vacation house. The central Marathon location was perfect. The neighbors were friendly, the views from the house spectacular. We had our morning coffee on the dock, watching the sun rise from the morning clouds. We grilled out in the evenings watching the colors of the sunset light up the sky.
Good layout of the house, as the early morning risers had full access to kitchen and living room, while everyone else could sleep undisturbed. The property manager was extremely quick to resolve any issues (our pool became cloudy one day due to excessive use and sunscreen. The pool man was at our house almost immediately).

The only thing holding back an "excellent" rating is the following:.

TWO KING ROOM AND TWO TWIN ROOMS
One set of twin beds is plenty for a vacation house. A queen sized bed in the front upper bedroom would be perfect.

THE DREADED HUGE RENTAL HOUSE DISHWARE
Ugh. With our group of eight, someone was always doing the dishes, as it was difficult to load some of those monster glasses in the the dishwasher. IKEA, perhaps?

THE "KEEP QUIET" SIGNS POSTED EVERYWHERE
enough said...

If you rent this house you will be very pleased. Located at the end of a dead end street with little or no traffic. Marathon is a great location. Bahia Honda beach is a must do. The Crane Institute is a good three hour adventure. Key West is just an hour away. Or, like we did most days, just hang by the pool and let the day go by.
Thanks for a great week!!!

Paradise

Paradise...what can I say. From the first moment, we contacted Carolyn and Terry to the last day of our stay, they have been so prompt, professional and helpful. The house has everything you could ever need. The grounds are beautiful, it makes you feel like you have your own private oasis. (which you do) The bedrooms are all very spacious. There are plenty of towels, BIG beach towels, all the utensils, pots and pans that one could want, a wonderful frozen drink maker,,etc. There was not one thing that I felt was missing the entire week. It was by far the most relaxing vacation we have ever had. These are the memories we have taken from this week.... sitting in the hot tub, swimming in the beautiful pool, lounging on the pool floats, sitting under the palm trees reading a book, relaxing on the dock , breakfast by the water, grilling dinners by the pool, and the beauty of each sunrise every morning. We are so looking forward to returning to this magnificent gem next year . Our 11 year old daughter said, "I wish we could stay here forever!' Thank you Carolyn and Terry for sharing your beautiful oasis. We have many memories that will be cherished forever.

Awesome is how we describe the house, furnishings, pool, spa, view, hammock, sunrises, sunsets, fishing dock, and much, much more. Thank you for thinking of everything! Our grandchildren loved the pool, the sandy area by the ocean, fishing off the dock. What a treat for our family.
We will be back. We want to have this as our annual family trip! What a gem we found. Ron & Beth

Escaping a Chicago winter to a tropical paradise..

Relaxed at last... Northwest Indiana
Review Submitted: January 17, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
What an incredible vacation retreat, you will never want to leave this secluded property. This is by far the most beautiful house we have rented and the setting is everything as described and more. Right down to the Magaritaville drink maker, all the furnishings were first class and the landscaping magnificent.

It was the perfect house for two families travelling with our college age children. We spent hours by the pool and on the cool nights the jacuzzi was just what we needed to warm up with a tropical drink in hand.
