Our family had such a great time staying at Blacks Beach Retreat last spring that we've rented the house for another week this year. The pictures and online description of the property were very accurate, and we were pleasantly surprised to find the house was even more "stocked" with essentials than we had expected! The back patio is very private and a great place to relax (we loved that we could hear the waves crashing on the beach!). We also found the sun deck off the master bathroom to be a great feature. The furniture in the house is very comfortable, and we loved relaxing by the gas fireplace during the chilly evenings. Not that we spent much time on our computers, but it was a great convenience to have wireless internet access in the house. We were thrilled to find such a great house that is pet friendly, as we brought our labrador retriever with us for the week. Although the house is pet friendly, you would never know that dogs had been in the house since it was very clean! The house is a very short (less than a block) walk to the beach, which was perfect for our young daughter and our dog. We also walked to the harbor nearly every day for coffee and one evening for dinner at the Crow's Nest Restaurant, which was very good. We found the location of the house to be very convenient - just a short drive to downtown Santa Cruz or the boardwalk. We could not recommend this house enough! We stay at this rental every year and love the location to the beach and all the fantastic restaurants and entertainment this location has to offer. We can walk down the beach in the mornings to the coffee shop or restaurant which is right on the beach for breakfast and enjoy the beauty of the ocean and if we choose take a walk around the yacht harbor..
The home is very cozy and well equipped and we enjoy our stay every year.

This is our second year to rent this condo and we look forward to it next year. It is charming, convenient and a very pleasant place to live. The location, right up the street from Twin Lakes State Beach is perfect. We walk the beach every day and watch the sunsets in the early evening.

Thank you for letting us spend another weekend in your vacation home. We had such a great time and hope to return in the near future. The house is perfect for us and the location is incredible. We had great weather, and on Sunday Black's Beach had a lot of activity with people cooking out, tossing frisbees, playing soccer, etc. We also saw a few dolphins and a seal!

The house is clean, well-equipped, and spacious. The beach was very nearby and wonderful. We really appreciated that we could use the boogie boards and wetsuits for our children. The King bed in the master bedroom was wonderful; it felt like home! Monterey and Carmel are only half an hour away for sightseeing, whale watching and golf. Nearby are also two excellent golf courses called Pasatiempo and DeLeaveage golf. The outdoor tropical patio with gas grill was nice for a dinner at home with steaks and burger. Blacks Beach retreat was a home away from home.

Everything about our Christmas rental at this house was great. The owner/agent replied to inquiries promptly. I thought the rates were quite good considering the proximity to the beach and the amenities of the property. The house was immaculate upon our arrival.The decor is a cut above most vacation rentals. The real draw is the short two minute walk to Twin Lakes Beach. Our dog Stella loved loved loved the walks to the beach. The place was easy to put back in order and the owner returned our deposit quickly.There are three restaurants within walking distance. We ate at the Italian restaurant the first night and thought the food average but the staff was quite friendly. We had a fine Christmas Eve dinner at Oswald downtown and a pretty good meal at Aquarius in The Dream Inn. We arrived at Johnny's by the harbor about 7:30 for dinner one night and they were out of most things we wanted to order. I'd say dinner was just above average, but the servers were quite good.

We had a wonderful time at the beach house earlier this month. The November weather couldn't have been nicer. Walk to great coffee at the harbor along the beach. Many places to eat nearby. The house had everything you could ask for at the beach including chairs, towels, boogie boards, shortie wet suits... very easy access to the beach with spectacular sunset views from the benches at the end of the street overlooking the beach. Will definitely stay again!

After a fantastic but tireing road trip through America my self and my husband and our two friends spent our last 3 days in this lovely beach house before flying back to the UK , only 2 minutes walk from the beach and a 10 minute drive from downtown santa cruz it was just what we needed, The house had plenty of room for 4 adults without being on top of each other and was very clean and well equipped. the garden was lovely with humming birds darting about and the sound of the ocean was just lovely, I wish we could have stayed longer ahhh maybe next year.
