Light-Filled Comfort

Diane in Eagle Rock Los Angeles
Review Submitted: September 24, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
This is a wonderful vacation home (better than described!)

New, with an open floorplan that includes lots of windows allowing light to fill the common areas, even in the foggy and cloudy weather. All the comforts of home including fluffy duvets, tub and showers, coffee grinder, coffee maker, and miles of counterspace.

Not right on the beach, but you would not want to be; it is up on a high point and has an unparalleled view of the Point Arena lighthouse out on the tip of the crescent of Irish Beach stretching out before you. Beach access is within walking distance, down an adjacent road.

The Mendocino Coast is spectacularly rocky with small towns dotting the winding road, both north and south. Perfect home base to just relax and unwind or to go day tripping inland to the Anderson Valley, and take in some redwoods as well. The area is particularly friendly to bicyclists, although bike lanes seem virtually non-existent. Kayaking available on the various rivers in the area. Recommend the Albion River Inn for dinner, ($$) about 2 miles south of the charming town of Mendocino.

It is evident that the owners take great pride in their lovely home. We appreciate and respect the opportunity to enjoy it. I especially enjoyed the baby grand piano!
Owner's Response: Dear Diane,

I am so pleased that you loved our home as much as we do. We hope you will come and stay again in the future. The lovely Pacific coast and our beach house "Seas the Day' await you.

Must stay at this charming, comfortable home!

My husband and I spent a much too short time at Cindy's beautiful home. We have stayed at other properties and must say this is the best cared for, most comfortable, best decorated home we have had the pleasure of calling our own if only for a few days. Very detailed "House info binder" has all the information you need to treat this home well and suggestions for dining if you will not be utilizing the kitchen. Lovely views, cozy, open floor plan, quiet, sunny deck. Deer, quail, sparrows, starlings, gold finches, black phoebee's, wild turkeys to entertain you while you sit in the window looking out to Point Arena. An amazing collection of music and classic movies, great sound system, fun games and puzzles. The kitchen has every appliance you could want. The S&B Market in Manchester just 5 miles south has all your food needs. Larger markets and more gourmet foods in Mendo and Fort Bragg or 30 minutes south in Gualala. Great art galleries. If you love the beach, this part of the coast is definitely for you.
G We are definitely going back next year!

My family and I had a great experience staying at the beach house. The owner provided for everything we needed and more. When I had questions, the owner was also very responsive and showed she cared about our comfort. We had a great time. Not only was the beach house a great place to relax, it was beautifully furnished and decorated. We would love going back there again!

Beautiful home, Amazing views!

This home is perfect for 2 couples....each bedroom has a connecting bath. It was very clean, and decorated classic & simple. The home is very light and bright. The views are outstanding. We saw whales from the living room one day. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could ever need! All the bed lines are new, and the beds are comfortable. It's a very comfortable house, and we all felt very relaxed!

There is a grocery store nearby, but there's not much else. And the grocery store does not have good meats or fish. Irish Beach is a great beach. The drive north to Fort Bragg is a must, it's amazing, and there's a few restaurants in Fort Bragg too.

I would recommend this house to friends!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I am so glad that you got to see whales from the living room. I have seen them many times, without ever having to leave the comfort of the house!

Please come back and stay again.

Quiet and secluded

Review Submitted: December 19, 2007 Date of Stay: October 2007
The home was spotless and beautiful. The view was spectacular from all the rooms in the house. We especially loved sitting on the deck overlooking the ocean. The only downfall was we thought there were no houses between the house and the ocean. A road and other homes were located between the home and the ocean. But, the views were still amazing. There were a lot of small objects in the home so I wouldn't recommend this home for families with children under three. Overall, it was a great home, beautiful inside and out.
Owner's Response: Thank you for this review. I encourage and appreciate comments from all of our guests.

The road in front of the house, is one that you cannot see or hear from the house or when you are sitting on the outside decks. It's a small dead end street.

Houses right on the bluff are much lower, this house sits at 200 ft. above sea level, just behind and above the bluff top, so you are looking over the houses. Views are spectacular from every window and are not blocked by houses.

There are coastal items and other kinds of decorative objects and displays in the house. However, I encourage families to move any of these items as they see fit to either protect their children from small objects or glass items, as well as protecting our things. Many guests have left us notes as to where the items were moved and I just have my cleaning woman put them back. It's more important to us that the children are safe and happy, then loosing any of our items.

Thanks again for these great comments.

Wow. Unbelievable!

I feel so fortunate to have been able to stay at Seas The Day several times and keep going back as it is the most beautiful, spacious, relaxing, quiet, well-appointed, ect. place I have ever experienced on the Mendicino Coast (or just about anywhere)!
While it is, of course, fabulous on clear and sunny summer/fall days with stunning sunsets, ocean vistas and varied wildlife roaming around, it is also a wonder to watch a gathering Pacific Storm from the safety and warmth of the living room, even in winter!
It is easy to recognize how much the owners of Seas The Day cherrish and appreciate their piece of heaven. They take wonderful care of their home and there is quality and consideration in everything about Seas The Day. I consider myself (and my companions who have stayed there with me) very lucky to have found such an incredible get-away fairly close to the SF Bay Area where I reside.

Extraordinary Views

The listing is very accurate, yet cannot capture the magic of the views, especially out toward the Point Arenas Lighthouse.
The house was in impeccable shape and cleaniness. It is a great house to share with another couple. Be prepared to drive a bit to go to restaurants, shopping, but once you have your groceries and drinks, you may not want to leave. There is a sense of calm about both the home and it venue, that I cannot do justice in writing.
