We stayed at Blue Palms from June 1 -8, 2008 and could not have had a nicer, more comfortable place to stay for our Eleuthera vacation. The house is very well appointed and designed. Tastefully decorated and supplied. It is steps from the best snorkeling that we found on Eleuthera. There are infinite coral heads to explore teeming with live coral and fish. We saw turtles, rays, many reef fish and even a nurse shark. Mercy, the caretaker, is a gem of a lady. She took care of anything we asked. Just to spend time in conversation with her is worth a visit.

Our party of 6 was very comfortable at Blue Palms and its location on the center of the island makes it a perfect base for island exploration.

While there, be sure to get a burger at the Country Cafe just up the road in N. Palmetto Point and some conch fritters and cracked conch at the Sunset Inn in Gov. Harbour.

Owner's Response: We are delighted that our home rated your "rave reviews". We try hard to maintain our home and property, and deliver to our guests an experience that they find enjoyable. "Blue Palms" is our home, not just a rental property and we work to make it better and better. We think the addition of the new inground swimming pool is a great asset. Also,we agree with you, Mercy, our caretaker is a gem!

Blue Palms - A Paradise on Eleuthera!!

We returned a week ago from this glorious place! We went from never hearing of this island to wanting to go back badly!! Blue Palms was amazing and Jim & Maria thought of everything! The views were breathtaking and the house was great. All ammenities were thought of....from towels to local maps, bug spray, coolers, flashlights and every necessity you could want away from home. The house was well maintained and very comfortable. We slept every night with only the screen doors shut to hear the waves of the ocean.
The beach was fantastic and my 13 year old was in love when we first walked on the beach and found a conch shell! We spent almost every morning with our chairs in the water, feeling the waves lap up on us to cool us down!
We ate at nearby Tippy's a few times; bought lobster in Governor's Harbor and also did a day-trip to Harbour Island (we actually went to Spanish Wells/Russell Island one day too by accident!) The Glass Window was breathtaking - with the dramatic views of both oceans! Ten Bay Beach was perfect for swimming and finding some sand dollars. The Old Club Med Beach was also quite beautiful. We ate most of our meals at the house, so the grocery stores in town were quaint but practical. The Bakery in Governor's Harbor and produce/fruit at the Island Market were MUSTS! Delicious bakery!!
The decor in the house was very unique and so perfect for the house. All of the accents of swags, plants and paintings gave the house a nice island feel.
We did also use the van - which was very practical for all 7 of us to travel in; and we could fit the cooler and beach chairs in for every trip!
We had a great time and the property was just as described - Spectacular!!

My family recently returned from Blue Palms and we couldn’t be happier. We honeymooned there nearly 4 years ago and it was paradise then, but we were really pleased with the upgrades that the owners have done since then. We can tell that the house is not just a rental for the owners because of the attention to detail. For example, since our last visit the pool furniture has been upgraded, the landscaping is more lush, there is a paved walkway to the beach (it has cut out shells in it!), and there are new/more kitchen things for cooking and eating. We brought our son, who was 10 months at the time, and we were pleased with how well equipped the house was for a baby. We were impressed with how well the place has been maintained in the past 4 years, and the house was super clean- I felt totally fine letting our son crawl all over and touch everything. Blue Palms has a caretaker, Mercy, and she and her husband were great-they couldn’t have been more helpful or attentive. It’s nice to know when you’re so far from home that there’s someone you can count on. As far as thing to do, we like Eleuthera because there isn’t that much to do- that’s the draw. The pool at Blue Palms was great! We went to different beaches, but found Blue Palms had the best easy access snorkeling and the kayak, so we stayed “home” a lot. Ten Bay was perfect for the baby. We also went to a few restaurants, and we would recommend Tippy’s and Sky Beach. And definitely check out the Friday night fish fry. All in all, we had a fabulous time at Blue Palms and we can’t wait to come back!

Pure Pleasure in Paradise

THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING!!! The entire week we were there, not one other person was on the beach, ever! This is a wonderful, tropical paradise with ALL the comforts of home. Each afternoon, a quick trip to Govenor's Harbor for the catch of the day gave us continual feasts of fish. HUGE lobsters for the grill, fresh picked fruit each day from the tiny store in North Palmetto and coconuts lying about the grounds. The beach and snorkling off the house beach is terrific. Clear, clear and azure blue.

The house is everything a visitor, family or couple could possibly want or need. Beautifully decorated. You will need a car to get around, but that also gives you the opportunity to visit some of the "spectacular" beaches. Ten Bay IS a MUST!! Our young (age 2 and 4) grandchildren had a ball there. The water was so shallow, we never had to worry about them. Even walking a hundred yards from shore, we were only hip deep in warm, absolutely crystal clear water. We found scores of sandollars and starfish. Spent the whole day with naps in the beach shade. I have never seen such wonderful and amazing beaches. If you want to fish with a guide, call Paul Petty in Govenor's Harbor. He is the best!

The people are so eager to please and friendly. Loved all of the "grills" set up everywhere on Friday selling food. We especially enjoyed the Friday Night Fish Fry at Govenor's Harbor and the Rum Bubbas! Holy Cow!!

If you want peace and quiet while in Paradise, BLUE PALMS IS your place. I crave to go back!!!

Blue Palms, Another World Awaits You

I specifically looked on Eluethera since it is one of the last Carib islands that is not over populated. Of all the beachfront homes I studied, this home was truly as-the-photos-depict. From the description of the home to the night sky above, it was right on. Maria and Jim have gone way and above to provide a home with all the necessities from a baby booster chair and a play pen to a well equipped sewing kit. Airbeds for extra sleeping space and room for all. Kitchen is well equipped, plenty of beach towels, bath towels and a very handy washer/dryer. Bathrooms are very functional and each side has their own outside private Tiki shower. Never used the indoor shower at all. The reefs are within snorkling distance for experienced scuba or new snorklers. The Atlantic breeze is wonderful and most comfortable. If the water is a bit choppy, Maria and Jim have provided a notebook with all the local beaches both on the calm Carribean side and Atlantic side as well. The late model Dodge Caravan is ample transportation for many to visit Eleuthera. But you will find that after your journey, coming home to Blue Palms is what is most comforting. Last but not least is the pool that is a rarity on an island where fresh water is precious and so is this pool. It is one of the draws that will bring us back to Blue Palms and the pictures are not CGI'd at all. The colour palete on the pictures is as real as it gets. I give Maria and Jim's Blue Palms 5 stars and their caretaker Mercy is a Godsend as well as her husband Calvin. We never ate out as the abundance of fresh seafood, Atlantic lobsters, Conch, Grouper etc was too good to pass up. We ate dinner on the sun deck and watch the shooting stars and we ate dinner next to the pool. It was just so much to take in and the envirinment felt just like being...well...Home. Thank you Maria and Jim for sharing your private home with us. And do go to Island Farms and see Maria's water colour paintings. There are some in the house but you can purchase them at Island Farms for $18.00, ready to frame. Like Blue Palms, Maria's paintings immanate the true beauty of Eleuthera. We are already planning out next visit bringing family for one week and a secluded week to ourselves. Do visit the Library at Govenor's Harbour, Established 1897 and restored to use within the last 10+ years. They have fast internet for only $5.00/hour. Ros, head librarian has been on Eleuthera for over 30 years she has wonderful insite into this magic place. Pamm

Blue Palms

From the minute I walked into Blue Palms I could tell that this was a very special place for the owners. It sits just in front of a beautiful snorkeling beach, down only a few steps, and the water has all colors from white to green to deep blue. This is a home, not just a beach house, and the owners considered every detail, which is a plus for their renters. From the tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms, the bull nosed kitchen counter, well stocked kitchen including Cuisinart pots and pans, new and thick bath and beach towels, beautiful blue ceramic pots scattered along the property with lovely floral arrangements, landscaping of the yard with lots of palms trees and other flora, the beautiful and refreshing pool with two Frontgate rafts, great new patio furniture on the bi-level patios, solar lights lining the pathway to the platform on the beach (with 2 lounges and another table umbrella), and the palm tree theme on chairs, towels, bedspreads, lamps and throughout the home, even the trim of sisal rug. The palm tree incorporated into the pool patio was also very clever as it provides shade & a breeze. Maria McBride’s lovely watercolor paintings and what I call the “Grape Lady” are added attractions that also make the home special. There’s also a CD/MP3 player (bring your own double pin audio cable and 6 “C” batteries) to make your days around the pool and watching the nightly star show even more spectacular. Did I mention the view? And the double person kayak? And the incredible rock and coral formations a short swimming distance for a snorkeling enthusiast ? And the outside showers?! Blue Palms is a very nice home.

Eleuthera vacation

We are just home from a Wonderful week at Blue Palms in Eleuthera.
Blue Palms was more than we expected, wonderfully appointed, well furnished, and exceptionally maintained vacation home!
The owners were excellent to deal with, from start to finish.
I would recommend renting the van, or finding a rental car, as this property is aprox. 25 minutes from the airport, be prepared for bumpy roads, do drive carefully, especially in the dark.
We had 7 adults in the home, which never felt crowded, plenty of things to do, inside and out. Situated right on the beach, snorkeling is wonderful anywhere right in front of the house, a great swimming beach is about a 25 minute walk to the south.
I walked every day for miles and only ever saw 2 other people other then our group, peace and serenity! Don't go to Eleuthera if you are looking for night life! It was wonderful, and very safe!

Do watch out for the no-see-ums! we had one night with No wind, and we were all eaten alive! Bring bug spray. If they are out, no lights, as they are small enough to come through the screens.

We found the smaller grocery stores were much cheaper then the larger ones in GH and Rock sound. The bakery in GH has the BEST gingerbread that I have ever had, watch for the little blue arrows on the posts to direct you there.
Over all we will all return to Blue Palms. 10 out of 10!
