Engagement weekend

engaged in savoy Brooklyn, NY
Review Submitted: October 20, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My girlfriend and I (along with our dog) spent a weekend in Savoy in October 2009. I proposed to her at nearby Tannery Falls and surprised her with the house rental. Nate really goes above and beyond with every aspect of this house. He prepped the house with champagne, flowers, chocolate, and even started a fire for us in the wood stove on the morning we were set to arrive. He gave us recommendations for eating and hiking as well. The house itself is beautiful and clearly is a result of Nate's attention to detail. It has a perfect balance of cozy and modern decoration (and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in). At the end of the weekend, there was really nothing more we could have asked for. Perfect house for a perfect weekend. Thanks Nate!
Owner's Response: We work hard with every guest to make sure everything about their stay is perfect! If you have special requests or you're celebrating an anniversary or even just a get-a-way weekend, let us know how we can make your stay more enjoyable.

Perfect Weekend Away from it all

JOECOLE Jersey City, NJ
Review Submitted: November 24, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
I can't say enough about the place. The owners have done an amazing job preparing this house for any and all circumstances/needs. I just spent a 3 day weekend there with my girlfriend and now fiance (proposed at Tannery Falls) and I can't wait to come back. If we forgot to bring something, they had it there for us. There's something about being in the middle of nowhere reading a book by fire that makes you feel incredibly relaxed.

The house was everything and more for a great relaxing weekend of hiking, river tubing and just relaxing on the front deck enjoying the beautiful scenery. The house was very clean and well stocked with all essentials and more!! I felt like I was sharing my friend's home. I reccommend it for a reuniting of family or friends where the stress and interruptions of everyday work/life can be lifted and left on the doorstep.

13th Annual Sister Weekend

PatBar New Hampshire
Review Submitted: September 8, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
This annual Labor Day weekend get away was one of the best my sisters and I have ever had.. and mainly because of the outstanding accommodations we had in Savoy, MA at your beautiful cottage in the woods. From the minute we stepped in the door (it was like stepping into a Pottery Barn catalog) to the basket full of ideas and activities, to the night lamps you pack in the knapsacks.. you do not miss a detail. I would certainly come back to Savoy and highly recommend this home to all of my friends looking for a retreat.

I loved staying here! My sisters and I had such a wonderful time over Labor Day weekend. This home was so clean and comfortable that we hated to leave. Tubing down the Deerfield River was our favorite activity and only 10 minutes away! I would definitely go back and highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax and has all the amenities of home...and more.

A very Relaxing Retreat

Rio Santa Cruz, CA
Review Submitted: September 8, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
This rental is truly a "home away from home". There are lots of roads and trails to explore right outside the door. It is very well equipped, comfortable, and very clean. If you let the owners know ahead of time what your interests are ( hiking, art, events, etc) they will point you in the right direction. If you forget to ask, there are many local maps and brochures that were available in the house. Make sure you buy groceries before you arrive, because the big towns are not close by.

Quiet

Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
I didn't do any hiking or skiing but cooked, read and relaxed. Took a trip into North Adams to Mass MOCA art museum and visited some other gallerys. The place is very quiet and clean. Just what I wanted.
Thanks,
Bob
Owner's Response: The cabin is a short drive to North Adams, which is home to MASS MoCA, the world's largest museum of contemporary art. There are several other galleries in North Adams as well as some great restaurants and natural attractions like Natural Bridge State Park.

A bit further is Williamstown where you'll find Williams College Museum of Art, Clark Art Institute, several great restaurants, and antique shops downtown.

In late summer and early fall, both towns hold farmer's markets on Saturday mornings ... a delicious way to support the community.

Great long weekend getaway in perfect spot

Sangeeta New Haven, Connecticut
Review Submitted: July 6, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This place was perfect for 3 couples and 2 dogs (yes, big group-no problem at all at Black Brook) for the July 4th weekend. We all fit comfortably and enjoyed all of the rooms there were to hang out in, without stepping on each other's toes. The backyard is gorgeous and huge, with lots of room to play, grill, and sit by the campfire. We used both the gas and charcoal bbq, definitely fired up the campfire and made smores with the ingredients nate so thoughtfully left for us. The property has every single amenity you could think of. We started joking that whatever we needed, from extra jackets and blankets to picnic with, to Q-tips and soap, would of course be lying in the house somewhere! It had more things than I have in my own home! We cooked dinner one night, grilled another night, and took a picnic to Tanglewood to watch the fireworks our last night. It was a great vacation and we were so sad to miss it. This was our first time at this cabin (although we've been to the Berkshires several times) and I heartily recommend it - we are definitely going to come back. Best of all, working with Nate was super easy - even when we changed our plans, added more people, etc etc, he was easy going and warm. If you've rented homes before, you know this counts for a LOT. Beds were clean and super comfy, bathroom was beautiful and roomy. this place is great for one couple looking to get away, as well as 3 couples looking for a getaway with their dogs! I can't recommend it enough.

Like staying with your best friend

Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
You feel like a guest at this house. They have thought of everything that you needed from bug spray to back packs for your hike. This is a home with personal touches and we felt relaxed as soon as we opened the door. We will be back!
Owner's Response: Whenever we travel we keep a mental list of everything we loved, disliked, or wished was available in that particular vacation rental or even the occasional hotel. Annoyances like black flies, mosquitoes, and sun burn aren't so bad if the owners have provided bug spray at their cabin or sunscreen (and aloe) at their beach house. We know what it's like to have forgotten a toothbrush or toothpaste; that's why we provide them. It's really the small things that can make a big difference.

If you're planning your weekend escape as a surprise romantic getaway, tell us what will make it more special for you. Is it a bottle of your favorite wine? Her favorite flowers? Whatever you can dream up, we can help make happen! Our goal is to exceed your expectations.

Perfect Getaway from Hectic Life

happyinsavoy West Springfield, MA
Review Submitted: April 22, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My Wife and I recently stayed at the cottage. We wanted a place that we would be secluded and could bring our 2 Labs. Upon arrival we were very please that the house had virtually no neighbors, a large side yard and a nice wrap around deck. The house was very nicely decorated and had more of a home feel, than that of a cottage. The kitchen was fully stocked with every pot or pan we needed as well as a few food staples (we brought or own and didn’t need them but it was nice they were there in case you forget something like Mayo). The kitchen table had a very thoughtful gift basket from the owners. The living room had ample seating and a wonderful wood stove fireplace, which was exactly what we wanted. We sat and read, played card and board games and relaxed. Nate and Ryan do an excellent job with customer service and really make it so that you only have to show up. The bathroom was full of the necessities and a few extras. They have a huge library with a diverse book selection with some thing for everyone. I will caution that there is not a TV, so the movies we brought to watch were useless, but not having the TV made our trip so much more enjoyable. The bed and pillows were so comfortable that my wife went upstairs with a pad and pen to write down the names so we could find the same ones when we look for new bed and pillows.
The one downside was that the house phone rang or 5 times which was distracting/annoying but we understand that is out of the owners control.
The house is surrounded by woods. We hiked to Tannery Falls and through the national park. It was very peaceful and the dogs had the time of their lives. All in all it was a great weekend thanks to Ryan and Nate and their very nice cottage. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away. Thank you Ryan and Nate and we look forward to staying there again (this time with our little bundle of joy and the dogs)!
Owner's Response: We're so happy you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you back!

Thanks for letting us know about the telemarketing phone calls...I checked into our "do not call" list status and discovered that I needed to sign up again and immediately did so.

We decided not to have a TV at the cabin because we felt it would distract from the ambiance and “get away from it all” feeling that we were trying to create. While most guests have described having no TV as “refreshing” some have been a bit disappointed, but were happy with the high-speed wireless internet as an alternative to get their news/weather/etc…remember to bring your laptop :)

For the mattresses, bedding, and pillows we were cognizant that everyone has different preferences so we purchased several varieties with the hope of making everyone feel at home. All of the mattresses are new and have either memory foam or feather bed toppers. There are “seasonal” linens with varying thread counts, textures, and weights and we have compiled a “pillow library” of synthetic, down/feather, memory foam, soft, firm, etc.

We encourage questions from anyone that may be thinking of staying and always welcome and appreciate comments from our previous guests.

Thank you and happy travels! -Ryan & Nate
