Have stayed at River House numerous times over the past few years. Have loved every minute of it. The owner makes sure everything is just right and was great in showing us around the property a couple of times. We love the charm and location. It is away from everything. There is so much hiking and canoeing nearby. The atmosphere of the house and property are priceless. We love that everything is dog friendly as well. Can't wait to stay there again. The owner makes us feel like it is our home too, not that we are just guests. Thanks for renting out this jewel!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. Very quiet, beautiful deck to sit on and watch all the birds. Walk down to the river and sit on the little patio and just relax and enjoy the view. We brought our dogs which was great and took them for walks around the property. Can't say enough about this home. We will certainily return in the near future.

Our family booked the River House Rental in Ridge Manor FL on Dec 17th, 2010 for a 3 day vacation. On our arrival, we knew we had made a mistake! When we pulled up, there was an old, large dilapidated boat in front of the house. The owner was present and all doors open due to the musty smell as the home absolutely reeked of cigarettes! There were cobwebs under the rafters and the yard was unmaintained. Conditions were extremely unhealthy! In the main bath, the tub & wall were actually torn out! It was very dark & dingy inside the master bedroom even with lights on. The BBQ grill in back was old, broken and all rusted out! The hot tub wasn’t even working. The owner did say she would go out and buy another grill. I declined as I knew we probably wouldn’t stay. This was all pretty unbelievable and I held back tears until she left. We took pics inside and out when she left, then had to drive to Tampa to find a hotel for the night as the rental was obviously unhealthy. We then called to kindly inform her why we could not stay, told her we felt misinformed and requested a refund, and were generously willing to pay 1 night, She never returned our $ or cancelled deposit check and we have given her more than ample time. Conditions may or may not have changed since we were there but this was our unacceptable experience. We are concerned for other unsuspecting vacationers. VRBO Customer Service assured me they would not support misrepresentation.

Vicki's retreat was so comfortable, we had planned numerous activities in the area and we hardly left the property! The jacuzzi on the back deck, the birds, the river, the comfortable king size bed, it's a perfect, relaxing place for vacation. I would recommend this to anyone looking to relax and see the real Florida!

The river place met all of our expectations and then some!!!! Since my husband and I have different priorities for a vacation it is some times hard for us to settle on a place that meets both of our needs. I am not a golfer and he likes to get in a few rounds when we go to the south for a vacation (which he did at Scotland Yard, a nice course between Dade City and Zephryhills). Usually I am bored in a condo while he is gone with no car. That was not the problem at Vicki's place. I so loved the river where I kayaked and and the dogs played and just sitting on the porch watching all the birds come in, reading a good book. We loved just letting the dogs run around with no worries they would bother someone--it seems they had more than 20 acres to roam (supervised) through paths and along the river. The weather was perfect--a warm spell for February--in the 80's in the days and 50's at night. It was so wonderful to watch the news as the snow fell on our property in Pennsylvania, we were enjoying running around in tee shirts and flip flops!!!
When we first arrived, spring hadn't sprung and it was not as colorful as the pictures, but in that week we were there spring burst forth leaving us with a great peek at how wonderful this place must look in full bloom.
Though we didn't cook in much, all the utensils to do it were there! Everyone says that Vicki thinks of everything for her guests and that is true, right down to a king size select comfort bed with regal sheets!!!
Previously we'd spent most of our Florida time on the two coasts, but we wanted to explore the clear spring waters of central Florida. Being the water rat, I too got in my fun. We took a trip to Kelly Springs (near Apopka) where I could float down a spring-fed stream as it flowed for it's mouth at a cave and into a huge reservoir. The water and the air were warm! Then we spent part of a day on the Silver river east of Ocala where we saw all kinds of wonderful wild life as we paddled a canoe rented at the State Park.
It was a perfect vacation!

This place is absolutely breathtaking!!! I searched and searched online months ago for somewhere to take my husband for his 40th birthday. I wanted it to be a surprise. He wanted somewhere relaxing. Well, he definitely got that!!! My husband and I have been together 24 years and this weekend was THE BEST of all places we have gone together. It is soooo peaceful and relaxing. The pictures here do not do this place justice. It is decorated with nature in mind and even the inside gives you the tranquil feeling. Everything you need is right there. I can't say enough nice things about Vicki! She is one of the sweetest people we have ever met!!!! Soooooo caring!! She even had a nice steak dinner for our first night AND a cute little woodsy-theme cake for my husband!!! It was so nice soaking in the hot tub under the stars and then getting in the amazingly comfortable bed! Sitting on the deck with morning coffee and watching the birds was great! I could go on and on with so many positives about this place. I honestly don't have one bad thing to say about it at all. We will DEFINITELY be making this a place to come back to each year. We didn't even do any canoeing because we were just so in awe with sitting back relaxing and hiking trails right on the property. We definitely plan on doing that next time though. I stayed at the Riverfront property with my boyfriend for his birthday. I was looking for a quiet, tranquil place out in the woods and that is exactly what I got. We loved the house it was so cute and the location was perfect. It was great walking around and canoeing and watching the turkeys walk around the property. It was a wonderful weekend that we didn't want to end. Vicki was so nice and great as well. The house had everything we needed and Vicki has everything all set up and thought out. We are hoping we can go back in the future with our puppy, Hunter. I definitely recommend the Riverfront property! (Close to state parks where you can do more adventure seeking things too!)

We were looking for a place to kick back and relax while enjoying nature. I absolutely loved the baby cardinals and finchs, it was so relaxing enjoying my morning coffee or evening wine out on the front porch amoung the birds. Also, as a family we truely loved our time on the River kayaking and canoeing, my wife was the designed River Princess (chair in the middle of the canoe) and was very comfortable despite having a bad back. Vicky was a wonderful host and I have recommended a weekend get away to the RiverHouse too many of our friends.
