week of relaxation and great weather

My family (3 generations) and I enjoyed our stay. The chalet was very clean. Although the website states linens are not included the beds where made upon arrival. The house could use better lighting in each of the rooms as they were very dark. The front yard fire pit was great for making smores. Wild life every day walking through the yard made it very peaceful. We couldn't get enough of the chipmunks and deer.
We met some very friendly neighbors and folks in the community while using the pool and games room. The house is close to Claws-n-Paws Zoo and Costa's Family Fun center. Overall great time!

Great place for kids

Review Submitted: February 27, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
We had a wonderful time at the poconos area, and renting the chalet was great. The kids, love the indoors pool, and iceskating at the lake. You need your car to get to the pool or the lake, but the place is beautiful.
The house was really clean and has everything we need for a family vacation. The games they provide were really fun.
the location was also great. Sno Mountain was a 40 min ride and Big Bear at 45. So we could ski everyday.
The local restaurant was delicious and the people really friendly, we definetely recomend this place!!!

An old time Thanksgiving

Holiday weekenders Tarrytown, New York
Review Submitted: August 6, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2007
We had the opportunity to vacation in the chalet last November. The house was very comfortable and we all had a wonderful weekend. We stayed with friends and there was ample sleeping space for all (there were 8 of us - 4 adults and 4 kids). We especially enjoyed the warmth of the gas fireplace in the living room. The kitchen was well stocked and provided us with what we needed to prepare our meals. The countryside is beautiful and we enjoyed taking long walks. We very much appreciated the information the owners provided about things to do in the area. We would definitely go back to this property.

Incredible Vacation

Came for a weekend, can't wait to come back for a week. Complex had soooo much to do. Excellent for families.
House was clean- we went with our friends and all had plenty of space. House has exactly what it lists! Asked to have inventory list sent prior to rental to see what we would need to bring. They thought of everything that would make the trip more enjoyable- including a picnic basket that makes bringing food to the pool or beach so much easier. Loved the "oops did you forget basket" that had a sampling of items that would be needed before we made it to the store.Outdoor fireplace great. Loved sitting on the deck and having our morning coffee. Lots of Deer. Game room in the basement was perfect for rainy days.Kids loved having their own space in the basement they could call their own. Basement wasn't damp at all! Has a dehumidifier that worked great. All bathrooms and kithchen were perfectly clean. Can't wait to come back, fishing great, pools excellent, house in great location!

Deer Friendly Chalet

Review Submitted: July 29, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
The Chalet was very nice overall. Space was good for family of 3 down stairs and family of 3 upstairs but they had to bring their own air mattress for the kids. More bedding would have been helpful. The "master bedroom" downstairs needed better lighting. The basement was too damp for kids to sleep in. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils dishes, etc but be sure to bring your own toilet paper, cleaning products, sponges, paper products, aluminum foils, etc as non were provided. The bathroom downstairs needed a lot of work, as it wasnt very clean. There was mold on the tile and it smelled, not sure of what, but it was that way when we arrived..Cleaning down the outdoor furniture would have been nice too. Liked the fire pit alot..nice to cook out. The area was lovely, lots of deer and the kids loved the pools. It was a dog friendly house with no traces of other peoples animals so that was nice. The house just needs some TLC to make it more accomodating to guest. NIce location with lots to do.

Great STAY

Review Submitted: July 10, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We had a great time. There are 3 bedrooms and a huge basement. The basement is also a play room. There were 6-8 adults in our crew and we had a great time. However, if you want some peace this is not the place to stay. The house is wooden and you hear everything. Our friends were upstairs and we were downstairs, we heard everything they were doing. The positives are a great location. Huge house. The AC worked great. We spend most of our stay grilling. We had a fire and the security drove by a few times and just made sure everything was ok. The neighborhood was quite, but we werent. The pools, the lakes, the community. There is just so many things to do. We stayed for 4 days and now we want to go back. Chris and Jean are awesome and made the planning so much easier. They created a book of all things you must know which was great, but we ended up calling them a million times anyways. In spite of that, they were still awesome. Really a great place to stay in Poconos.
Jean and Chris
Thank you!

Memorial Day Weekend - Reasonable Rate

Rosemary3640 Dublin, PA, USA
Review Submitted: June 6, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
Chalet was pretty nice, clean. Upon heading up there Fri pm, the owner called to see if we minded him stopping by to fix the toilet; holiday weekend???? Thought he should've done that before we arrived, but agreed if he called first. Upon our arrival, we had to contact the owner due to cat/dog hair embedded in the couch and we didn't want to be blamed for that (I brought a white dog) and lose our deposit. The owner showed up unannounced to take a picture of the hair on couch. Not too happy with that, then informed us he'd be stopping by on Sat. to fix the toilet. Even unhappier with that. The screen door fell of the tracks and the sliding patio door barely opened, front door didn't latch; dogs were getting lose. Sat. morning my husband (carpenter) fixed the toilet and all the doors so the owner wouldn't intrude on our privacy again. Didn't see him after that. No toaster; strange not to provide. Owner didn't inform us that open fires were banned when we asked if we could have one. Found out when the security guard told us to put it out. Very big deal to us. Lots of deer - good thing. Boat launch - good luck, no dock and lots of rocks. Had to drive 20 min. to a nice launch. Wouldn't go back there; we love our campfires and privacy!
Owner's Response: We were surprised and concerned to read the review. We take the safety and comfort of our guests very seriously.
We did first learn from the cleaning service that day that there was a slow leak internally in one of the toilet tanks causing the water to run. Since time did not allow this to be repaired prior to their check-in, we called the guests in advance of their arrival, and informed them we would have it repaired at their convenience. They called later that night to inform us they had repaired the leak and it would not be necessary for us to have it fixed during their stay.
The house is checked prior to each rental. We ask all renters to call upon check-in if there is any discrepancy with the inventory or condition of the house, in order to verify the condition together. This assures that no charges will be made against the guest’s deposit for which they are not responsible. The renter acknowledges the “Chalet was pretty nice, clean”. We believe the issue of the animal hair was from their dog(s), and based on their concern about losing their deposit. No deposit monies are forfeited unless excessive cleaning costs are incurred, damage is done, or fines assessed. We are not in the business to keep deposit money- this would be bad for business.
The front door to the house is perfectly secure and has no issue locking. The door to the screened-in room has a dead bolt. If not used, can be pushed open.
No toaster: We always appreciate suggestions to make our guest’s stay more enjoyable.
A local burning ban determined by the fire department based on draught conditions was why the fire needed to be extinguished.
A slip is available for use when launching boats on Lake Wallenpaupack. The launch was manned if any questions came up. Rocks? It is unclear to me where he was launching the boat from, as the launch is a standard concrete launch.
We can only assure future renters since we have been in business, our return rate is excellent. Our house is rented all summer, every summer since we started. Our guest book in the house is filled with wonderful comments and return guests seem to love the house. As with any house, it is possible for things to break or need to be fixed. We do all we can so that we are proactive – we don’t want renters to be inconvenienced. But if something does come up last minute we are responsive and handle it professionally to ensure that our renters have a good stay with us.
