Enjoyed this cottage

We really enjoyed our stay in this little cottage on Lake Mitchell. My husband and I rented this particular cottage because it was so close to the lake and the windows all across the front provided a really spectacular view.
The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was easy to navigate and had all the dishes, pots and pans, etc. we needed.
Most of all, we enjoyed being out on the deck and just relaxing.
My husband explored Big Cove and Little Cove out on the lake, and we hiked by Camp Torenta every day...
The bright, sunny porch was a perfect place for playing cards and games, and the living room was ideal for watching TV at night. All the furniture was very comfortable.
All in all, we would recommend this cottage very highly.

We stayed here Mid-July and absoltely loved it. We took 4 boys with us 2-11 year olds and 2-15 year olds. We did lots of fishing which was great by the way. The boys tubed. The water is very clean and shallow by the dock and has a sandy bottom. I loved the cottage it was very clean, had lots of room and all the little amenities of home. We will definitely go back next year. The owners are also great people.

Wonderful and attentive owners. Very concerned for you comfort. The place is as advertised, a vacation home not just a cottage. The bathroom is quite small, but the rest of the place more than makes up for any inconvenience you may experience. The dining area overlooking the lake came in a close second to the reclining loveseat in front of the fireplace as our favorite spot. The bedrooms are comfortable and roomy. We had six adults and two children and had plenty of room. The lake is awesome with outstanding fishing and really good swimming just outside your door. My wife and I highly reccommend this location for a good time. You'll enjoy the lake and the surrounding area.

We just stayed in this cottage for a week. It was great my 2 boys each had a friend then there was the 2 of us. It was excellent fishing, tubing, swimming, and the boys went clam dipping just for the fun of it and found probably 75 of them. The Schafers are excellent people and the cottage has everything you could ever want. There's lots of room and is very clean. I didn't want to leave. We will definitely be going back next year. We would recomment this place to everyone. Thanks Again Pat and Pat for allowing us into your home for a wonderful vacation.

This was a peaceful, nice place to stay. The view from the deck across Lake Mitchell says it all. I can only imagine how beautiful it will be in the Fall with all the colors of the season. We hope to be able to stay here again sometime in the future. Thank you to the owners; Pat and Patti

Great place to relax with family and friends. Water is shallow for the kids and fishing is great from the dock.

We have rented many vacation homes over the years and this is not upscale...nor did I consider it clean. Floors and bathroom look like they had not been cleaned in weeks. Dirty fridge with previous tenants leftover food in it. None of the bedding (pillows, mattress pads and comforters) had been freshly laundered in my opinion. Ancient microwave, frayed cord on the coffeemaker, broken toaster so had to use toaster oven and only 3 working burners on stove.Did not find the furniture comfortable at all for relaxing in the evening. Cable TV means you get basic cable (about 6 channels). The bunk beds were so rickety that my daughter slept on an aerobed that we brought with us (thank goodness). Lots of lawn chairs but only one chaise bed that was broken and couldn't be used. The bathroom is about the size of a closet with the toilet wedged into an opening so narrow that you were rubbing against the wall while you were on the commode. My husband who is 6'1" barely had enough room in the shower stall to crouch under the shower head to wash his hair and get his upper body washed.
there is only one ceiling fan in the cottage and it is in the living room so bring fans for the bedrooms. The paddle boat has a leak in it and the row boat was full of green scummy water. We rented a pontoon boat for the week because all my 19 year old son wanted to do was fish all week. He didn't have a single bite never mind a catch. My husband did catch one. Really disappointing! If you plan on boating at all, please know that these two lakes (Mitchell and Cadillac) are very shallow and have lots of vegetation ...the kind that gets tangled around the propellers. We were constantly stopping and reversing the boat to free up the weeds caught on the propeller. The swimming is ok near the dock and very shallow so safe enough for kids but the bottom is kind of a gushy sand. Nice golf courses nearby so when the fishing was deemed a no-go at least there was something for the guys to do. Make sure to get the code for the wireless service or you won't be able to use your computer. Nice, friendly owners but again, not what I would call an upscale cottage.

This is an excellent place for a getaway vacation. We were there mid-July, and the weather was GREAT. This home has everything you need. The water was great, and the cycling in the area is excellent. This is an excellent location for taking day trips to Lake Michigan. Tubing on the Platt River was excellent. The owners were GREAT!! We will be a return renter..... THANKS PAT AND PAT.
