Our recent stay at Casa Bella was wonderful. We arrived late (1030 p.m.) and the house was prepared beautifully. The Innkeeper (Mari) was waiting for us with wine and snacks. We stayed a total of 3 weeks and it just didn't seem long enough. Carols had so much helpful information listed about San Miguel, that I finished a physical exam and my husband had dental work done as well. I just can't thank Carlos and Mari enough for their hospitality.

Casa Bella was totally charming and beautiful. Everything was exactly or better than pictured. The owner made our visit worry free by providing us with very detailed information before we arrived as well as a great guide book at the house. We were taken care of every step of the way from having a wonderful driver/guide meet us at the airport, to activities, restaurants, suggestions, and being delivered back to the airport. One of the highlights as a wonderful Mexican dinner prepared by the housekeeper.
I would highly recommend to a friend or relative.

Casa Bella is an oasis of peace and tranquility that we delighted in for a month. The owners, Carlos and Linda, have created an environment that is aesthetically beautiful, extremely functional and homey, and just a pleasure to live in. We have been to San Miguel many times and this was the best house that we have been in. True, we paid more than we usually do, but it was worth every penny. Although we were already well oriented to San Miguel and new a lot of people in town, Carlos was extremely available with helpful suggestions and things to do while we were there. we also really appreciated that the house has filtered water, a great entertainment center (which we used to watch the Olympics!) and a beautiful Art Studio which Linda was generous enough to allow us to use. We already miss this beautiful house and the relaxation that it inspired!

Casa Bella es simplemente encantadora. Mi esposo y yo buscamos un lugar para pasar unos días de descanso y turismo en San Miguel de Allende con nuestro bebe y mi madre y encontramos esta joya! Toda la casa está decorada con maravillosos detalles. Las fotos y la descripción ya muestran una parte, pero tienen que ver la casa, es mucho mejor. La casa es muy amplia y cómoda: las habitaciones, la sala, el comedor, el jardín y ofrece muchos espacios para relajarse y pasar un rato tranquilo. También es ideal para socializar. Por ejemplo, una de las cosas que más disfrutamos fueron las terrazas, son muy acogedoras y hay una para cada tipo de actividad, la de abajo la usamos para desayunar o comer al aire libre (pero cubiertos con el techo!) y la de arriba al atardecer, o tomar una copa de vino antes de cenar. También disfrutamos mucho la cocina, ya que nos gusta cocinar. No sólo es cómoda y práctica, sino además muy completa y permite pasar tiempo en familia. En cuanto a Carlos (Charles), el propietario, es una persona que te ayuda en todo lo que puedas necesitar, desde darte ideas de transporte del DF a San Miguel, hasta recomendaciones de lugares, o rutas para caminar al centro del SMA. Le estamos muy agradecidos por toda su ayuda y también por organizar la renta de último momento (con varios cambios también de último momento!) y por su información detallada de la casa, de la ubicación (un mercado a 5 minutos, tiendas locales a 3 cuadras o 10 minutos caminando al centro) y darnos una tarifa en pesos para no tener que hacer el cambio de dólares. Su español es excelente! Lo último que debo mencionar es que la casa tiene el valor añadido que Mari (una mujer muy servicial y amable) va todos días a hacer la limpieza de la casa (Lun-vi), y puedes pedirle que cocine, a nosotros nos hizo unos chiles rellenos. Estamos muy contentos de haber encontrado este lugar y sin duda volveremos algún día!

A friend of mine, a high school ESL teacher, and I wanted to travel to Mexico. I thought of San Miguel de Allende because I had lived there in 1978, had wonderful memories, and wanted to return. It would be a good place for my friend to learn more about Mexico and to study Spanish. The trail to Casa Bella was marked with questions that just had to be answered. Though I remained the adventuresome spirit I was when I was younger, thirty-four years had passed. There were rumors about traveling safely in Mexico. I had never “rented” a vacation home before, or sent money off to someone who was a stranger to me (hotel reservations seemed another matter). Both of us wanted to stay healthy and safe.

I found the Casa Bella pages online. It looked to be a beautiful place and the accompanying information knocked about 6 or 7 questions off our list. I contacted the owners and asked for more. Every reply was friendly and informative, without the least hint of impatience or condescension. We eventually signed the deal through a secure website.

The rest of the story unfolded much the same as the first chapter had. Casa Bella is a truly lovely, secure, comfortable, and interesting place to stay and San Miguel is as safe a community as many of our US towns and cities we hear about in the United States. Charles Soberman helped us arrange for transportation from the airport in Leon and back there at our visit’s end. While we were there, he checked in on us without being invasive and sent suggestions about where to go and what to do. He returned our security deposit within one day after our return to the States.

Getting to know and to work with Casa Bella’s caretaker, proved one of the highlights of our experience. She was trustworthy and helpful, with the patience of Job and the integrity of Vesta. Because I speak a passable Spanish, we were able to learn much more through conversation, especially when she accompanied us to the marketplace and taught us how to cook various traditional dishes. In any case, she was a patient and focused listener and made a sincere effort to communicate and attend to our requests.

Any jealousy I might feel at someone’s opportunity to stay at Casa Bella (I want to return someday) would be outweighed by my genuine delight for the treat that lies in store for whoever chooses it as their vacation home.

I spent almost two weeks in Casa Bella while exploring San Miguel, taking day trips to some surrounding communities, and studying Spanish.

The listing is accurate: the house has many advantages, especially Mari, the wonderful housekeeper. With her support and direction, we fit right into the neighborhood: shopping for food, finding a good Spanish school, visiting a local school. She maintains the property and everything in it with impeccable care.

While there is a lot to do and see in San Miguel, it is a pleasure to return each day to this beautiful home, decorated with a warm and colorful aesthetic. The garden and outdoor seating areas are wonderful; I tried to spend time reading or studying in each one every day! Though Carlos mentions that one disadvantage of the house is the lack of a view of the city, I enjoyed the rooftop verandah and the view of the neighborhood and trees the most.

Carlos, the owner, was helpful before and during our trip; he wants to make sure you enjoy the stay. There is a guide in the house that answers most questions, but Carlos is available and immediately responsive if other questions or concerns arrive.

I would recommend Centro Bilingue for language lessons, the nearby bakery at Calle Refugio for treats, cooking lessons from Mari, and strolling in the Jardin and Juarez park. Use the buses for day trips; taxis and walking are all you need for town.

Before I returned home, I was already emailing friends to recommend this property. I can recommend it to you with no reservations.

Literally just back from Casa Bella and it was AMAZING - the pictures here do not do it justice! An easy 10 minute walk to the Jardin...but stopping at shops along the way can make it a little longer. The owner is incredible in assisting in recommendations and followed up with us throughly to make sure our trip was a success. Working in the luxury hospitality industry I can give nothing but 5 stars! Looking forward to next trip to SMA and Casa Bella!

Great stay at Casa Bella. Very confortable and tastefully decorated home with authentic Mexican charm and all the ammenities you would find in your own home, and more! The property exceeded our expectations, the owner Carlos was very helpful and provided excellent support before, during and after our stay. Particularly enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine and fresh cut flowers throughout the house. Clean, well maintained, beautiful outdoor gardens and decks on every level. There is something to catch your eye in every direction you look. The location was a 10 minute walk to le Jardin, where many fine restaurants can be found. We enjoyed Don Felix Tacos in another beautiful private home setting which is a little hard to find, recommend taxi ride.
