Country Comfort

Comfort, comfort, comfort is the best way to describe the Moose Lodge. Cabins we had rented in the past seemed to be furnished with used furniture and appliances and their cleanliness left much to be desired. But not the Moose Lodge! When we arrived on Saturday, we found the cabin in great shape. The place was immaculately clean and the furnishings were top shelf. The Moose Lodge is a real country charmer. Its rustic knotty pine décor gave us a feeling of warmth and comfort. The furniture and beds were so comfortable you didn’t want to get up. The kitchen was fully stocked with matching dinnerware so we could (and did!!) have a nice candlelit dinner. The Weber Genesis grill was like new and worked perfectly. The master suite is upstairs and has a king size bed, walk-in closet, and master bath suite. There is a loft sitting area just outside the master suite with a couch, easy chair and flat screen TV. There are two bedrooms downstairs. Each has a queen size bed. The furnished linens, towels, etc. are high quality. No need to bring your own pillows. The pillows furnished are quite soft and comfortable and there are more than enough so everyone can have two. The living room has a beautiful stone fireplace (we didn’t use) and a flat screen TV with a built in DVD. Both TV’s have cable service and quite a selection of channels. We enjoyed our evenings on the screened-in back porch. The wicker furniture was comfortable and clean. We brought a box fan to create a nice breeze and plugged in our iPod speakers. It was a perfect place to look out at the woods, have a cocktail and relax. The swimming pool just down the street was clean and the water was warm. There were plenty of chairs and recliners and room – no crowds. We fished off the dock and caught and released blue gill and bass. Wish we had brought some floats so we could have jumped in. We also rode dune buggies and scooters, paddled kayaks in town, saw a local concert, and visited Holland, Douglas, and South Haven. Make sure you have some Sherman’s ice cream – it’s the best!! The Moose Lodge is a very nice place to stay! Thanks Dawn (and Paige) for a wonderful week!!
